His back and forth with the Prince made Marcus a bit upset. A pleasant evening turned into a sour feeling of hatred for all of those involved in the matter of Mrs Carter, excluding himself of course. Nothing was done right unless Marcus did it himself. Now there was a Nosferatu telling a Ventrue to mind his word choices. To Marcus, this incident caused the very society of Kindred as he knew it to turn upside down. Once he heard the other line pick up, Marcus started to calmly speak. "Good evening Mr Harris. Marcus Russo.. There seems to be an unfortunate problem here. Why is the Prince contacting me in regards to releasing Mrs Carter's body from any holdings that she may be under? Did you leave her here? Why does the Prince still think I have her? Something isn't being explained appropriately here and now I fear there is a Ventrue somewhere in London who I have no accountability for. His Highness would like Mrs Carter sent to Dusseldorf immediately, so I hope you still have her body. If so, don't trouble yourself. I'll send Mr Cornwall and some of the security staff here over to collect my Clanswoman's body. I do apologize for having to get you involved in all of this, Mr Harris. You do still have Mrs Carter in your possession, correct?" Edited by Elagabalus, Sunday, 18. October 2015, 04:16.

And once again it was the damned telephone ringing, disturbing George while doing important things. Visibly upset he put the map back in its case, excusing himself and picked up the phone, hearing Marcus speak, wondering what his problem was. "Good evening Mr. Russo. It seems the Prince considers it... respectful to formally give you the responsibility of organising the release, as you are her Primogen. Matter of command chain and things like that, you know ?" Rolling his eyes and mentally banging his head against the wall he listened and didn't understand why Russo felt the need to make such a show of it. A letter would have sufficed, after all. "Indeed I do have her in my possession and I do think I'll have to trouble myself for two reasons I hope you can understand and relate to..." He paused to let Marcus have a bit of time before stating these reasons making him liked perhaps less by this, though he hoped not. Being hated by a fellow Primogen was a thing that might be a destabilising factor on cooperation and the domain as a whole. "Firstly I do have the office of Sheriff of this domain and thusly it'd be my responsibility to see to the fact that Miss Carter gets to Düsseldorf without harm or delay and I'll be the one measured on the success of it. Therefore I have to say that unfortunately I'm not in the position to hand her over and hope you'll understand. Secondly the place where captives are held is a secret and I'd hate to spread the knowledge further than absolutely necessary. I hope you can relate to that as well and bear me no hard feelings. I accept your apology and apologize to you for not being in the position to fulfill your request." Having ended his speech on the reasons he waited if Marcus had anything more to say to that. |

It sounded as if Mr Harris was taking his duties as Sheriff a bit too seriously. The Brujah wasn't being compliant with Marcus' request to relinquish the body of Mrs Carter over to him; to Mrs Carter's very own Primogen. Being denied what he asked for always frustrated Marcus but he wasn't going to be argumentative over the phone. Mrs Carter was in the Brujah's possession and Mr Harris wasn't comfortable with revealing the location of her body, which put Marcus at the disadvantage. And being the disadvantaged one, in turn, made him feel to be the lesser one. Though he had his ways of making another Kindred speak truthfully, Mr Harris would be spared of those methods purely because of his station as Sheriff and as Primogen of clan Brujah. If only this coveration had taken place under different circumstances. Marcus kept his frustration hidden by trying to sound satisfied with the Sheriff's response. "Ah, I see. Indeed. In that case, I appreciate being informed then. I was overly worried that Mrs Carter had been misplaced, or, something to that effect." he gave a fake chuckle. "As long as she's still accounted for, then I'm satisfied." But he wasn't satisfied. He asked that his Clanswoman be returned to him, and that's what he wanted. Outright denial or refusal to cooperate with his way of doing things always wracked his nerves. He always felt that his option was thee best option. "I'll respect the secrecy of where the criminals are held and I'll just place my trust in you to deliver Mrs Carter then. To Dusseldorf, I mean. If that task causes any financial burdens on you, please, have the bill delivered to the Clermont Club and I'll be happy to reimburse you for any costs. Thank you for putting me at ease again, Mr Harris. I'm sorry for the interruption. I hope you enjoy the remainder of your evening, sir." He gave a nod out of habit before hanging up the phone if Mr Harris didn't stop him. |
