Astrid flipped the business card with her fingers several times and looked up at the street signs as she revved her engine a few times. Behind her, Maja, Thea, and Sofia pause and scope out the scene. The more she cruised this neck of London, the more she had mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, she felt nothing but loathing and disgust for this dumpy area. It looked like a shit hole, smelled like a shit hole, and felt like the inside of a shit hole. (Not that she knew from personal experience what that was really like...) However, she came to understand that Mr. Harris put in a tremendous effort to carve out this niche for himself and the Brujah. This was their turf and territory. Love it, like it, or loathe it, this was their little Garden of Eden-- theirs. Would seem a disgrace to not want to improve upon it somehow or perk this place up. Make it worth fighting for and protecting, you know? It wasn't like Brujah were traditionally granted much of anything. There were Palestinian refugees given better accommodations and given more respect than most Brujah. Maybe only the Nosferatu were regarded as worse off than them? Maybe. But that was probably changed now with the new Prince. Mr. Harris had a place somewhere out here. Trick was finding it. She called ahead and let him know she was on her way with her band-- to check in and get organized. Get things settled and situated and to know where things were at and how she could be of help or service. Wasn't it already obvious how she could help? Just looking around, someone needed to clean the shit out of the Ward. Someone needed to get the riff-raff out of here and make this place decent. Someone needed to get the locals in line. Up to now, it was probably all on Mr. Harris' shoulders. Him and any others he might have recently welcomed into the fold-- like this Mr. Krusen and Franca. Would they show up and be around? He did call a meeting, didn't he? Did he? Astrid shrugged. Why shouldn't the Brujah have their own domain? Their own space and turf? And if they were to have this space and territory, didn't they have the right to make it profitable and make it worth having? Right now, Grove Ward wasn't looking like much but some effort and connections, it could amount to something. Would she make a haven here? Doubtful. Would she relocate her business here? Hell no. Not likely. Newham was bustling and eclectic and had flavor. This area had... well she had no idea what it had but what she could see so far, she wouldn't even dump on a pawn shop. Consulting the scrap of paper with the directions Mr. Harris gave her, Astrid gestured and revved up her engine once again and proceeded to speed off with her mates following on their bikes as well. Around a few bends she came to what she believed was the right spot. Not much to look at but if it was what Mr. Harris wanted, then whatever. The man had his reasons and his tastes, she guessed. "I think we're here," Astrid announced, pulling off her helmet. "Let's have a look around and knock-knock." |

The address they were looking at was a large block-shaped building made of red bricks which even though it was neglected and showed damages from the Blitz and other wounds patched with stones in another shade of red still had an aura of greatness from the time it was new and Queen Victoria still on the height of her power, ruling not a country but an Empire... Suddenly they had the impression that they were being watched from every window that had access to the street. The gossips at their best, possibly. Upon getting to the door, a multitude of brass nameplates and buttons were visible on the side and there was one near the bottom of the whole set that bore the name they were looking for... |

"I guess this is the place," Astrid declared, checking the nameplates. It was a shame the state of this building. It was strong enough to handle the war... but somehow couldn't handle thugs. graffiti vandals, and today's urban decay and shit economy. The building was probably really something in its golden days-- about a billion years ago it would seem. The sensation of being watched and observed hadn't quite struck Astrid just yet. It was hard for her to think or imagine that she was being watched in a place that seemed so abandoned and dead. Yet she supposed it was possible that there were eyes somewhere watching her along the way here. This whole area was just creeping her out. This part of London was rough looking in a way that she had no point of reference. Tromso certainly didn't have any rough spots like this. At the urging of her mates, she pressed the button beside Mr. Harris' nameplate. "Astrid... party of four to see Mr. Harris." Edited by Astrid, Sunday, 9. October 2016, 19:56.

With an audible buzzing the door opened and allowed them to enter. Once they did a white door, the only white one at the ground level opened and a tall and burly woman in black leather with a red bandana covering her hair walked out, looking at them, seemingly sizing them up before speaking in a hoarse alto voice. "Indeed, the boss expects you... Enter and be welcome..." Jane then led them through the door into a small corridor with white wallpaper,a green fitted carpet and a simplistic wardrobe made of black iron. After anyone wiling to had used the wardrobe the tour continued through the left of two white doors leading into the depths of the flat, this one led into what seemed to be the living room. Upon crossing the door they entered a large room with white-rose wallpaper and a faded cashmere carpet in emerald green, ivory and amethyst on the floor. The interior consisted of a chaiselongue and two armchairs in green plush with a small coffee table in front of the ensemble. Directly adjacent to that stood a chest of drawers with an old TV on it next to a large and massive bookshelf containing many books but also big books, almost worthy of the term tome and small thinner books. On the walls a lot of photographs (mostly groups of people in uniform, some old and in black and white, others in colour) hung side by side with framed documents, a large and heavy copper cross and pictures of the Queen and a number of popes from Pius XII. to Francis. On the table were four Cups, four plates, a pot of tea, writing material and a tray with scones. Just then the door to the right opened and George appeared carrying a basket with a bowl of butter, a small pot with cream and a bowl of sugar together with cutlery. He put all of it on the table before noticing his guests had arrived. "Welcome, have a seat." |

Looks of astonishment appeared on Astrid and her mates. This was not at all what they had expected... least of all Astrid. A tea setting? Yeah, she gets it, this is England and Brits did the tea thing like Vikings did the whole raping and pillaging thing... but still, this was off and just plain weird. She expected a warehouse, dimly lit, smoke-filled... full of lackeys and toughs hovering over a table loaded with blocks of heroin or cash or something... like something out of "Scarface" or "The Untouchables" or something. Or the "Godfather". This? This was just... odd. Astrid's eyes swept over the room, trying to make heads or tails of things and coming up a few kroner short. "I guess looks are deceiving after all," Astrid remarked, partly to herself. "But really, why should I be surprised? Got to keep the blunt heads on their toes. Got to keep the sharper ones guessing." Perhaps the man shared a parallel course with hers in terms of personal philosophy? Astrid invited her mates to sit beside her and they made themselves quite comfy on the couch... fighting the urges to get "too comfy" and plant their feet up on an arm rest or table. "This is a nice place you got here Mr. Harris. Very different than what I expected," Astrid continued gazing and appraising. "So... we came as soon as we could. We're here to help the cause and get the Brujah back on the map in this city. One look at all the squares and stiffs and suits and ties at that Concord House, I had a feeling you were going to need all the help you could get." Edited by Astrid, Sunday, 9. October 2016, 19:58.

George raised an eyebrow at Astrids words about 'looks being deceiving'. He wondered why she came to that estimation and followed her gaze through his living room. "And what did you expect ? A warehouse full of Gangsters and illegal goods ? An office somewhere in the City ? Something totally different from that ?" He had seen the movies and knew the usual cliches, trying to avoid them was important for him,as he was neither some sort of Kray copycat not a dimwit streetmuscle normally associted with the clan name. As Astrid mentioned they were here to 'help the cause' he looked at her sort of amused. "So you want to help 'the cause', eh ? Then you might be able to tell me what 'the cause' actually is, right ? Oh, not to forget what abilities you have to support this cause..." He leaned back, watched her and listened. Now it was going to become interesting... |

"We're here to help the Brujah stay on course... stay on the map. I saw the suits and ties in Concord. I may have just arrived in the nick of time. I got the sense that the Brujah weren't much of a presence here in London. I got the sense the Brujah in London were being pushed around and shoved in a corner. That needs to change." Astrid leveled her eyes upon her Primogen. "It's the same story really in Oslo and other cities... the Brujah getting pushed around and treated like the red-headed step-child no one wants in the family. I don't pretend to know what's going on altogether, but I am aware that there has been some recent changes at the top as to who is running this city and whose calling the shots and pulling the strings. I'm here to help ensure our strings are our own... and make sure our scissors are nice and sharp." Astrid looked to her companions who had no idea what she was going on about, exactly. "When all the clans dig into the pie to get their slice, I want to make sure we get our fair share as well. I am here to help make sure we don't get muscled out of what should rightfully be ours. The new Nosferatu Prince is a good thing. If the Prince were Ventrue, we'd never get anywhere. We need to exploit this as much as possible and for a change, bring the Ventrue down to heel... keep them honest. Brujah have suffered enough with them. It's time we kick them down a few pegs and remind them we have a place in the Camarilla too-- and it ain't where they want us. It's where we decide." "So how do I propose we achieve our ascension? We start by getting more chummy and more connected to our peers. We need to get out more and be seen and heard. We need our peers to start taking notice of us. Wake them up and let them know we aren't sleeping or dead. And we are not going to take shit lying down. Subtle things may work for other clans-- and it may have worked for us in the past... but this is the 21st century. Sometimes you have to crack a few skulls and rattle the bushes to get noticed and to get some respect." Was she advocating violence? Maybe.... Was she trying to stir up trouble? Probably. Hiding in the shadows and plotting in closets and corners served some clans well... but if you wanted to make an impact and remind the other clans of Brujah power-- you have to get out there and effectively raise some hell. Best way to raise some hell? Start stealing the power from underneath the Ventrue-- for starters. "I don't know about you, but I am sick and tired of the high class bullshit artists out there dictating our terms for us. That has to stop. We're not dogs looking for scraps. We should be feared-- period. We need to pull the pedestal under the Ventrue, maybe even the Toreador too... and remind them that if not for us, the city would not be nearly as safe and secure." |

"We aren't much of a presence here, though that may be as some leave after a short while and there have never been much of us in the last years to begin with. The situation is complicated as many things are here..." He listened to her words and watched her before answering with a raised eyebrow. "So how exactly do you imagine getting the Snobs 'to heel' ? You know that too much open violence can result in a blood hunt ? Perhaps we should work out our niche in order to get closer to the others and see what we could do then..." He paused and looked at ther and her companions before continuing. "I doubt fear is the answer. Too much want to be feared will work against us." |

"Nah. Violence is not my style. At least not usually," Astrid replied. "If you really want to catch the Ventrue and all the other suit and tie shitheads off-guard, we need to shake them up politically. We need to shuffle the deck they've been used to playing with. Stack the deck in our favor for once." Astrid was rubbing her chin thoughtfully. Trying to put her thoughts into a solid order. She had a rough idea of something. Very rough. And she was really going on a hunch if anything. Sort of like a gut feeling. Her gut was telling her things have been this dull and dismal for some time. Her gut was telling her things have been a bit too complacent from the top down and all around. She had no real proof, obviously, but she had a strong gut feeling that things have been ho-hum because the Primogen has been kind of ho-hum. Or perhaps he was simply treated as ho-hum because he was resigned to playing a ho-hum game with his fellow Primogen peers. "We need to change the rules. The Brujah here need a new look, a new face, and new image-- someone to throw them off the scent of what we are really up to. We need someone to keep the people at the top busy... keep them guessing, while the rest of us organize and recruit and put things in proper order." They needed a face man. They needed a figurehead to put up and play distraction. They needed a wild card element. She might be the one... but she would prefer not to be. She would much rather be the organizer, the schemer, the plot maker. "I think you need to trade places with another Brujah. Step aside maybe and give someone else your seat at Primo. That way, you'll be free to stretch your wings without the other Primogen getting in your face and on your back. You need a chance to reorganize without having the Primogen watching your every move. Get someone to take your place-- dictate terms from behind the scenes. We need a decoy Primogen." Thinking on it, it made for a really sinister plan. Everyone will be trying to figure out why the changing of the guard-- but nothing will actually change, exactly. It will appear more of the same. Behind the scenes though Harris will call the shots but at least this time, all their shots will be sniper shots in secret. The decoy will be the distraction. No one will know how weak and vulnerable they are, they will be too busy playing politics with the young, new, ambitious Brujah upstart. And by the time they figure out the ploy? The real strength of the clan will hopefully be ready to emerge. "A decoy will hide our efforts in strengthening our territories and interests. The decoy will keep everyone busy while the rest of build up our resources. They will be too busy trying to figure out why we change the deck chairs on the Titanic that they won't see the nuclear submarine readying to launch its missiles below. We need to establish a political smoke screen while we build our strengths. If we just keep going as it appears to be now... you may as well advertise how weak we are and how weak we've been and always will be. Surprise them, distract them... and then... surprise them once more when we are truly ready to reveal ourselves." "A double-sneak," Astrid concluded. "What do you think? You think the other Brujah would be up for that?" |
