Welcome to your first ever lesson of Creative Quills! I am Berolena (GrannyWeatherwax) and I will be teaching you the subject for this year! Before we get into learning, we must understand what Creative Quills is. For those of you who do not know, Creative Quills is the subject which teaches us how to write effectively, well and persuasively. You will also learn about different types of written media in these lessons and what makes it well- or badly-written.

Our focus for this year is Persuasive Writing Techniques. Persuasive Writing is used daily, even though many of us do not realise that we're using it! Persuasion is the art of making something go in your favour. E.g. being persuasive could get you more time to do your homework, or to get a better job than the one you currently hold. Many business men and woman use it to get business their way.

There is a simple acronym that defines the 7 Persuasive Techniques. Said acronym is 'AFORREST', sometimes spelt 'AFOREST' to make it easier.

HOMEWORK

'O' - Tell me what each letter stands for, what the technique means and an example of it.
'E' - Tell me what each letter stands for and what the technique means.
'A' - Tell me what each letter stands for.
'P' - Which letter has two meanings? What are they?
'D' - Which letter had two meanings?
'T' - Don't do the assignment.
