"To be honest, since this started years ago, I have done my utmost to stay out of Councilwoman Rivers's sex life." The large man guffawed and followed it with a chuckle, eventually quelling the outburst with a gulp of brandy and a hiss through his teeth. "Yes, in the event that one or both of them attempts to harm you, you have full admittance to open fire on them. This is how we treat all bounties in Voclain, unless of course they are an outside matter. If the perpetrators are members of Voclainian society, we give them the courtesy to act like human beings. If they refuse to listen to reason and wish to put your life on the line, then why should they be allowed to keep theirs in tact? One reason Voclain has boomed is because our society has a means of rooting out the evil - albeit, sometimes in less than desirable ways." The man finished the last of his brandy, stood, and then turned to Anatole.

"Well then, let's make this short so the morning can resume. Finish your drink and head off. You will find Ward in his own facility and Hyden in his, no doubt. If they aren't there, then at least their assistants will know where they are. Just make sure to watch your back... and your front... and, well, you get the idea. They tinker like your father used to, though where your father followed weapons tech, they decided to hurl themselves into the field of creating artificial life." Du'Val shook Anatole's hand firmly and, after Anatole had finished his brandy, he was escorted out by the clerk. He could go wherever he wanted.

For a moment, Anatole considered stopping by the River's office to get her input on the situation, but then thought better of it. The woman was obviously as fickle as she was beautiful and Anatole felt that any form of non-contract related meeting with her would inevitably end with with clutching his head trying to stave of a migraine while she tried to get hin his pants, or more accuratly his bank account.

With a quick look at his pocket watch, Anatole made his way from the consulate building and down to the coach-stop. From there he would hail a ride to Hyden's factory and with any luck, catch him in an agreeable mood if not, well, Anatole double checked to make sure his pistol was loaded, there was always plan B.

It wasn't long before another cabby happened by in another black, motorized coach and picked Anatole up. The man looked somewhat similar to the first, though this one was a bit taller and wearing a better form of dress. With Anatole in tow, the man threw the coach into gear and began to putt away from the stop.

The coach swung far, glancing by the harbor again and passing another cab that seemed to be picking up another merc. The cab was probably headed for the consulate building Anatole had just left. Anatole noticed that the cabby was, in fact, the one that had driven him previously and the man caught sight of Anatole as well, tipping his hat. The new cab driver turned sharply and muttered something about hating the other cabby, adding that many people seemed to confuse them and that he found it both distressing and ridiculous that people would draw such a conclusion. Just as he was finishing his rant, the cabby pulled up in front of a tall, narrow building.

The fact of it was simple and covered in windows and gears. A metallic staircase rise up to a heavy, gear-clad door. Above the door, on a bronze plaque, the name "Hyden" was emblazoned. Above, a singular, large pipe vented what seemed to be both a mixture of steam and smoke. Anatole could hear clanking from inside.

Just as he as about to pay the cabby, the massive door flew open and clunked against the frame. A man, dressed very dapperly but quite disheveled and clearly distraught, emerged. Another man behind him, an unassuming, balding, mustachioed man with sad eyes, emerged from the doorway to heard the first shout back: "And, I swear, I am going to blast right through him! Who does he think he is?! I am going to teach him a lesson!"

The other man raised a finger but then, realizing the situation, decided instead to slink back into the workshop and close the door with him. The first man continued to pound down the street.

Anatole looked from one man to the other and back again. It was obvious which one Hayden was. Dapper, disheveled, and clearly fuming with anger, it was almost comical in a way to watch an otherwise great man stoop so low as to give in to such petty squabbles over a woman who was clearly more into herself than anyone else. With a sigh, Anatole set off after Hayden at a brisk pace. Once he was close enough to be heard over the den of the streets he called out.

"Dr.Hayden! DR. Hayden, I'm terribly sorry to interrupt you, when you're clearly in such a rush; but I've been sent by the council to talk to both you and Dr. Ward to settle this dispute of yours. It would be in your best interest to hold a moment and listen to what I have to say. If you will not, I'm afraid I might have to shoot you."
