The Kindred Chronicle
Key Figures
THE MONSTER OF EALING
Last night, several people reported the sighting of a "screaming red monster" in a quiet neighbourhood of Ealing. After a power shortage in the area, a building caught fire. It was then when, what was described as a "man shaped, footless creature" emerged from the flames, leaping, running, and screaming. One woman has told our reporters that the man had "teeth like a wolf, and the face of the devil". Police officers are still trying to get to the bottom of this; neither the power shortage nor the fire have still been explained. A spokesperson from Scotland Yard has stated that the "so called monster" might be a wounded person, escaping the fire.

TRAGEDY IN TOOLEY STREET
The police has found the bodies of three TFL workers in the construction site at Tooley Street. One of their colleagues raised the alarms last week, when the three workers didn't attend their shifts. The bodies of the men have been found in a deep hole, uncovered by the refurbishment works that are taking place in the area. According to the Police, the bodies were horribly mutilated, which has led to the wildest speculations. The names of the three workers are being kept anonymous, following the wishes of their families.

HOROSCOPE
MARCH 8 - PISCES
You are used to making sacrifices, to prioritising the happiness of others before yours. Even though that is a noble attitude, there are times in life where the only healthy alternative is to embrace your own selfishness and allow yourself some enjoyment. Reserve one hour per day to do something you really like. Treat yourself! Your colour for this month is blue.
Echoes from the past ring back into London. Their intensity increases until they are deafening. What once was a faded memory of a glorious time, now becomes a shocking reality. The consequences of actions taken decades ago ripple into the present, altering the lives of everybody in the City. Unguided and blind, Kindred wander around, trying to make profit out of the reigning chaos.

The appearance of four mysterious figures turned the city upside down. Mistrust and jealousy became the official currency of London. Serpents and fiends rise to power, misdirecting the blaming eyes of the Camarilla towards imaginary enemies. Only those with clear vision and the ability to trust each other strive, while the rest run towards a shallow grave.

George sat in his living room, bringing his war diary up to date and waiting for his guest to arrive. True the topic would seem not very important but that was a thing Tristan needed to know. After finishing the diary for now, he got up and went into the kitchen, preparing the ingredients for drinks, assuming there was any need for it...

Having done that he took a book off the shelf and started reading as waiting was all he could do now...

The black Mercedes Vito stopped at the given adress and Tristan turned to Peter before getting off the car.

I try to keep it short, love... Check out, where to go afterwards.

He leaned over to Peter and kissed him quick, then left the car to walk over to the house of George.

Still he had no clue what the Primogen wanted to talk about, but it must be important, if he even called him to his haven.
Wearing brown jeans, lightbrown timberlands and a bronze coloured knitted pullover he stood in front of the door and rang the doorbell.
Combing his curly strands back he waited and listened for the sounds inside the house. Putting on a friendly smile for whomever would open the door.

After a few minutes someone came and opened the door but stood behind it so Tristan couldn't see who it was. The open door led to a small corridor with a black iron wardrobe, white walls and a green fitted carpet. Opposite of the wardrobe were two doors painted white, one leading to the left and one to the right, with the door to the left getting opened and George standing in it.

"Good evening, I'm glad you could come though I made it sound rather important, didn't I ?"

Still smiling he gestured his guest to come in and have a seat and if Tristan followed he'd see the living room, a large room with white-rose-wallpaper and a slightly faded Kashmir carpet in ivory, emerald green and amethyst on the floor, an ensemble of armchairs and a chaise longue in green plush with a coffee table in front of them, a wooden bookshelf and a chest of drawers with an old-fashioned TV resting on it. On the walls hung framed photos and documents, a picture of the Queen next to those of the recent popes and a heavy copper cross. George sat down and waited for Tristan to make himself comfortable.

Tristan wondered a bit about the hiding door opener, but then went towards George, when he appeared in the next door to the left.

Good evening George! Yes, it sounded quite important, you got me definitely curious!

Stil his smile up the younger Brujah followed his Primogen in the living room. Tristan looked around and was quite surprised about the colourful interior. Somekind he had thought things would look more... austere.

On the other hand the furnishing confirmed the kind of fatherly feeling George was radiating towards Tristan.
He sat down in one of the armchairs and leaned back to wait Georges words.

Smiling George listened to what Tristan said and nodded.

"I admit I might have been a bit drastic but as you'll walk into the lion's den, there is something I want you to know..."

After a short dramatic pause he leaned back in his armchair, looked at Tristan and continued.

"Mr. Blücher and me aren't exactly what you'd call friends... I had a little problem with him getting Prince and I dare to assume he might be carrying a bit of a grudge since that day... What leads me to the actual thing I want to tell you: Be careful around the ghouls and staff in Blythe House and especially around Blücher himself !"

Again a pause was made to let the words have an effect and then he continued again.

"They might try to get you into a bond, turn you into a spy for them or just get all the 'clan secrets' out of you... Not that they necessarily have to try, of course, but they might and that's why I'd advise you to be careful what you do and say around them, you know ?"

Tristan grinned a bit, when George mentioned him and the Prince not being friends. He had noticed the frosty atmosphere between the two men at his presentation. Maybe he wasn't that experienced as a Kindred, but he was no fool, he was able to read signs, especially when they were as obvious as these were.

Slowly he nodded, listening. Another a grin flashed, when the Primogen mentioned the "clan secrets". Anyway Tristan appreciated the precaution George showed to him. He knew about the dirty games Kindred politics contained and he wasn't that arrogant to think, he could be immune against any attacks.

Thank you very much for the warning. I sure will keep it in mind, if the Prince really calls me to Blythe House.

Most of all the young Brujah felt reliefed not to be scolded for any fault he could have comitted while the presentation. On the other hand he wasn't really convinced the Prince would ask for his services to teach his Ghouls the martial arts.

How long is Mr. Blücher Prince of London, if I may ask and what problem was it you had with it? At Cologne I remember my Grand-Sire wasn't too keen about Prince Giselher either, but our Clans had the usual "relation of reason".
To be honest, I never was too much into Kindred politics. The only I know for sure is, it's full of traps and I will do my very best to avoid them.

The young Brujahs goldenbrown eyes sparkled and he crossed one leg over the other then.

If they try to get any dark secrets from me, they will be bitterly disappointed, because there are none. Except maybe, where I hide the second key to my house.

With a soft chuckle he rested his gaze on George and waited, if the older one would explain some more about the relation between Brujah and Ventrue here at London.

"No problem, just thought you'd deserve that bit of a warning, you know ?"

"About a year and a half now. The problem is a bit complicated to explain however...It started because I had the impression he wouldn't be as good on a throne as as Primogen and I didn't like his attitude back then though it wasn't as bad as it is today of course... And I guess he has a problem with the fact I'm not afraid of telling him my opinion if it differs from his..."

George shrugged as it was probably just that, though he wouldn't speculate what was going on in Alariks brain. Why try to fathom the unfathomable after all ?

Tristan nodded thoughtful, while George answered his questions. So far it didn’t sound too unusual Brujah and Ventrue were not quite consenting to the attitudes of the other clan. Anyway “bad attitude” made the younger Kindred curious.

From your words I take you didn’t think of him as a bad Primogen, but didn’t expect him to be a good Prince. Can you explain it to me what you mean with this attitude you didn’t like and is even worse now?

A Princes bad attitude could mean a lot of things, but Tristan couldn’t think of a Ventrue who wouldn’t show a good attitude towards his Domain. Of course he was aware his experience wasn’t too much in that kind of business. And the other Primogen sure wouldn’t allow a Prince to have a bad attitude either.

Accepting other oppinions than the own was a difficult topic in general, who shouldn’t know that better than a Brujah? That was what made the difference between a leader and a despot.
On first sight Blücher hadn’t the air of a despot for Tristan. Maybe over time the picture of the Prince in the young Germans mind would complete.

The thought of the other Primogens brought Tristan to another question, he wanted to ask George.

The Prince mentioned the Chantry’s probably concerns about me dwelling in Kingston… What do you think? Could it be a problem? I only met one Tremere so far and that guy was strange enough…

Tristans eyes rested on his Primogens face, serious and waiting for the replies to his questions. One thing he had learnt about George so far, was to observe him well because obviously the British had a quite lively bodylanguage. Together with the spoken word it made a more complete image of the meanings and Tristan counted it as a sign of honesty, if someone behaved not too cool while talking.

"He's a bureaucrat and one that does seem to have a fetish for it as well... Besides he seems to be one of the typical 'better than anyone else' type. While he had his bit of that even as Primogen it was less evident and has reached a new high after his election, together with paranoia and a need to rub his communists views in everyones face... That are the things I don't like that much, you know ?"

Tenting his hands on the table, he thought a while how to continue. While he did this, his gaze wandered over the framed photographs on the wall as if the depicted people could counsel him on that matter. After a while of silence his attention focused back on Tristan and he smiled apologetically. Then as the next question got asked the smile faded into a serious grimace.

"Well, they could take offense to a Brujah going there while we have our domain, you know ? Though I'm not sure they will, you might want to prepare for the worst, just in case... Potters are territorial, after all..."

On the point of Tristan meeting a Tremere, he raised an eyebrow quizzically.

"You've met one ? May I ask what his name was ?"

'Better than anyone type' couldn't really shock or touch him anymore, he had grown up with that kind of type father, so...

Paranoia was more obvious, if he recalled the security checks there and the list of "don't bring to Blythe House" containing even Snow Globes... But it was also clear a Prince had some reasons to be paranoid, within certain limits at least.

Communist views, yeah right, Tristan noticed the "neues Deutschland" on the table there. The young Brujahs grin took a short turn into his dimples, when he thought about sharing a brotherly kiss with the blue eyed Prince. Well... he would take care, this kiss would be less brotherly, than in communist fashion. The tip of his tongue slid along his pearly whites before the grin turned back into a friendly smile.

The words about the Tremere chased away Tristans naughty thoughts immediately. He wouldn't like to leave his house because of some "territorial" Potters. But he decided to do like always, not to worry about things, that are not actually worth worrying.

Some time ago I met Xavier Hargreaves in a club I visited with my Ghoul. We had a little talk, which made clear he's a Kindred. When I asked him after his Clan, he made a big Mystery out of it, just to let a bottle soar over our table to make clear, what Clan he actually belongs to.

Tristan preferred to keep quiet about the fact, he had described his Clan as "the family with the big B like Blowjob". At least that was more masquerade-suitable than to throw any furniture across the club to show off his heritage.
His honeybrown eyes lay on George now, curious, if the Primogen knew "cobra-eyes"

George scratched his head and thought if he was familiar with the name or at least had a face connected with it. It took quite a long time for him to think that over and finally he shook his head.

"Doesn't ring a bell but I don't know all the Potters in town... half at most..."

Hearing about the way this specific one made his clan known he frowned.

"You were in a place where no danger could arise from that little trick, I hope... Anything else would have been foolish of him..."

Tristan shrugged on George’s question. As far as he was concerned it was better not to make a big fuzz of it.

What’s a safe place in times of smartphones that do better pictures than any camera some years ago? To be honest, I wasn’t very pleased but I guess to go over it without too much agitation was the better solution there.

For a short moment the younger Brujah pondered on George’s statement not to know half of the warlocks. He hadn’t know only one of them back in Cologne. Ben always was rather annoyed about them. He used to say they are hiding in their Chantry like sneaky rats served by trillions of Ghouls.

He then stated to me not to go out very much, seemed more to be somekind of experiment to him. I advised him not to do such ilk in public anymore and also to buy a drink in a club.
Can you give me some names of the Warlocks of note? Just to know the names in case…

Tristan smiled cheerful over to George. Sometimes the Primogen of London reminded him very much on his own Grand-Sire, even if Heinrich was way louder. But both had a kind of fatherly demeanor for Tristan. Not so many Eldest would invite a simple neonate to their home and even give protective advises. He appreciated this very much.

George rubbed his chin while thinking on the matter of 'secure' areas for that matter and he found that even Muse wasn't entirely safe...

"Well, there are certain floors in the Muse, for example, though there are certain risks there as well... I think you're right, both with places being unsafe and the approach you took on the solution."

Hearing the 'going out is sort of an experiment' thing he nodded as it seemed to fit. Most Potters seemed to be of that sort, but he wouldn't bet on it. On the topic of names he thought a bit before answering as he needed to connect faces with names and separate those that didn't matter anymore from those who did.

"Well, first of all we have Primogen Towser, though I dare assuming you'll rarely see him as he leaves the chantry only on official duty, it seems... Then we have the Harpy, Dr. Wilke usually found in the Muse or anywhere she can ruin people's days if she's in that mood... Jaeger is out of town and ex-Primogen O'Dwyer isn't of importance anymore as well, I think..."

Tristan was relieved George agreed with his solution of the situation. He wouldn't have liked it to be accused for being involved in a breach of Masquerade.

With a thoughtful nod he listened to the names and explanations of his Elder. A little smile flickered around his lips, when the Primogen mentioned the night-ruining moods of the Harpy. Well no one blames a snake for biting, it's her job... Better not to get in her focus and prevent the “bites”.
Would be interesting to put faces to these names. Was it common a Tremere being Harpy? Back in Cologne he remembered a Toreador was in that position.

I'll keep these names in mind, maybe I have the occasion sometime to add faces to them.
Do you still have anything more to talk about? If not, I would hate it to occupy your precious time with my curiosity!

Tristan again gave George a smile and an open gaze. If there was more to talk about, he would be pleased to answer whatever to his Primogen, but he didn't want Peter to wait forever in the car.

George didn't seem convinced that opportunity could be a good thing. Shrugging he spoke.

"Maybe, though I wouldn't recommend it... Especially the Harpy seems to be alright, but at least in my opinion she enjoys some aspects of her job too much..."

After a bit of thinking he shook his head and got up, as he couldn't think of something.

"Nothing I could think of right now. It was a pleasure having you here and I hope you won't get in trouble..."

As soon as George got up also Tristan pushed himself up on his feet too. His honeybrown eyes glittered cheerful when he bowed his head to the Primogens words.

No worries George, I will not go out and seek for them. I just meant to add the faces at any official occasions maybe. And yes, I give my best to stay out of troubles of any kind.
Have a pleasant and safe night and thank you for warning me!

With a friendly smile he offered his hand to his Elder, expecting a Ghoul to lead him out of the Primogen’s haven.

Again he pondered about being happy to have easygoing Clanmates like George and Franca making him feel home in London. Too bad they were not more numerous like back in Cologne. On the other hand it was a good occasion to get in touch with other Clans he didn’t know too well so far.
But now it was time to have some fun with Peter! Finally he got his Ghoul going out and he wanted him to enjoy the night just to keep him from sitting at home all the time.

With a smile George took and shook Tristans hand then led him to the door himself.

"Good night, Tristan."

After he was alone again, he resumed his paperwork for the clan affairs he was planning to do once the opportunity presented itself.
