![]() (Daily Kos) Polls close at 8 PM ET (7 PM local time) for primary night in Illinois. We have plenty of exciting races to watch, and our guide to the key contests can be found here. The main event will be the race for governor, where Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner is trying to fend off a far-right challenge from state Rep. Jeanne Ives, and where three major Democrats (J.B. Pritzker, Chris Kennedy, and Daniel Biss) are competing to face him. There are also a number of competitive House primaries including in the 3rd District, where Blue Dog Democratic Rep. Dan Lipinski is facing his first serious challenge in a decade from businesswoman Marie Newman. It only takes a simple plurality to win nomination in Illinois. We’ll also be covering the returns closely on Twitter.[/quote] |

(Daily Kos) IL-Gov: With 35% reporting statewide, neither race has budged much. It’s very hard to see Pritzker losing: He leads in pretty much every part of the state, and he’s up 44-27 on Biss. Rauner, however, is up just 52-48 on Ives now, a bit closer than his previous 53-47 lead. --BREAKING: Billionaire businessman JB Pritzker wins Democratic primary in race for Illinois governor. @AP race call at 8:17 p.m. CDT. #Election2018 #APracecall (Associated Press, 20 march 2018) |

--67% in #IL03 and Lipinski up 52-48. County and city sites have Lipinski winning Chicago by much more than Newman's taking suburban Cook; not a good sign for her (Daily Kos Elections, 20 March 2018) --36% reporting in #ILGOV and Rauner up 52.3-47.7. Lots left to go, but this at best going to be an embarrassment for him (Daily Kos Elections, 20 March 2018) --Reminder: Lipinski's Dem legislative allies specifically gerrymandered this seat to protect him from a progressive primary challenger. That could make all the difference tonight #IL03 (Stephen Wol\f, DK Elections - 20 March 2018) |

(Daily Kos)A recap so far: --IL-Gov: The AP has called the Democratic primary for Pritzker. On the GOP side, Rauner has a slim 52-48 lead on Ives with 38% reporting statewide. --IL-03 (D): With 68% reporting, it's 52-48 Lipinski, and it keeps getting closer, but Newman will have a hard time making up that final gap. --IL-04 (D): Chuy Garcia is absolutly crushing Sol Flores 67-21 with 73% reporting. Not clear why the AP hasn’t called this one. --IL-06 (D): With 17% reporting, Kelly Mazeski is up 31-24 on Sean Casten. --IL-13 (D): With 16% in, Betsy Dirksen Londrigan is up 42-22 on Jon Ebel. --IL-14 (D): With 27% reporting, Lauren Underwood has a huge 57-14 lead on Matthew Brolley. |

--18% in #IL06 Dem primary to take on Roskam, Mazeski leading Casten 30-24. Feel like a broken record, but need to see what DuPage does (Daily Kos Elections, 20 March 2018) --As much as I don't like it, Lipinski favored to hold his seat narrowly. Looks like @JMilesColeman is mapping #IL03 -- but one point is clear -- Lipinski isn't popular -- he barely held on and was no doubt propped up by Madigan's corrupt machine in Chicago (Matthew Isbell, 20 march 2018) |

(Daily Kos) With 58% reporting statewide, of the 1.2 million votes tallied so far, 863,000 have been in the Democratic primary, while 359,000 have been in the GOP primary. That’s a 71-29 spread in percentage terms in favor of the Dems. (Daily Kos) In 2010, the last time both sides had truly competitive gubernatorail primaries in the same year, the Dem advantage was much smaller: 54-46. |
