Player Handle: Renard Name: Dr. Katharina Bettina Wilke Age: 80 Place of birth: Flensburg Age of embrace: 40 Clan: House and Clan Tremere Sect: Camarilla Species: Vampire Disciplines: Auspex, Dominate, Thaumaturgy Derangement: None Appearance: Katharina measures about 5 foot 8 inches, her physique can be described as normal. She has blue eyes and brown hair at about shoulder length, the exact shade of dark changing from time to time. Her appearance hints at her age, as she does not do much to conceal it. Her normal dress code includes turtlenecks and long skirts. She doesn't like dresses very much and wears them only on foral occasions. Another Assessiore appearing in almost all of her clothing sets are her leather gloves, which she almost wears constantly. Although she wouldn't stand out in a crowd, Katharina is surrounded by the air of a elderly headteacher, and doesn't fail this impression most of the time. Haven: Most of the time, Katharina resides in the chantry, although she has some sort of haven outside. This small flat, however, mostly consists of a small library and a not that small laboratory cramped into the space available with a small niche for the box she uses when staying there. History: Katharina was born in Flensburg on May 12th 1931. Her father Heinrich Wilke was a doctor in the army, and although it had been deemed somewhat acceptable for woman to study at university only a short time ago, he had great aspirations for his daughter, as she showed considerable interest and aptitude for the sciences. However, the outbreak of the war intervened into the chain of events. Heinrich Wilke was mobilized in 1939 and was killed in action during the campaign in the Netherlands in 1940. Katharina was attending Elementary school until she was evacuated to Austria due to the impeding danger of aerial assaults in 1941. The attack of a rabid dog later that year led to the infection that hospitalized her for quite some time. Although the doctors were able to save her injured right arm, the hand remained permanently paralyzed. As the reconvalescence took quite some time, Katharina spent the time with reading and other activities that didn't require much physical exercise and was homeschooled (or better hospital-schooled) until attending a public school again in late 1943. Her aspirations to finish school and become a teacher were cut short by the availability of teachers, the students being used for manning AA guns and similar duties and, in the end, the end of the war. Despite these obstacles, Katharina graduated in 1950 and reconsidered her future in the wake of the changes to society as well as changes in women's chances and possibilities. So she chose university over teacher training and pursue a career in science. Katharina enrolled at the University of Kiel to study maths. One of her flatmates got her involved with chemistry which she ultimately liked better and so she left maths for chemistry a year later. Katharina received her diploma in 1961 and received an offer to gain experience in the British chemical industry. She accepted and worked at Unilever for four years before returning to Western Germany. Here she was made aware of a foundation that sponsored the advancement of promising scientists. It was the front for a vampiric organisation looking for possible recruits, but of course she didn't know it back then. So she applied and, despite her age, was accepted into the fold and therefore included in future screenings. Shortly afterwards, she accepted a post as a scientific assistant and spent the next four years teaching as well as writing her doctoral thesis, as a doctorate was pretty much a must in her line of work. After receiving the doctorate and teaching an additional two years, the masses of observations, statistics and screenings finally came to an end and the mass of candidates was either deemed 'not suitable' or 'not ready yet'. Katharina was among those deemed suitable enough to be brought into the fold and after some preparations had been made so that her disappearance wouldn't raise too much suspicions, the chosen individuals were brought into the fold in 1971. In her particular case this was due to a theory concerning the age factor in the embracees conduct. Would the ability to adapt quickly to new surrounding be very much hampered by age or not ? In fact, all specimens served as a sort of control group and therefore, their development was screened and evaluated as their education progressed. The neonates didn't know that, of course. The way from highly specialised capacity back to someone knowing nothing and being at the bottom of the food chain was indeed a rather harsh situation to adapt to, but in the end, she succeeded in this and managed to slowly crawl up the ladder. An important step in this was looking for a small niche for herself and becoming a sought-after specialist in this field of work. Due to her background she specialized in metallurgy and alchemy, useful and venerable fields of work that were not as common as they deserved to be in the modern nights. She had to limit this to the knowlegde and more technical aspects however, as the according path of thaumaturgy was hard to come by and it would require outstanding conduct to be seen as promising enough to be worthy of one of the old masters' attention. In the following decades, this made up or at least influenced most of her long-time goals, so when the latest developments in London led to the need for volunteers, she basically jumped at the call. it took some time to process the request, but after it had finally been granted, she moved on immediately. Notes: (Anything you want to add about your character. Personality, notable weaponry, feeding preferences, linguistic skills etc.) Linguistic skills: Katharina is fluent in English, French and Latin as well as eloquent in ancient Greek and Arabic. Notable Weponry: None, weapons are for dimwits, after all. Personnel: Katharina brings along Calvin Teichert, a young man with an aborted chemistry degree, who is also her ghoul. Although she recruited him as some sort of scientific assistant, he is basically her butler, personal assisitant, secretary and general dogsbody, depending on what the situation demands. Whether he will rise up to the position of even being considered for the embrace or not will be subject of consideration. Although he has not too much knowledge about vampiric society and disliked the idea of moving over to the UK, he nonetheless followed his boss' orders, as always. |
