To make things run a bit smoother and also dont have to rp around things which drags stuff along, I thought I'll open this thread. In here, IC questions, plans and preparations can be summarily posted and dealt with. This might strike as a bit metagamey or as some sort of collective memory or hivemind, but it allows for a quick summary of the briefing and IC interaction while keeping the Prologue brief. Therefore, I would like the participant to post here what questions the chars might bring up and - more interestingly - what kind of homework or legwork they did in the meantime that would net them information that they might be provided with during the meeting. |

Jean Blackman Jane would interview Jean Blackman, who is still in custody. With Toran's permission she would use the blue prints he came up with and consult with Blackwood to flesh out their contents. Where was his lab? Were there guards? How many and where? Were there people who were only there at night? What did they look like? Are the doors locked? With keys or key cards or passwords, and where could we find those things? Second most importantly: where would the materials we are here to find and dispose of located? Most importantly: where is Blackwood likely to be? Jane'd also pick his brain for detailed descriptions of the regular guards, and use Mask of a Thousand Faces to recreate their appearances so that the Obfuscate people can go in with viable disguises from the get go. If Blackman's memory is hazy on anything she'd politely request that the Grand Harpy spend some time trying to fix his memory, and also ask that he be by a phone during the operation so that they can consult from the field. Communication Jane would ask someone (possibly Toran?) to secure earpieces for everyone so that they could all remain in contact. She would also drill everyone involved in this in basic radio communication protocol. She'd also make sure the earpieces are easily muted, and make sure that anyone who knows Obfuscate knows how to mute them so that radio chatter doesn't give them away at a key moment. Secondary communication protocol will be cellphones on mute with texting abilities. This is the preferred form to communication for Obfuscated individuals. She'll ask for a volunteer willing to hang back and monitor all communication lines, making sure all of the texts get broadcast over the headsets, and important information from the headsets gets sent to any hidden people relying on phones. Communication 2.0 - Team Cohesion Jane would strongly suggest to Henderson that part of the briefing being a description of the powers and skills that everyone involved brings to the table. |

Toran can easily make encrypted ear pieces and provide encrypted construction durability smart phones for texting. They're just 3 grand a pop. *lol* So that's not a problem. He'd also give Jane a pretty solid list of questions about the security system once he knew they had an informant. Do they use lasers? Thermal sensors? pressure pads on the floor? Touch pads? Retinal Scanners? Finger print scanners? Motion sensors? |

Sawyer would have spent a great deal of time before the mission on reconnaissance, particularly scouting sewer tunnels and possible alternate entrances to the laboratory. If possible, he would also consult with the furry little denizens of the sewers to figure out if an animal could get in where a person could not. He would have also attempted to shadow the people who entered and exited the lab, particularly security guards and janitors, in hopes of putting a face to the descriptions Blackman provided. Jane and Sawyer would've exhaustively practiced their potential disguises based on the virologist's testimony and any photographs he managed to capture of the building's staff. He would have more than likely been present for much of Blackman's interrogation, and would rely on the virologist's help in gauging the effectiveness of their mental disguises. |

Adael would like to know: 1. What's the nature of the objetives that can't be achieved by combat trained ghouls? 2. Why is called an infiltration op if the Camarilla controls the city, therefore the police force and we could easily arrest everyone of the building if needed. 3. What other resources will be used aside from vampires 4. What are the contigencies in case of being discovered, being trapped or being lost 5. Who are the targets, what's their nature (vampiric or other) 6. What kind of force will we expect to find 7. What kind of force are we authorized to use (can we blow up the building? gas leak perhaps?) Thank you |

Adeal's questions are answered by the red-haired deputy sheriff, who seems kind of intense and on edge. 1. "If you know a few who would like to sign up, send them on over and I'll interview them, but unless they can turn invisible, talk to animals, and do all the other magic things we can do, we're taking vampire volunteers as well." 2. "First of all it is insanely difficult to 'control' an entire city's police force--it's an elaborate system with a variety of checks and self-regulating procedures designed to prevent the sort of corruption and infiltration you're taking for granted. Also, every single action a department takes is exhaustively documented. So not only is it difficult to use as a thug squad, it's dangerous because the raid would be well documented and we would have to justify it. Since almost every aspect of this case involves Masquerade-sensitive material providing actual evidence is obviously out of the questions, so we would have to completely fabricate circumstances, which would be hugely difficult to do believably given the time frame we're looking at and would inevitably involve discrepancies that attentive investigators would pursue, which would lead them in the direction of said Masquerade-sensitive material." "Also, you realize you're suggesting sending a human police force, with advanced communication equipment that records everything they do, to deal with vampires and ghouls? Again Masquerade breach. That's not even taking into account the fact that the substance we're looking for is a viral contagion that has the potential to kill any human exposed to it. I realize you might not have been aware of that initially, but it's another reason for not sending in the ghoul thug squad you initially mentioned." 3. "Radios. Guns. An informant. An extremely strong mouse. What do you want? Toran can probably make it." 4. "That's going to be covered in the briefing." 5. "That should have been your first question, because it probably would have stopped you from suggesting that we send in ghouls or the police department. The target is a man who goes by the alias Mark Blackwood. He, or at least someone using that pseudonym, is suspected of involvement in various terrorist attacks against a variety of supernatural organizations including the Camarilla, the Giovanni, and something called the Kuei Jin. He was responsible for the bombing of the Eye, the plane crash into Trafalgar square, and attempted to enact a biological attack against London that would have killed thousands. Think Black Plague. It would have been like that. We stopped that. We have the virologist he coerced into helping him in custody and the building we are raiding is the lab where the contagion was developed. Our goals are to find and confiscate the research and remaining samples and to search for more leads on how to find and apprehend 'Blackwood'. Hopefully we will find him there." "He is a vampire. He has some ability with the Dominate discipline, so he's probably a Ventrue, Giovanni, Lasombra, or a Malkavian." 6. "He likely has associates, who may also be vampires or ghouls. Sawyer's scouting will hopefully shed light on that." 7. "No we cannot blow up the building. You're one of those kinds of vampires aren't you?" Edited by Jane Marlow, Wednesday, 9. April 2014, 03:29.

If possible, was Blackwood able to determine the conditions which the virus requires to maintain an active state? For instance the temperature range in which the virus can remain alive. Acid to Base level, that sort of thing? What environment are hostile to the virus and would make a host unlivable? If Lucy gets infected I want all the possible information about what this virus requires to stay alive so I can think of ways to kill it without killing the woman I love. |

Jane can confirm for Toran that while the disease can infect vampires, it doesn't kill them. It does make them infectious, irritable, and makes it very difficult for them to keep down blood. The virologist in custody, Jean Blackman, is working on a cure. If Lucy got infected, that would be her best chance. Jane can confirm that the virus can survive at room temperature and be transmitted to vampires via blood contact or darts. Blackman probably needs to answer the other ones. OK, first question round is over. Second one would detail what skills and abilities the character have, think of it as a sort of introduction in case people dont know each other well to be able to form groups and teams. As always, details to be provided here, I'll summarize findings in the prologue as usual. |

The Black Rose
|
Pierre was a veteran of the French Resistance then an infantry captain in the Free French Army. He has fought against the Sabbat on a few occasions over his long un-life, in LA and in NYC. He has a fair bit of skills along these lines, though they are rather outdated. He sees his role here as a kindred with a sharp-eye and a steady hand who can keep his head in a fight. He is tall, broad and lean and when he gets his crow-like face into a scowl he can seem more then a little intimidating. He doesn't say much. The Frenchman has already fought alongside Jane and the two know what to expect of each other. He intends to keep an eye out for Jane, and visit some Rose Retribution upon Blackwood. |

Polite as ever, Sawyer's introduction is perhaps a bit too cheerful for the occasion, but friendly all the same. "Sawyer Flint, Clan Nosferatu, Deputy Sheriff. Jane 'n me have led most of the investigation since Blackman's capture, and because of that, we're very familiar with the lil' details of the case. If you have questions about the specifics of the virus, the virologist, or the lab, we've got answers. Maybe. "My personal talents lie in reconnaissance, investigation, impersonation, and hittin' things real hard. I'm focused on stayin' unseen or unnoticed once the security folks get us in, and with gettin' us out of tight spaces if necessary." Of particular value is the fact that Sawyer's mask is also able to fool recording devices and electronics [Merit: False Reflection]. He doesn't mention this, but both Jane and Henderson would know about that particular talent. Edited by Sawyer, Wednesday, 9. April 2014, 21:41.

Lucy's quick resume of skills might surprise some when she mentioned fifteen years of mixed martial arts training and basic knowledge of urban guerrilla warfare, firearms and explosives. Hey, her Sire had been IRA and a damn good one at that. So yeah, she'd been given the run down of things as no Childe of his would be anything less that adept at fighting. It didn't mean she normally fought a whole lot. Hell no. But she knew how to, something her best friend would've been able to attest to had the Gangrel been around. As it were though, she wasn't so people would simply have to take her word for it. Foot soldier, that was inevitably what she was, but those were generally always needed. Even if it it wasn't for anything more fancy than to deliver a punch or take one. |
