Chapter 1. Chapter 2: Leslie and the Enfield Foodbank adventure. Prologue During her nights in London Leslie had required quite a bit of money. Even though she doesn't write officially she has found ways to gain an income. Stealing odds one way but there's another. Let's say Malkavians make good friends and are creative. This information is on a need-to-know-basis so we aren't going to say much about it. Now the next step in the Queen Bee transformation is finding minions without them knowing what they really are and what they will be doing. Also the less questions they ask the better and it has to be cheap labour. Where to find such desperate people? Because ghouling every fool was too much work. After some internet searching the idea to help in a foodbank facility seemed like a good start. People who had a rough time in life could use the money you could offer them for small jobs such as being a courier of delicate packages. Hence the search for people who don't ask questions. Sadly enough those were also people who were expendable and easily replaced. It was time to get her head out of the clouds and while she still could love the human race and respect them she also had to admit and accept that they could be a tool when needed. It was a difficult decision she had made but one that was necessary for her self-preservation. One of these nights she should visit the facility and make a plan how to best wriggle her way in. Most likely with a sweet face and an even sweeter smile. Next mission: get accepted to help them and gain trust of the locals. Become their angel of salvation. |

For a few nights already she had been helping out at the food bank. During all the working she learned how the system worked. The collection of food at stores, people who donated, lists of those who enrolled them for a food packet, the many ways of communicating with everyone and troublesome families and teenagers that need help. Leslie saw a lot things that tugged at her heart. The many stories of people who worked hard and still didn't manage to get around every month. Young people who had a bad youth and some had made decisions that they shouldn't have. This was challenging her to the deepest part of her being. After what she had done in those few Sabbat years she was trying to redeem herself by doing good for the humans. They were very important. Their blood kept Kindred alive and they could do all sorts of tasks for them during the day time. She knew this was important. She knew she had to be selfish about this but that didn't mean it made it any easier. The many stories haunted her on her way to one of her Havens. Not to mention that some began to really like her. She dressed up nicely to try and look smart and a bit like a rich kid. One night she even donated money to the charity which gained her more and more influence bit by bit. This wasn't about getting into the higher structure of the food bank because that would develop through time. This was about starting at the bottom. Gaining trust with the people in need and with the volunteers who helped here. One night she found herself chatting with a group of friends. They had found strength in each other. They had all been neglected by their parents. Some had been kicked out, other parents had just left or were dead. It was a mental blockade that slowly but surely started to crumble down. The Gangrel had to learn how to distance herself from such sobbing stories. It didn't fit her vampire state of being. Now if only her mind adapted to that survival instinct of her Beast this would go much easier. It was a bigger challenge for herself than to win this people over. Not only did she encounter groups of youngster but also people who were at the edge of society. They lost their jobs, have stacks of debts and some were even homeless. Some had trusted the wrong person and now they were on their way of doing the same. That fact needed to settle down in her mind. Each night was a step closer to receiving their respect and their trust but it would take a lot more work and a lot of determination. She told herself it was for a greater good. |

Several nights after a good conversation with a few people she followed them home to see where they really lived and how bad the situation really was. It was mental torture as she saw some who had it really tough. Somehow the money they would get if they did some errands would improve their life if they were wise. It were such thoughts that kept her going and that reminded her there was always good and evil in combination. You couldn't have one without the other. Her mind slowly accepted the fact that in the depths of her own being a monster lay hidden and that these little actions kept it at bay most of the time. This way she had control and this way it was better than just freaking out and having a frenzy. Slowly but surely she hadn't only been preparing the mortals for the past two weeks but also herself. Keeping the image of herself as still being able to protect all human kind was foolish. Such distorted way of looking at the world should have gotten her killed already after she had left the Sabbat. She wondered why she was so lucky to still walk around and stalk the night. Now with all the new friendships she had founded she was sure that she could get a more serious attitude. It was about time that others saw her for who she really was. Not merely the bright girl who loves pink. No. Someone they could rely on and someone who was building her empire in Enfield. Let looks deceive them all. She was about the strike back to all those naysayers. Of course she knew she would still have to dedicate evenings here to maintain her contacts. Perhaps her ghoul Cameron could help in this as well. After all he was a police officer and should be able to give her information on the people she had met up till now. It was wonderful when all the pieces of the puzzle fell together and another chapter could get closed. Though this one was been a bumpy road of mixed emotions and worries. The End... Chapter 3...
