The Kindred Chronicle
Key Figures
THE MONSTER OF EALING
Last night, several people reported the sighting of a "screaming red monster" in a quiet neighbourhood of Ealing. After a power shortage in the area, a building caught fire. It was then when, what was described as a "man shaped, footless creature" emerged from the flames, leaping, running, and screaming. One woman has told our reporters that the man had "teeth like a wolf, and the face of the devil". Police officers are still trying to get to the bottom of this; neither the power shortage nor the fire have still been explained. A spokesperson from Scotland Yard has stated that the "so called monster" might be a wounded person, escaping the fire.

TRAGEDY IN TOOLEY STREET
The police has found the bodies of three TFL workers in the construction site at Tooley Street. One of their colleagues raised the alarms last week, when the three workers didn't attend their shifts. The bodies of the men have been found in a deep hole, uncovered by the refurbishment works that are taking place in the area. According to the Police, the bodies were horribly mutilated, which has led to the wildest speculations. The names of the three workers are being kept anonymous, following the wishes of their families.

HOROSCOPE
MARCH 8 - PISCES
You are used to making sacrifices, to prioritising the happiness of others before yours. Even though that is a noble attitude, there are times in life where the only healthy alternative is to embrace your own selfishness and allow yourself some enjoyment. Reserve one hour per day to do something you really like. Treat yourself! Your colour for this month is blue.
Echoes from the past ring back into London. Their intensity increases until they are deafening. What once was a faded memory of a glorious time, now becomes a shocking reality. The consequences of actions taken decades ago ripple into the present, altering the lives of everybody in the City. Unguided and blind, Kindred wander around, trying to make profit out of the reigning chaos.

The appearance of four mysterious figures turned the city upside down. Mistrust and jealousy became the official currency of London. Serpents and fiends rise to power, misdirecting the blaming eyes of the Camarilla towards imaginary enemies. Only those with clear vision and the ability to trust each other strive, while the rest run towards a shallow grave.

Welcome To The Night

You find yourself in London on a dreary, foggy night like any other. But what lurks in the shadows is the stuff of fantasies and nightmares, far from mortal reality.

This game uses the cursed and immortal vampiric condition as a backdrop to explore themes of morality, depravity, the human condition, salvation, and personal horror. We are a writing and roleplaying community dedicated to telling complex and engaging stories.

Your fate is your own. Mingle among the ivory-tower elite in the Camarilla, join the fight of the discontented and chaotic Anarch rabble, or set out independently and attempt to survive in London's nighttime underworld. Anything is possible in our World of Darkness.

So my latest idea (yes I know I change my mind a bit often) is to play a mortal. As someone rightfully pointed out, though, playing a mortal is not that great fun if you don't have a vampire to interact with. Therefore I am asking if any of you is in need of a mortal acquaintance (who might be a potential ghoul or childe or just a vampire-aware contact).

Specifically, my char might be an American girl who started out as the rebellious kid of an hyper-religious family and later was left to her less than responsible aunt. Brought up thinking she was eeevil just because she was curious and not submissive, she realized in time that the criminal career her father had "prophetized" for her was not actually a good idea. A couple of good encounters helped her to put herself together. She went to college and got passionate about the history of heresies/free thought/something along these lines.
At some point a vampire reveled himself to her (maybe she had witnessed to a small violation of the masquerade, maybe the vampire was testing her in some way, maybe something else... let's see if this can be exploited). She was surprisingly open minded about it, she had known both awful and decent humans and just assumed the same might be among vampires. She wasn't told very much about the vampire society, though. She perfectly understands why not to talk about it, although she secretly wishes to know more (she still has a small problem with authority but she can recognize a good advice).
She's now in London for her PhD (on a regular subject, nothing too occult). She's not looking for vampires but she might be more receptive than most.

Any chance of meaningful interaction? Otherwise I go back to some of my vampire ideas. ;)

Hmm... Lessa is actually getting ready to go back to school (medical school, to be exact), with your character studying for her PhD, I foresee a lot of library time in both their futures. Which would give them a possible way to meet. There are, however, a few interesting caveats with that.

First, the idea of ghouling someone is not really something she finds appealing. She's an odd little Ventrue in many ways, and has issue with that whole "taking away someone's free will" thing. She does have one ghoul, but she inherited her and Beverly would have died without vampire blood. However! One of the reasons she's going to medical school is because she's also studying to be something called a "Camarilla Warden" - and their whole POINT is to protect the Masquerade. So, when she finds out that your character knows about vampires, she may ghoul her to protect her, assuming they've gotten on up to that point.

There was a second point, but I have managed to forget what it was. I'll reply again if I remember...

Given how much she cares about her free will she'd rather keep tje masquerade in other ways. This if I reason IC..Although I don't know if here some mortals are allowed to know at all. In some scenarios you find those. Another idea is that she has been observed since her first contact, so see if any of you is interested in having been contacted by the american vampires.

Heh. Ghouling would be a last resort for Lessa, too. If she could protect her without it, she would much rather. Was just throwing that out there as one possibility (And the only thing that could have gotten her to ghoul the girl if that was something you were looking for).

As a player I wouldn't mind, but if I think IC... she's not really the "happiness in slavery" type. I guess she might make a good vampire but she's not running around looking for it.

As a heads' up: getting the Prince to approve the Embrace for a new Ventrue may be non-trivial, especially for someone so recently inducted into the Domain's Board. It could be interesting roleplay of course! But the Prince would naturally be inclined to think that an Embrace candidate for Clan Ventrue should have served as a ghoul for a while.

He cares much less about other clans. Being of the Princes' blood is a double-edged sword in that regard. ;)

LOL We're still playing around with ideas. For all we know, they'll end up hating each other and it will be a moot point. Talk of ghouling and/or embrace is a ways into the future, still.

OOC I'd be okay with any of the scenarios, be it embracing her, ghouling her, or leaving her just be what she is. She's heard of blood dolls and such, so leaving the girl be wouldn't be too big of a stretch. IC, in order of her preference would be leaving her be, embracing her, and ghouling as a last resort. Her joining the Camarilla Wardens might add a layer of complication to the whole thing, but it aslo gives her someone she can talk to about what her options really are.

LOL I don't want to displease the Prince before even arriving :D. Seriously, I want to see if the character has some possible and interesting use, thereof the purpose of this discussion. Otherwise I go back to my vampire plans.

Besides, as much as I'd like to play with Lessa, if I think to my char concept she wouldn't ever have the manners to make a good Ventrue (although I get nobody's "typical" here).

Well, whether or not it ever goes to any form of bringing her into the fold, there's certainly opportunity for them to meet and possibly become friends.

LOL I totally understand you wanitng to know before you make her if she'd have some use. I have an idea for a mortal of my own, but I'd almost prefer for him to just remain oblivious - not sure how well that would work in terms of actually getting playing time.

Your character wouldn't be displeasing the Prince. Non-Kindred are barely people in his eyes. Lessa would be in trouble. ;)
