The Kindred Chronicle
Key Figures
THE MONSTER OF EALING
Last night, several people reported the sighting of a "screaming red monster" in a quiet neighbourhood of Ealing. After a power shortage in the area, a building caught fire. It was then when, what was described as a "man shaped, footless creature" emerged from the flames, leaping, running, and screaming. One woman has told our reporters that the man had "teeth like a wolf, and the face of the devil". Police officers are still trying to get to the bottom of this; neither the power shortage nor the fire have still been explained. A spokesperson from Scotland Yard has stated that the "so called monster" might be a wounded person, escaping the fire.

TRAGEDY IN TOOLEY STREET
The police has found the bodies of three TFL workers in the construction site at Tooley Street. One of their colleagues raised the alarms last week, when the three workers didn't attend their shifts. The bodies of the men have been found in a deep hole, uncovered by the refurbishment works that are taking place in the area. According to the Police, the bodies were horribly mutilated, which has led to the wildest speculations. The names of the three workers are being kept anonymous, following the wishes of their families.

HOROSCOPE
MARCH 8 - PISCES
You are used to making sacrifices, to prioritising the happiness of others before yours. Even though that is a noble attitude, there are times in life where the only healthy alternative is to embrace your own selfishness and allow yourself some enjoyment. Reserve one hour per day to do something you really like. Treat yourself! Your colour for this month is blue.
Echoes from the past ring back into London. Their intensity increases until they are deafening. What once was a faded memory of a glorious time, now becomes a shocking reality. The consequences of actions taken decades ago ripple into the present, altering the lives of everybody in the City. Unguided and blind, Kindred wander around, trying to make profit out of the reigning chaos.

The appearance of four mysterious figures turned the city upside down. Mistrust and jealousy became the official currency of London. Serpents and fiends rise to power, misdirecting the blaming eyes of the Camarilla towards imaginary enemies. Only those with clear vision and the ability to trust each other strive, while the rest run towards a shallow grave.

Veronicka raised an eyebrow at the outside of the building. It was actually a rather nice place. Made her think more wonders of Jason. The man had always had a bit of an exquisite taste. Usually, Anarch Elysiums were disgusting run down bars tucked away in the corner of the town. They would be surrounded by bums who Veronicka would have to stop and help. But this place was different. Nice and divine. Peaceful perhaps? Veronicka chuckled, she didn't enjoy peaceful.

Walking into the bar Veronicka glanced around taking in her surroundings as she smiled a bit. This place looked polished. Wouldn't have to worry about drunks and hopefully she would be able to meet some new faces. Get familiar with the Anarch community. She was quite full of course. No sense in forcing the bar to cater to her strange eating habits. She had just opened a soup kitchen on the other side of town. One of the sweet gals that worked there was a such a charitable woman. Veronicka just had to take a sip and grant her that divine please. Not to mention she had dropped a couple thousand pounds in her purse.

Veronicka decided to make her way over to the bar first and see what would happen. She was abnormally pale in complexion. She had been insanely pale during her life and undeath hardly was able to make that any more pronounced. Her hair was white and she wore a regal white gown that seemed to be something from the 17th century, but dame it looked good. Her eyebrows and lips were the only things of color on her. Her eyebrows were brown while her lips were a bright red from lipstick. Two features she loved to be accented.

A young man, blond roots with fading purple hair wearing, of all things, an elegant button down suit of soft purple raw silk with a white shirt and a dark violet tie. The man had a thick scar running down the left side of his face from above his temple down to his jawbone. His eyes were a bright green and he smiled warmly.

"Ello Miss, my name is Lynx O'Rourke and how might I help ye this evening?"

The young Irishman was speaking in a soft professional manner. His colorful clothing and aside he seemed subdued and responsible as he offered her the hospitality the Club was named after. He didn't recognize her but the fact that she knew where the place was and just to come in marked her as an Anarch and either a vampire or a ghoul. Thus, his offer of respect and courtesy.

Veronicka couldn't help but smile at the man with the strange accent. Actually Veronicka held that thought internally. She knew that around here, she was the one with the strange accent. For all she knew this man was quite normal. Although in her business encounters an Irishman was quite a rare treat. Not to speak less of them, but all amounted to less than pure Russians. Veronicka smiled a sweet smile that might have been eerily sweet indeed.

"I am unsure you will have something to suit my tastes on tap," Veronicka started off to clear the air a bit. No sense in the man preparing to give her a drink when he wouldn't know what to get her, "I von't require much help. I vas just hoping for some good conversation is all. Maybe, learn the layout of the underground London a bit."

Sure Veronicka may have talked like she liked to live in the shadows. Hell, she may even act like she likes to live in the shadows. The truth was, Veronicka enjoyed demoralizing someone face to face. Robbing them blind right in front of their eyes and yet there wasn't a single fucking thing that person could do about it. That is what got Veronicka off. Did she often satiate that need? Well, she hardly ever even paid attention to it. She would much rather donate to a charity, or talk with someone as she is now.

"This place seems rather quiet though, so tell me something Mr. O'Rourke," Veronicka said in a thick Russian accent, "Do you donate to charity?"

"Er, well, me cousin and I were both dirt poor before we inherited the Torchwood family money that we didn't know we were connected te until the lawyers did some DNA tests. Illegitimate children and satellite branches o'the family and all. Most o'the money is already tied up in some kind of brokerage house that control what's done with it. That was established by me Da' before he died. So, I'm not really sure. Do ye know of a good charity in need o'support? I do buy meals fer the homeless every so often. Seems right since I used to busk on the streets and all."

Why the hell did I say all that? Lynx wasn't sure where the over share came from, but the woman weirded him out a little. She looked kinda like Glynda the good witch from the North in the Wizard of Oz... all pristine and sugary. He'd always been convinced Glynda could have vaporized him if she really wanted too. If she'd just snapped.

Not many of the vampires who came here seemed to come to drink. He wasn't sure how to take that. They'd been increasing the organization. Male section, female section, animal section. Started organizing things by blood type. Sure, it wasn't perfect and it was a surprising amount of work, but he was putting time into it when he wasn't with CJ or Celestia or Yuki. Helped that he could work on the stocking issues during the day when he KNEW nobody would interrupt and ask for a drink.

Upon his confession of the small gestures her did to help the poor and need Veronicka couldn't help, but smile. Now, the two were essentially best friends. At least in her own mind. A brokerage house? There was a loophole there that Veronicka could exploit to get this Lynx out of it. Straight up money that you could use for what you wanted was generally far better. Of course the Irishman didn't have that ambitious twinkle in his eyes so the Russian kept it to herself.

"That is vonderful. I do know of several charities in the local area, from big to small. Depends on your fancy really Irishman," Veronicka giggle happy as can be, "Lets see, there are some for children, there are some for homeless, then you have your medical research for curing the cancer and all those horrible things. If you vould like I could send you a brochure of charities I personally ensured vere clean of corruption." That not so subtle shift from aggressive to completely happy and passive was always strange to see. Her long white nails tapped gently on the countertop.

"So Mr. O'Rourke, tell me about London. I am quite new here," Veronicka more said than asked. It was truly hard for her to ask for help, but she didn't mind telling people to help her in nice ways.

"Ah.... generally I like encouraging music fer youth really... but ah, okay."

He blinked slowly. He had gotten a bit more than he bargained for with that but she seemed happy. Happy was good. Happy meant he didn't have to push the panic button that called Jason down from his office. That generally indicated that the night was going relatively well. He'd been doing good in navigating the sometimes murky water that was conversing with beings who could somehow be both older and younger than him at times it seemed.

"Ah well, I've only been living here fer a few months myself. Seems like a city that's been having a bit o'ups and downs o'late. The terrorist attacks were awful. Lot of people working te rebuild from them. If yer referring to the political landscape Master Dahlgren prefers we remain relatively neutral in political discussions so as not to offend the guests. I can say that it's a contested city split three ways between the Anarchs, the Camarilla and the Sabbat. The Camarilla possess the most territory in terms of borough size. There is some unclaimed territory out to the west that so far seems entirely unaligned."

Which, really summed up about all he knew. Jason really DIDN'T like getting into politics so he hadn't really filled Lynx in on the situation really. And not enough vampires were coming in here to gossip to really fill him in on the details his master didn't want to discuss. That saddened him. He would have felt more useful if he was picking up more information for Jason.

Veronicka did offer Lynx another smile when the man mentioned that he enjoyed too encourage music for the youth. That was particularly specific. When someone had something specific it tended to be something that they believed in and if they believed in it they were always more charitable. It didn't really matter what the charity was, as long as it helped someone out. Just the thought of all the children who found their life love in instruments made her almost tingle with excitement.

"I don't personally have anything staked into a charity that provides music teaching for children," Veronicka said pulling a brochure from a small white purse she carried with her. She thumbed through it for a second with her red lips pursed, "You know, I saw a name in here though. My contacts submitted me a brochure with all the honest charities in London. Now, hmmm." Veronicka flipped a couple of pages in the tiny little brochure before smiling again. Her teeth were perfectly straight and sparkly white.

"Oh!" Veronicka set the brochure down on the counter and pointed to a name, "Music4Children," Veronicka continued eagerly, "I will give you the information for that one so you can check it out and stuff. Let me know if you end up donating. Whatever you donate I will match and double."

The young now nobleman blinked several times and took the brochure with a bit of bemusement in his green eyes. He pursed his lips as he looked it over and he set it down to circle the specific charity in question.

"Aye, well. I'll look into it then Ma'am. Would you like me te call Jason and let him know yer here?"

He rested his elbows on the bar and frowned as he picked up the phone on the counter, regarding her with trepidation. He wasn't quite sure what she wanted, aside from the fact that she clearly wanted him to donate to charity. Not that playing along was actually harming her at all. She was a beautiful... vampire. As far as he knew he hadn't actually gotten intimate with any vampires and he wasn't sure he was ready for that to change.

Not that she seemed particularly interested. But Lynx was no more capable of ignoring a woman's beauty than he was of living without air. Still, he offered her a friendly smile and slipped the brochure into his coat pocket to make it clear he wasn't going to ignore the offer she had made.

Veronicka considered the man's proposal. She had already met with Jason earlier in the week and didn't really feel like bothering the busy man again. He was no doubt enraptured in his work and it wouldn't do to just follow around on his coat tails just because she wasn't really familiar with the city.

"No thank you," Veronicka replied with a kind smile. Veronicka wasn't particularly perceptive, but she could discern that the man appeared to enjoy her beauty. She was at least glad for that. It made her feel young again, not that she appeared old. Though, she wasn't particularly interested in sleeping with him. She instead shot him a kind smile. "I think I shall find a seat. Maybe I will bump into some of my fellows here. Thank you for your help this evening."

Veronicka reached into her bag and pulled out a small case that appeared to be made of platinum... It was actually made of platinum. Inside were her business cards, one of which she pulled out, "And take this. Should you ever feel like donating to a charity I am a bit of an expert in that field. Also should you be interested in any business ventures... Well it is the least I could do for a charitable man. Any assistance you may need is a phone call away."

The Ice Queen wasn't particularly fond of cell phones, but she definitely carried hers on her at all times. Such a useful device it had turned out to be. She only wished she had invested in it sooner. For her own part she found a nice quiet table and sat down going over a few charities she might want to visit. Maybe she would bump into some more Anarchs and get a true feeling for the city.

The young man takes the card with a half bow and slips it into another pocket of his purple suit coat. He smiles warmly and nods. He can understand wanting to meet new people. So far the place hadn't had a LOT of people showing up, but they were just getting started after all. Once more people knew about them he was sure they'd get more customers.

At least the vampires could use it as a social club. Maybe they were a lot more isolationist than he thought. At least he hadn't seen any show up just to meet a new person yet. This Veronicka was the first. Though Leslie hadn't been looking for anyone in particular when she dropped in either. So maybe vampires just had bad timing when it came to running into each other.

He took out a polishing rag and a faint pine scented oil and began to polish the already gleaming bar. Didn't hurt to keep the place looking glossy and beautiful. After all, having the posh atmosphere of an old fashioned Gentleman's Club was one of the charms of the facility. He paused, unsure if the Lady might want some music or not.

"On request I do play piano, if ye'd like. Just for a bit of ambiance. I have a wide selection of songs I can perform if ye are so inclined."

He figured she probably had other ideas but he felt compelled to offer. It was, after all, part of his job to make them feel welcome and comfortable.

Veronicka was a bit busy reading when she heard Lynx's offer. She looked up and smiled at him. It did seem to be a rather quiet evening here in the club, but the atmosphere felt very authentic. Seeing as to how she wasn't doing much at this moment playing a bit of piano did sound like some fun. Not Lynx playing it, but herself. She wasn't a professional piano player, but she did receive several lessons in playing the piano. It was always good to know how to play an instrument.

"Actually, if you wouldn't mind, I would enjoy playing the piano myself for just a bit," Veronicka countered sweetly. Maybe someone would show up soon, and she could become more familiarized with the underground London. If not, she would simply strike out on her own and enjoy whatever she happened to stumble upon.

"Oh course ma'am, yer more than welcome te play the piano."

The young man nodded his head, his green eyes sparkling. He motioned to the piano over in the side of the room where the baby-grand piano sat. She was welcome to play it as much as she wanted. He slipped out from behind the bar and walked over to it, sliding the bench out and opening the lid so she could access the keys if she wanted too.

"Do ye need me te get ye some sheet music?"

He didn't often use sheet music himself but many people required it to play properly. Well, he did use it, while he was learning a song as it made it easier to him to master it. He wasn't sure how many different songs he had the music for, they were in a folder behind the bar. He'd brought more than a few in case he needed to play something he wasn't entirely familiar with for a customer.

"Oh thank you," Veronicka said as he flipped the lid up. She sat down on the bench and smiled running her fingers over the keys without pressing them. It had been a little bit since she had last played, but she remembered it all.

"Oh no, that vill not be necessary," Veronicka replied, "I have only a few songs memorized, but they are the one I vant to hear. I do hope you enjoy Russian songs." With that she played a few melodies that were quite typical of piano players. Just a little tune to warm up was all. Once she was fairly warmed up she decided to get right to business and played a little song. Maybe some individuals would show up while she played.

Ghelt... Gahst... Whatever. The Unnameable Club was concealed under a façade of normality. A historical building for the alien, the kind of place tourist would stop at to take a few unsubstantial pics to show their uncaring relatives and then leave, she only knew it hid an Anarch Elysium behind it's gates because Pisces had told her so. They had arranged their reunion there two months ago yet she had never showed up. Kinda busy dealing with family issues abroad, she didn't care to inform anybody of her departure. So it was understandable to feel a pinch of guilt over standing up an old friend. The kind of guilt that would convince you to walk into a place you already know it's not even close to your comfort zone and ask about said friend. Just the name said enough in itself.

She fiddled her earrings, both hanging from the lobule of her left ear and smiled to herself. The tip of the yellowy fangs was still sharp and pointy. The Brujah had purposedly started cutting her hair short every evening to show them off. At least the left side. The right portion of hair fell like a black cascade over her eye and to the tip of her nose and gradually matched the rest in length from the back of her ear. It made her look like a troubled lesbian teenager. Only in case the observer guessed her sex correctly.

Of course nobody would know the teeth belonged to her Sire, then again she didn't need everyone knowing she was a parricide. Still she liked to feel their helpless rolling against the skin of her jaw. Oh, sweet irony. Such luck she had bones didn't wither and dissapear as quickly as soft tissues. Her fingers went over the smooth enamel of the fangs again before stepping into the place.

Ivory, darkened leather and oak and the soft music of a piano playing in the background. Classy. Which in Tory's vocabulary meant 'I want to nope the hell out of here'. A wooden framed sign hanging at the wall caught her attention. She was almost dissapointed to discover that, instead of the cryptic 'Weaving spiders come not here' -every reputed Gentlemen Club should have that-, the paper displayed a collection of the usual Elysium rules. So this place was now the Anarchs HQ. Just a few weeks out of London and the community had classed up the place. Huh.

She then walked towards the bar with no particular rush, gluing her eyes all over the hall, and waited for a bantender to arrive. Such an aristocratic place should have some kind of alcoholic blood drink, shouldn't it?

"Pardon me ma'am. We have another customer and I have te see if she requires anything."

The young man rose from his position by the piano and drifted over to Victoria, giving her a slight half bow and an impish grin, his green eyes sparkling as he regarded her. She had... fangs.. as earrings? Well, that was different. Still, he had some things to offer her at least.

"Hello Ma'am, welcome to the Hospitality Club, I am Lynx O'Rourke your bartender and general server. Is there anything I can get ye? We had an assortment of bloods that is ever expanding. As fer alcoholic bloods I'm afraid ye'll have te settle for Guinness er Whiskey. We're still working on developing the contacts for a wider variety. Hazards of being new and all."

Which was the truth. But Jason and he had managed to fill up a few bottles of alcoholic blood. Which had been a trip. Basically him drinking himself stupid, then the two of them harvesting the blood, Jason giving him the vitae to heal and repeating the processes. He believed they had an appointment to gather some rather fine scotch later this month.

"Ye are o'course free te wander about the place. Upstairs is a rather relaxed reading library. If ye need anything Jason is on the third floor and I can call him down te speak with ye."

The Irishman leaned on the bar and regarded her with his sharp green eyes, waiting patiently for her order. After all, it was his job.

Veronicka nodded to the Irishman when she observed the newcomer. She had a certain appeal to her. Not in a sexual manner, but in an appraising one. While Veronicka might resemble something more akin to a Camarilla, this individual looked distinctly rebellious. From what she had heard about the Anarchs in London the place seemed to be quite dead. And not in the funny sense. There seemed to be little to no communication and their position was quite precarious. At least in Veronicka's mind. She knew that if she was the Prince, the crackdown would have begun.

For her own part though Veronicka finished playing her song on the piano. Once it was complete she picked up her pamphlets and tucked them away in her white purse. The earrings seemed to be a nice touch to the newcomer. Veronicka considered introducing herself, but the woman didn't really seem to be the type to enjoy the presence of a filthy rich Ventrue. Veronicka sat down crossing her legs and closing her eyes feeling the place out with her senses.

She would wait back for a few and let the woman get a bit more settled, before trying to find out how dire the situation in London really was.

It was like he had read her mind. Which, honestly, she was a vampire. On that basis, everything was possible. Alcoholic bottled blood -and not that half distilled shit she lucked out from time to time and which effects faded in the blink of an eye- would have been a huge thumbs up for this site. And that was something really big coming from her mouth. Especially since this place looked like the kind of dive Mr. Scott liked to drink himself into next week.

Now the library was a pro. Maybe later.

"I'd rather pass for now." She made a gesture with her hand to accompany the words. "I came here looking for a certain somebody. You seen a small, young girl wandering around this place? Braided hair, most likely dressing in a long, gypsy-like skirt... Her name is Piscina."

Not the most accurate description, and she was sure Pisces wouldn't have liked her employing the word gypsy. Now how to describe a person you haven't seen in years? She frowned, trying to remember.

"Oh, and there's a chance she came with a lot of sparrows."

"No, I'm afraid Ms Piscina has not yet graced this establishment. Nor have I noted any particular accumulation of sparrows I'm afraid. However, the Lady by the piano might know more than I do about such matters. I'm afraid I just polish the surfaces and sling the blood."

The Irishman smiled in a friendly way but it was clear he had no idea what she was talking about. He wouldn't be able to help her really. He had no idea about any such woman, though she sounded fascinating. He did take a moment to motion his hand towards Veronicka because in his mind, vampires were more likely to know about vampires than a simple mortal like him. He hoped it wasn't committing some form of faux pas.

"If ye'd like te leave a contact number I can do me best to make sure she gets yer information should she come in. It's the best I can offer at the moment however."

Though he could see why a lot of vampires might hesitate to do such a thing. Jason had said that a rolodex of numbers under lock and key might be a good thing to have in the long run. Something about the Anarchs being... scattered. Lynx wasn't sure. He didn't follow politics at all. He knew it had something to do with the tiny scary little fellow who came in on occasion. The Goblin.

She bit her lip. Mh, gotta try. Guilt clawed at her stomach. Piscina had been a good friend, but after two encounters with her past and being ditched by both of them there was no way she'd try a third one by the time the Ravnos called. Still she supposed one day a sparrow would chirp a message for her. The same way Piscina had found the Brujah before.

"Well, if she ever comes, tell her Victory is back."

She then regarded the Ice Queen at the piano. Awkward, 'cause she was sure she hadn't seen the woman before. Pretty hard to miss the lady, skin and hair white as if somebody had poured a jar full of bleach on her and then painted her eyebrows and lips so that she could be discernible in her snowy environment. Otherwise the costume was perfect. She was a painfully obvious vampire, but even so Tory was one too and under her sempiternal layer of make up the skin was not as ivory. Hers was ashen, shadowed by black marks here and there where her veins had frozen carrying the sludge her blood had turned into. Then again she had died of a blend of chronic infection and freezing, one of the symptoms being her body becoming a marmoreal map of sickness.

Well, there was no way this 17th century lady would know Piscina if she was as new to the city as Tory supposed. Now what kind of business had brought a filthy rich bitch to the proletarian North? A Capes one, for example? Ready to take the grounds from it's scattered inhabitants? Cause this one really had all the Camarilla vibes on her. She put both elbows on the table and crossed her legs, facing Snow White. That she had told Dandelion she didn't give a shit about the Anarchs wasn't exactly true. Oh well, she couldn't help the righterous fury.

The vibrant city of London shone as a beacon of opportunity for the Setite. Cainites tend to see Followers of Set as the source of corruption. It is a lovely reputation to have, but quite useless most of the time. However, tonight was one of those nights were the reputation turned out to be useful.

Charles found himself riding the tube to the borough of Enfield. Apparently that's where 'bad people, like him' gathered. Charles isn't quite sure what the drug dealer meant when he said bad people, but chances are he could meet potential customers. Selling illegal products are not that different from selling legal ones. You have to make some calls, establish relationships, and push your product to the market. It's a slow and tedious process, unless you enjoy it, which Charles do. People are unpredictable, and vampire even more so. That's the beauty of being a glorified salesman (i.e. an entrepreneur), you get to see people at their moment of need and exploit it for your own benefit. Charles checked the time on his phone. It was late or early, depending on how you see it. Sophie was probably still asleep. It's going to take a while for her to get used to the new timezone. Mr. Bardin is already used to that, so he knows that for the next couple of weeks he will be alone at night.

His station finally came up and Charles jumped out of the train. The setite loves using public transport. It is a great way to meet people and find out about what is going in the city. Although, it seems that Britons aren't quite fond of a stranger suddenly asking question about the city and how their night is going. "We're definitely not in Hong Kong anymore" Charles thought with amusement as the left the underground station and walked towards Gjestfrihet Club. Whomever named that club wanted to make sure that is as hard to pronounce as it is to write.

The Setite finally reached the place and walked inside. The place looked nice. It was kept quite clean and the people sure looked properly dressed... as proper as possible anyways. His outfit didn't stand out in the crowd, which was good because everything else did. From his light tanned skin to his red hair, he sure looked like someone who is not from nearby. However that will not deter Charles on bit. The man kept walking and spotted a bright shinny thing on the corner of his eye. The Setite was glad to have worn his contacts today. It makes things a little darker and prevents him from over-reacting when bright things are pointed at him or nearby. Charles turned his head and saw the most pale human he has ever seen in his life. She is so pale, vampires probably hide when she enters a room thinking it's the sun shining. "Impressive" was the only thought Charles could muster. Logic dictates she is not a mortal. Her clothes, her hair, her skin, no one can be that pale and be alive. One thing is for certain, this place was frequent by, at least, one cainite. That was great news for Charles.

The man kept walking towards the bar and waited for the bartender to serve him. He won't drink whatever he orders. There is no point in pretending he can eat food or drink alcohol. All he needs is a drink to hold to pretend he is another mortal while he waits for his chance to talk to someone who might shed more light on who is the pale lady and who else might frequent this fancy place.
