THE MONSTER OF EALING
Last night, several people reported the sighting of a "screaming red monster" in a quiet neighbourhood of Ealing. After a power shortage in the area, a building caught fire. It was then when, what was described as a "man shaped, footless creature" emerged from the flames, leaping, running, and screaming. One woman has told our reporters that the man had "teeth like a wolf, and the face of the devil". Police officers are still trying to get to the bottom of this; neither the power shortage nor the fire have still been explained. A spokesperson from Scotland Yard has stated that the "so called monster" might be a wounded person, escaping the fire.

TRAGEDY IN TOOLEY STREET
The police has found the bodies of three TFL workers in the construction site at Tooley Street. One of their colleagues raised the alarms last week, when the three workers didn't attend their shifts. The bodies of the men have been found in a deep hole, uncovered by the refurbishment works that are taking place in the area. According to the Police, the bodies were horribly mutilated, which has led to the wildest speculations. The names of the three workers are being kept anonymous, following the wishes of their families.

HOROSCOPE
MARCH 8 - PISCES
You are used to making sacrifices, to prioritising the happiness of others before yours. Even though that is a noble attitude, there are times in life where the only healthy alternative is to embrace your own selfishness and allow yourself some enjoyment. Reserve one hour per day to do something you really like. Treat yourself! Your colour for this month is blue.
Echoes from the past ring back into London. Their intensity increases until they are deafening. What once was a faded memory of a glorious time, now becomes a shocking reality. The consequences of actions taken decades ago ripple into the present, altering the lives of everybody in the City. Unguided and blind, Kindred wander around, trying to make profit out of the reigning chaos.

The appearance of four mysterious figures turned the city upside down. Mistrust and jealousy became the official currency of London. Serpents and fiends rise to power, misdirecting the blaming eyes of the Camarilla towards imaginary enemies. Only those with clear vision and the ability to trust each other strive, while the rest run towards a shallow grave.

1st Floor

The first floor was a dark stained hardwood with heavy tables, bolted to the floor with solid iron brackets. Didn't want to make it easy for people to start brawls. The chairs were all weighty, dark wood and leather. The wood was all thick and hard to break into anything easily used as a stake. The bar was massive with several heavy barrels along the back, giving it a bit of the old Irish Pub vibe to it, only more settled for quiet conversation. A cold fireplace was built into the back wall. There was easily room for a dozen people to sit around the various tables without crowding.

It had taken quite a while to sort the place out, remove everything damaged by water and replacing it. Polishing all the wood, re-enameling all the furniture to prevent rot from setting in. The books had to be reordered, reshelved and put back. Then changing around the office and tearing out the panic room to replace it with a quite conference area. Lynx had also splurged to replace the sprinkler system with a halon gas system which wouldn't destroy the interior if it was set off. Though he left the sprinkler heads in hopes that it would discourage further vandalism.

Now he was back behind the bar, polishing it in a simple black button down shirt and slacks. His blond hair gelled into an artful tangle. A thumb thick scar traveling down the left side of his face. He wasn't sure what would come of the reopening. But his stubborn streak was glad Jason had approved it. He actually enjoyed being a bartender and it was good not to have so many free hours in the day. It made him prone to irreverent behavior and drink.

He didn't approve, he really did not approve. But the Ghoul has asked, not pleaded, but asked and argued and shown that he was about as stubborn as the Swede himself. So while the Gangrel did not in any way approve of the re-opening, he was allowing it as he had made a promise and intended to stick by it. He had promised the younger man that he would interfere as little in his life as possible, and limit him no more than he absolutely had to.
Hence... after a good while of arguing, he had begrudgingly agreed to allow Lynx to re-open the place. He was not pleased with it, he saw little to no reason to re-open it, he had no interest in devoting more time in trying to help out the local members of his Sect, but, yes, the place was re-opened, Jason's office was moved to another floor, and Lynx was given free reign to run the place.

Of course, the paranoid Gangrel would end up spending as much time there as he had before, though for his Ghoul's sake rather than trying to make any kind of impact on the people that may or may not visit. If anything, the venture so far had proved to him that he wasn't a people's person. The general population annoyed him too easily for him to be considered that.

Though regardless, he was in his office, where hopefully he would be able to stay while he worked and Lynx did his thing.

Lynx was aware of how generous Jason was being. It had taken a sheer effort of will for him to stand up to Jason to lay out his reasons for wanting to reopen the place. But the truth was, he'd been enjoying being a barkeeper. Not a lot of people had used the place yet, but... he liked the place. Liked the library of all sorts of books upstairs. Liked the pool hall. Liked the quiet place to play his music.

The truth was he felt the place had a good atmosphere and he didn't want to see it go to waste. The place captured the perfect atmosphere between an old fashioned Pub and a refined Gentleman's Club; just without the stuffy judgmental proprietor. So he'd laid out his reasoning and gotten lucky in having a master who was willing to listen.

He hoped folks would actually start using the place. He'd always enjoyed meeting new people. It had taken a while to get the bottles refrigerated and moved back to the bar and he'd kept things quiet while it was being rebuilt. Now he wasn't sure who was going to come visit but he hoped that it would be a good night.

That said, all there was left to do was sit back and wait to see who came in.

Someone was actually, already in. The occasional thump of a large objects moving, and distant trains of flute music came from a conference room just up the stairs, just soft enough that it didn't interfere with Lynx's tunes. The queer little woman with the sparrows was getting used to the space she'd been give permission to use rearranging it to suit her needs.

Lynx chuckled when he heard the thumping and he nodded his head respectably towards the ceiling. Wishing the business woman well in setting up her office. He wasn't really sure what she did. Something about helping people experience the magical? The whole thing had confused him. But she'd been another key in his argument to get Jason to let the club reopen, since they'd entered into a business arrangement before the fire and all.

Lynx hummed to himself as he polished the bar. He had a nice bottle of Glenlivet sitting next to the cash register and a wide mouthed glass. He had NOT, as yet, poured himself a drink. He reflected that a lot of people would find his habit of a casual glass now and again bad business. He supposed they might be right in theory. On the other hand his tolerance for alcohol was pretty high and he had noticed that he functioned better on booze than some folks did sober. Which didn't mean he'd drive himself home, if he overindulged. No sense being stupid after all.

Still, the bar was about as polished as he was going to get it. So he took out an empty bottle and practiced tossing it up and down. He was kind of curious to see if he could learn that bottle flipping routine from Cocktails & Dreams...

Two stacked large plastic totes squeezed through the doors. Under them were the slender legs of a woman in dark slacks. They stopped after a few steps and a pair of doe-like blue eyes and a head of short blond hair poked up over the top. The totes swung back and forth; apparently lost.

A muted voice came from behind the full plastic boxes "Um... somewhere in here there should be a Ms. Sherwood? Did I come in the wrong door?"

Reggie had not expected to find herself in a nice pub.

A small sparrow that had been hitching a ride on the boxes fluttered off and up the stairs.

Lynx blinked bright green eyes at the totes and walked over, reaching out a golden tanned hand to clasp the box and steady it. Then he leaned around until he could actually SEE the person carrying them. Without really thinking about it he lifted the top box off the stack and got a solid grip on it.

"She's upstairs. Lemme show ye the way. I'm Lynx O'Rourke, Barkeep of this fine establishment. Please te meet ye."

A soft tenor voice with a warm Irish brogue greeted her as he chuckled and turned to walk towards the stairs. If she looked carefully she'd realize the young man in question, who couldn't be much more than his earliest 20s, was wearing a pair of leather soled sandals in lieu of real shoes.

Still he'd guide her up to the third floor where Piscina had been given a relatively large and posh conference room to make into her office. He wasn't sure what it looked like NOW, but it used to have some pretty damned comfy big couches and a nice oak table in it. He looked over his shoulder back at Reggie and flashed her a wink.

"So, just te be clear, she isn't connected te Sherwood Forest is she? Seems a silly question in me head and all, but I've found a lot of sillier things in the world and well, it's a romantic sort of name. Ye know what I mean?"

His tone was whimsical, it wasn't irreverent or rude however. Just a young man who enjoyed gabbing and found something amusing to talk about.

Suddenly a young girl with dark hair and chocolate brown eyes stormed in and looked around! "Lynx!" She ran towards him and followed him and whoever was with him upstairs. "I'm so glad things are up and running again and to see you are doing good."

The Gangrel was dressed in bright and colourful clothes. It was not just her young age and mind that caused her to dress like that but also perhaps the fact that she wanted to bring a bit of sunshine in her life. Maybe she wanted to recreate that warmth she missed so much.

Her pink high heels clicked on the floor and the stairs. Her legs were bare till an inch above the knees where they reached a frilled skirt which was in coloured layers of black and pink. A black cardigan hung open to reveal the pink top she was wearing. On the front was "I love you" in different colours and different languages. They were placed in such a way they created the shape of a heart.

While humming a probably unknown song to them because it was a Dutch one she followed the two. She was chirpy and the thought never crossed her mind that she might be disturbing someone this evening.

"Need help with those things? I'm Leslie by the way. I haven't met you yet. How are you?" Yep... she sure was chirpy and pretty full on.

Behind the plastic tote was a fresh-faced slip of a girl in her late teens or early twenties. Her blonde hair was done up in barrettes. She was wearing black leather chelsea boots, black pleated pin-stripe pants with a modest cuff; and a black velvet vest over a puffy white blouse. There was a circular silver brooch of two dancing sparrows pinned to the vest on the left side above her bosom.

"Hi!"
Susan said to Lynx. She absently bit her bottom lip as she got a good look at the handsome Irishman. She seemed a bit flustered as she spoke "Uh... I'm Susan... I work with, yes Ms. Sherwood. Yes... like the woods, but no she is not from there, I don't think anyway..." Susan blushed and turned slightly away after he winked at her.

Then... the other woman showed up. For a moment Susan looked almost disappointed. "Um. Hello Leslie. I'm Susan. And, thanks. Um.. we got it" she said, indicating the totes she and Lynx was carrying.

Lynx studied the girl for a moment, then shifted his eyes to Leslie, the smile didn't change. The Irishman shook his head since they were almost at the top of the stairs.

"Thanks Les but we're almost there. Got te deliver some things for the esteemed Madam Sherwood, who shall be enacting business out o'our upstairs. I'm not sure WHAT exactly she'll be doing because it was a bit over me head. I think she's a sorceress o'some kind."

He said it with a humorous grin and a light chuckle. He shifted them around the corner and when they came to one of the polished old wood doors he reached up to knock gently with a long fingered hand.

"It's a pleasure te meet ye Susan and te see ye again Leslie. I can only hope that this time around nobody decides te set some of the books in the reading library on fire. Whatever tall prat it was that did it... ah well."

His face colored for a moment as he contemplated what he'd LOVE to do to the tall figure that set the fires. Unfortunately he didn't have a clue what the man had looked like. Jason said he was tall, but Lynx couldn't see anything on the footage.

He stood easily outside Piscina's new office. As far as he could tell the totes weren't all that heavy, though his sense of scale in that regard had been a bit skewed since he'd become Jason's ghoul. He'd never been able to carry C.J all that easily BEFORE he became a ghoul, afterwords it was pretty easy. Part of it might just be he'd stopped acting like the slightest bit of hard work would cause him to die a slow agonizing death. He reflected in the privacy of his own head that he'd been something of a pansy before he'd gotten beat near to death. Did wonders for your sense of perspective.

Besides, he had this fun dueling scar going down the left side of his face now.

Eventually, someone would open the door to the conference room. When this happened, there wouldn't be a conference room inside.

There was, instead, what appeared to be a thick, verdant forest.

It was so thick is was difficult to see, but it appeared to spread out in all directions. There was no sign of the small traveler woman.

"Ah!" Susan said, strangely relieved. Seeing a verdant forest in a second floor room was proof positive she was in the right place. She wiggled past Lynx and into the woods. "My Lady!" Susan called. The slender ghoul put down the tote she had been carrying and then had a seat on it as if it were a bench... or a stump; which she expected it might shortly become.

She grinned over at Lynx and Leslie and waved them into the... forest if they had not already entered. "Isn't it wonderful?!" she said brightly.

"Hello Susan. It's a pleasure to meet you." To Leslie everyone was a pleasure to meet. It was only afterwards due to people's actions and what they said that the pleasure got either better or vanished.

She understood why Lynx reacted like that and she knew why he felt like that. In her own memory the image of her house burning down still scarred her. Never would she be able to leave that behind her. It wasn't fair when someone decided to take all you have away from you. If the male ghoul hadn't been carrying stuff around she would probably have hugged him even though she knew Jason didn't want Lynx to get touched but that sure had to be an exception, no?

Ah well it didn't really matter now for they had reached the third floor and when the office... erm? Office? That was a small forest! If she had breath it would have been taken away by the sight of the trees inside an office.

"It is... amazing!"

Her brown eyes twinkled like stars in the night sky while she touched one of the trees. It felt so real! Almost did she hug it... almost... but she restrained herself from doing so. "Who did this? And how?" The curiosity and awe were no mistake in her voice. This was wonderful!

Lynx's jaw dropped open in shock. His green eyes nearly bugged out of his head in surprise. It was, amazing.

"I ah... wow. That is pretty amazing. How, er, is she a wizard?"

Lynx stepped in through the door and set the tote down, then he reached out slowly to poke a tree. He was shocked when he FELT wood under his finger. This was a shock to say nothing. He looked at Susan and then Leslie wonderingly. He was fairly sure he weighed more than Susan, so he wasn't about to sit down on a tote when he didn't know what was in it. But a big part of him wanted too.

He clasped his hands behind his back to avoid breaking something. He was remarkably GOOD at knocking stuff down on occasion and had no desire to somehow break Piscina's magic.

"Let's not use the word wizard, Mister O'Rourke. You'll make the warlocks fussy if they ever hear you."

The foliage by the door rustled, and Pisces pushed her way through. There bits of leaves and twigs in her hair. These tiny, torn off pieces of plant were actually the entire point of this current exercise. She was experimenting with detritus--how to realistically make pieces of a single illusion break apart into smaller bits, creating the impression of granularity. That in itself was easy enough, but simulating the randomness of an actual forest could be difficult. Different colors and shapes of leaves. Different sizes of twigs. Occasional itchiness, and poking. It was a complex problem that required a dynamic set of rules to be established during the creation of the treeline.

To an outside observer, though, they were just twigs and leaves.

"My Susan," she said happily. "Ah, you brought the cubes. Lovely. Go in and put them in the glade. Straight ahead. Then you shall go downstairs and have a drink."

Piscina viewed Hospitality as the perfect opportunity to get her ghoul acclimated to intereacting with other Kindred and other ghouls. It was pleasant, saw a small but steady stream of customers, and had two Ancillae on hand to utterly destroy anyone who offered harm. Ideal.

And there was a new face. A pretty face.

"And I do not believe we have met. I am Piscina Sherwood. What name do you like to use for yourself?"

Susan promptly stood and gave a quick bow "Yes, my Lady" she said. Then the slender ghoul collected up her tote and carried it forward through the wood. She pushed through the branches that teased against her fresh face, and there was the slight crunching of sticks breaking under her feet.

She returned to retrieve the second tote, assuming Lynx surrendered it. She gave the Irishman a little smile then bounced off with that box into the woods.

A few sparrows chirped and fluttered through the branches up above.

Lynx was as flabbergasted as Leslie was. Everything got lost to her though when she touched the tree and placed her cheek against it almost as if she was listening and searching for a heart beat or something to give her any sign it was real. It smelled real, it felt real but it couldn't be real, could it?

The entire time she stood with her eyes closed against the tree. If only she could have this inside her Haven but that would drive Emily mental. The leaves would fall and make a mess; it would attract rodents or other things that would poke Emily's OCD the wrong way.

"And I do not believe we have met. I am Piscina Sherwood. What name do you like to use for yourself?"

Came the sudden voice as a distant echo in her ear till it slowly found its way in her mind and woke her up. With a quick spin she turned on her heels and gave an embarrassed shrug. "Erm... sorry... what? My name?" Her eyes wildly searched for the others. She was surprised to see that there was a young woman standing there. But then again in their world young had a different meaning. The Susan woman from before seemed to have disappeared but Lynx was still there.

"Leslie. My name is Leslie and we haven't met indeed." she extended her hand towards the woman and if she accepted the handshake then Leslie would be able to get even closer and get a good scent of her. Might be useful for the future and once she knew how the stranger smelled than she would easily recognise.

"I'm sorry I was completed lost in this. It is amazing! Have you done this? And how? It's impossible to grow from scratch and it needs air and sunshine and nutritious ground." Again she looked around before resting her eyes upon Piscina who had now earned all her attention and even more so her curiosity.

Lynx nodded his head in response to Piscina's admonition to avoid using the word wizard. He let Susan go about her duties and take the tote and he stuck his hands into his pockets. He was scared he'd break something if he got too touchy feely. That didn't seem to bother Leslie who was giving the trees a pretty thorough examination. When the woman whom HE suspected was some kind of dedicated witch or something started talking to Leslie he stepped back to give them a touch of privacy.

He might be running the place now, but he was determined to set up a simple rule. Don't eavesdrop on the affairs of vampires. Especially vampire witches with magical powers. Because growing a forest inside a conference room definitely seemed to be proof of magical powers to HIM. It definitely hadn't come up in any of the rough lessons Jason had given him on vampire powers.

So he looked around, his green eyes sparkling with interest as he examined the forest. He was doing everything in his power to politely make it clear he was NOT listening in on Leslie and Piscina's conversation. This was pretty cool. He idly wondered if he was zoned for an atrium. Did he need special insurance for this?

There was indeed a glade a short way through the trees. The glade was about the size of the conference hall, and surrounded by thick forest that would be impossible to traverse without breaking tree-trunks. This implied infinite space, while still preventing inhabitants from walking into the still entirely real walls of the conference room, which this illusion obscured. It was nighttime, and the moon and stars were clear above her. All the luggage was inside in quite short order.

"Thank you for you help, Mister O'Rourke," Pisces said before the ghoul backed out of earshot, though since she had not seen him help Susan carry the totes up, it was somewhat ambiguous what help she was thanking him for.

Piscina smiled at the 'amazing' comment, clearly gratified. She also smiled because she suspected she had someone willing to engage.

"Thank you, Leslie," said Piscina. "I am glad it pleases you. I did do this. And yes, trees need all those things. And if you would like to come in, you will see that they have all that their dark green hearts could desire. By Mister Dahlgren's kind dispensation, nothing is as it seems in conference room 2B."

That was the designation on the little plaque by the door, and it amused Piscina to have a mundane name for a miracle of a place.

"Can I interest you in a walk in the woods?"

Lynx took Piscina's tacit dismissal to slip out of the room and head back down to the bar where he could resume polishing his bottles. He didn't want to get in the way of Leslie and Ms Sherwood's information discussion. The 5'7 somewhat stocky little Irishman drifted down the stairs on bare feet and left the vampires to whatever mischief they wanted to get up to, as long as it didn't involved fire.

Fire bad.
