There was a side benefit of having Jason back in Norway. The old Gangrel had a very good grasp of shipments and such from his import export business. The antique world required a lot of very odd cargo shipments to go to and from places. So it wasn't unusual for shipments to go to odd locations or have special handling requirements. In this case they were insulated boxes that Lynx picked up special under Jason's shipping labels. All carefully inspected and labeled by bribed customs officials. There were advantages to Jason's mentor being a rather aged Ventrue with his fingers in a great number of pies. Indeed as far as Lynx knew the man hadn't hunted for himself in decades. His public face was that of a Museum Curator, but he also ran a number of charities that focused on raising blood donations for Norway. Norway, out of all the countries of Europe, was one of the worst for having it's own volunteer blood donors. So the country was forced to import blood and plasma to keep up it's supply. Kristoff Jorgenson controlled several of the venues through which the country managed this. In fact he controlled several of them. So while blood was being imported to fill the hospitals of Norway, a hefty percentage was being skimmed off the top to fill the various blood bars and meeting places of Kristoff's friends and allies. Indeed most of the blood for the Hospitality Club came from Chechnya. It was all carefully screened to make it disease free, but in that relatively lawless are Kristoff's agents ran a thriving business trading blood for money, and not very much at that. In areas where you could buy a human as a sex slave for a few hundred American dollars people didn't ask to many questions when you brought in "test groups" to study the "affects of alcohol and drugs on human blood." Indeed some of the blood actually went to legitimate research clinics where they did indeed study the effects of alcohol and drugs on the blood streams. The rest was carefully preserved and packaged and shipped wherever the Ventrue wished it to go. This allowed him to sell blood at a remarkably low price, blood that he had carefully controlled and labeled. If sometimes the lower income bracket of those donors disappeared entirely, well, people vanish all the time in the chaos of those regions. Kristoff had hinted that he could provide Lynx with harder drugged blood just as easily. The Irishman was considering it. He wasn't sure he wanted to deal with vampires tripping on Acid or Cocaine in his club. The Opium blood he was considering. From what Kristoff had told him it generally just made the vampires mellow, lethargic and peaceful. That might not be a terrible thing. Still, for now he was content to sign for his shipments and send his payments to Jason, who passed them along to Kristoff. The Ventrue always collected his cut. They might not be able to provide the fancier stuff that some vampires considered a requirement. No blood wines, no vitae, no werewolf blood, no fae blood. But black market human blood, filled with their substance abuse. That they could provide, and did. It was amazing how much blood you could accumulate when one pint in a thousand was carefully redirected. There was always "spoilage" and "damaged in shipment" and such. Lynx had been amazed when he realized just how much of the human blood industry was vampire controlled. He sometimes wondered if there WOULD be organizations like the Red Cross without vampires making them work. Boggled his mind. Still, worked out for him, in the end. |
