Dear Ms Elizabeth Bentley, I'm most grateful to Lady of Fate for allowing me, in this glorious night to address this letter to you. My best wishes are that Father Time has embraced you kindly, keeping you away from all harm, and as magnificient as I had the fortune to behold your beauty back in the old days. However the pleasure of writting this honest words to you, Lady Bentley, are for more than just the need of my chivalry to give flowers to a marvellous woman as yourself. In the down coming lines you'll find affairs of mutual prosperity that I'd like to propose through this missive. I write this words by my own hand, representing my own will and that of someone of high renown that is well known by the two of both, I'm refering to Quentin King III, Prince of Boston who has advised me to send my Childe Adael Avir to the Old Lands of Britannia in order to be our banner man, our embassador and business contact between the Princedom of Boston and London for mutual benefit. He has proven worthy of trust and receptacle of great talent for the commerce and exchange matters in the Land of Boston and we hope that he will be able to provide to all our allies in the Lands of London with the same kind of advise that had led us to a significant improvement in our Coffers. We consider you an Old ally of Thy Prince and mine, therefore I dare to advise you, thinking in your well being, in the future of your current business and the prosperity of Ventrue in the Lands of London, to seek for Adael Avir and guide him, with the experience you have gathered over the many years you count, to succeed in his task. It is my believe that he'll collaborate and be a trust worthy ally for you and those you care. From the conviction of a solemn oath I wish to give you this words, to be, the first among many, as our business prosper I hope for our path to cross again in the most sublime circumstances, until then I leave you with my respect and good will. Sincerely, Jamie Dimon Alastor of her Sanctity Lucinde |

Green is Elizabeth "Lizzie" Bentley speaking. Purple is Piscina Sherwood speaking. "I think I have a way into London for you Fish, but you need to be completely above board." "But I was going to do the bit with the hummingbird." "I told you no. I will not be publicly associated with you if you keep trying to make fools out of my clanmates with birds." "They're not foolish. I'm just very clever." "They're going to x-ray an illusion of you someday and then we'll see who feels clever when the trust you've been building for over a century vanishes like one of your dreams." "Tell me what an x-ray is, and I'll figure a way to fool it as well." "No." "Tut. I'll just get my Susan to tell me then. Did you know the Anarchs don't have a Baron?" "What? In London? No. You are mad and random. Is that really so?" "'Tis." "What do you want for that tidbit?" "Consider it some pay in advance for this way into London you're about to tell me about." Ms Elizabeth Bentley sent an equally solicitious letter back to Alastor Dimon, agreeing to greet and offer aid to his childe. Then she sends a letter to his childe, Adael. Dear Mister Adael Avir, My name is Elizabeth Bently, Respected of the court of Bath, owner of Bently & Sons LLP, and your kinswoman. Enclosed is a letter from your esteemed sire. Please know that I am pleased to offer what advice and guidance I can on establishing yourself in this new country. If you at any point consider moving your operations from London to Bath, I would be pleased to consider a more practical alliance. But since you have chosen to pitch your tent so far from my own, the main assistance I can offer you at this point is information about a potential, if unconventional, ally who is also interested in moving to London with whom you might be able to enter a mutually beneficial relationship. She has unique skills and runs a very profitable business exclusively in our private circles. However, her bloodline is somewhat objectionable. If such things would bother you, I will speak no more of this, and simply welcome you to England and offer the benefit of consultation whenever you wish. Yours Sincerely, Elizabeth Bently |

Adael received the letter, at first he thought that it was from his Sire or from Prince Quentin, given its old fashion, however he wasn't familiar with the hand writting on it. He took the envelop back to his office and putting the closed envelop against a bright electrical bulb he checked for any wires or secret compartments that could be in it and considering it safe his proceeded to open it with a letter opener knife. The hand writting was delicated and structured, something that only Kindreds could develop over years of practice and dedication or Elder vampires as his Sire Jamie that after that many years his technique was debugged enough to rivalize with scribes from the old days. As well hand writtings were always personal and gave information about the writter, which sometimes was set on purpose to express a subtle message, while others it was product of the subconcious mind, in any case a valuable asset to understand the idea behind the letters. Spoiler: click to toggle Adael took note of the remitent address and contact information that Elizabeth had left in the letter for him to answer and inmediatly turned on his computer, introduced his password and started writting an email for her. To: Lady Elizabeth Bentley From: Adael Avir Title: very interested Greetings my Lady, I've received your letter and I'm glad to count on your guidance and support for the projects that Sire Jamie have burden upon me. Despite the distance between Bath and London I look forward to have a practical alliance between our best interests, which could be base in economical benefits for both parties, as the economical relationships between London and USA improve. Regarding your proposal, I'd welcome your ally in my haven, extending to her the Hospitality of our Custom, to be safe and comfortable as we discuss our potential relationship. Whether we meet a common ground of understanding or not, I promise you that no harm or accusation against her will come out from me, since any ally of my Sire is my own. Sincerely yours, Adael Avir. |

Adael could not detect any secret messages hidden inside the handwriting. In terms of personality, the analysis identified Miss Bently as practical, right handed, absent minded, and ruthless. Whether or not all this was accurate was uncertain, as the analysis also determined that she was male. She responded to his email in kind. I would not presume to say that Miss Sherwood is an ally of your illustrious Sire, but I have had cordial and mutually beneficial dealings with her, so we might say she is the ally of an ally. As I mentioned, she is of an objectionable bloodline. Ravnos. From that obviously follows the difficulty of formal admittance into a city. But she has a history of behaving herself. As she is not Acknowledged in your city it might be prudent to meet her elsewhere than your haven, but I shall leave it to you to coordinate such details, should you decide to pursue this. Included is telephone and electronic contact information. Luck be with you, Elizabeth Bently Edited with Adael's permission. Edited by Piscina, Saturday, 12. April 2014, 16:44.

Adael was still thinking about his graphology analysis and that gave context to the reading of the email that Lady Bentley sent to him. In his mind Elizabeth was a complex entity that made him distrust his own conclusions and that only meant that she or he was more complex than his ability to understand her, what made him curious and cautious about her. The he took a moment to think about this Ravnos girl, he had never dealt with this bloodline and had no idea of what to expect, except for some comments and third parties advises on them and none was flattering to this Clan, whom were considered to be rogues, delinquent and even traitorous, Master of Ilusions and delusions by equal. A friend of Adael once told him that through Ravnos' veins ran deception instead of blood. He thought deeply about the situation... then he wrote another email, this time to Ms Piscina: <<Dear Ms Piscina Sherwood, I have the pleasure to invite you to my Haven, where you'll be treated honorably and respectfully. I can promise to you, that as long that you fulfill the usual expectations about guests in the House of Ventrue, no harm will be done to you or your property: before, during and after your visit by the Code of my House, therefore extending my Hospitality to you. Ms Elizabeth Bentley has gave you her recommendation based on your mutually beneficial relationship and cordial history together. I've considered this recommendation to be enough to open the doors of my Home to you, in order to meet you and evaluate if we could settle a solid ground to grow a similar relationship between you and me. As you may imagine, I don't extend this privilege to many, however I desire to make a strong starting argument about how serious I'm about this. I'll order to my personal driver to pick you up in a place of your choosing inside the Borough of Richmond upon Thames' boundaries, he will escort you to my haven where we will have a pleasant night. Please be so kind to dress elegantly according to your customs and please forgive me if any of the up told words are in contradiction with your code of etiquette, to which I'm not familiar with. I've recently arrived to London and I'm yet to be fully installed in this domain, therefore I apologize for not being able to offer you any vitae, as it is Our Custom. In consequence I'm in the unpleasant duty to ask you to come without thirst to my haven. Hoping you'll value the honesty in this words as a base to this common and mutually beneficial ground that I'm looking forward to put below our feet. I'll patiently wait for your answer with day and hour of your choosing for the meeting. Sincerely, Adael Avir.>> |

It was a day before Adael received a response. It would have been more, but Pisces had a ghoul who remembered to check her email. FROM: wishmonger.uk@gmail.com TO: aavir*----.com Dear Mister Avir, Elizabeth mentioned you. How nice to receive your internet letter. While I appreciate your hospitality, I wouldn't dream of setting foot in the camarilla held domain of London without permission from the Prince. I hope my affection for protocol does not offend your generous nature or boldness. I am currently visiting a customer in Bath. Let me counter-propose that we meet halfway in the town of Newbury. I am scheduled to cater and decorate an event in Donnington Castle for the coterie controlling the town. I am sure I could persuade them to extend an invitation to a camarilla member in good standing, and as they have been able to entirely secure the castle as Masquerade safe, I promise that it will be an event to remember. Adael thought about the content of the email as he read it several times, over and over just to understand some of the context intended by the writter in it. One of the amusing and also very informative expressions Adael noticed in his first pass was 'internet letter' not email, per haps Piscina was very old... then in his mind the expression 'how nice...' was flattering to him even as they haven't met yet, he had already made a good first impression on her which could be corroborated by the 'generous nature or boldness' which considering the procedence of this, a Ravnos complimenting a Ventrue about his courage, it could mean either of two things of he had the wrong impression about this bloodline or he had impressed Ms. Sherwood. Further reading highlighted the profound negation to enter in Alarik's domain, was she on Blood Hunt? or she just feared the consequences if some of the deputy sheriff finds her. This was something to clarify in their meeting for sure, it wouldn't be easy to introduce a Ravnos to this city with the Prince aprooval, specially if she is in some kind of problem with the Camarilla. Would Bently recommended her if so? Many questions roamed in Adael's mind by reading this words, some worried him. Another reading made him realize that she was attending to a suppoused Camarilla party in Newbury, or they were so isolated to know about Piscinas' problems with Alarik or there was none to worry about. So why would the Court care about gypsies passing by? Bad experiences? fear? ... Adael didn't dare to jump into conclussions just yet but this email left him with more questions than answers, may be that was the nature of deception in Ravnos' Blood. It took him near an hour just to read the email and to realize the opportunity he had right in front of him, Camarillas! She could introduce him to more of thy Blood and that meant business! So he answered... < Dear Ms Sherwood, I'm glad that Ms Bentley had mentioned my intentions, as I'm of this gratifying communication between us. I understand your reasons to avoid breaching into the Princedom of London without permission from it's ruler, and I'd be most honored to be your Guest in Donnington Castle for this event, not by generosity or boldness but by my desire to represent trustworthiness by giving the first step with my example. Regarding this, I'd like to know the etiquette protocol as well as confirmation that I'm invited by usual Camarilla Hospitality from the Newbury Coterie, other than that I'd only require date and hour to meet you at the Castle. Without further ado I'll keep patiently waiting on your response, Sincerely, Adael Avir > |

Another day, and another letter. Miss Sherwood was a slow correspondent, which was consistent with Adael's guess that she was somewhat old. FROM: wishmonger.uk@gmail.com TO: aavir*----.com Delightful. The event is tomorrow, starting two hours past sundown. I have spoken to Bruce. He says they would be glad to have you. The site is an Elysium, but not formal court, and use of disciplines will be allowed for this evening. It will be entirely isolated from mortal society. You are encouraged to bring your own wand if you can, but one will be supplied if you cannot. True to form, the message raised as many questions as it answered. And her slow response-time meant that, if she stuck to the pattern of taking a day to reply, even if Adael sent another message right now, she probably wouldn't get it before the event. |
