Got this last Sunday. I've been eyeing a Seiko dive watch for some time to use when I go swimming or as a backup dive timer for my Suunto dive computer when I go diving. It's the model SRP497K1 aka Stargate.

This is from a newer range of the Monster Diver series with new automatic movement - 4R36 which is supposedly an improvement over the previous models. The neat thing about this movement is that it allows to to wind up the watch to keep it running if you're not wearing it. It has a screw down crown so will be better at keeping out water especially at depth.

So far I've used it for 4 days after synchronising it with an atomic clock time standard and so far it's running slow 6 seconds. The first 2 days was spot on, but the last 2 days I've only used it for a few hours. Keeping it on the wrist seem to make it run on time. However -1.5s per day is within the specification of a chronograph (2s per day) and much better than the specs stated in the manual.

The automatic winding mechanism is silent and the watch also runs silent. The rubber strap is strong and comfortable on the wrist. The watch itself is not too bulky and fits nicely on my rather skinny wrist.

Design wise - plain and simple; functional wise - plain and simple. Exactly what I'm looking for.

Btw this range of Seiko watches are made in Malaysia, so the price is also reasonable for it's quality. I like it.
