The night was quickly drawing to a close and daylight was fast approaching. On his trip into town, Rob had noticed the old railway station. By all accounts it looked abandoned and a good place to rest in case he had not found a haven that night. He didn't like the idea of sleeping in subway systems, abandoned buildings, and sewers but had grown used to it in his seven years on the run. With the exception of the occasional Nosferatu or fellow homeless drifter they were typically empty and relatively peaceful. Rob stepped into the tattered ruins of the old railway station, his bag slung over his left shoulder and the newly acquired briefcase clinched in his right hand. "Hello?" Rob called into the vast emptiness. Nobody seemed to be home... All the better, the last thing he wanted to do was contest the place with some homeless guy or at worst another kindred. He was alone... Once again. As he searched the old building it was easy to notice that there was still plenty of windows and openings for sunlight to get through. The railway station would not be enough. He would need to find a windowless restroom to ensure his safety for the day. It only took a few minutes for him to find a private restroom in one of the offices that looked as if its original purpose was a travel agency or something to that effect. The restroom reeked of urine and mold, obviously it being the former home to a local drifter. The once white tiles were now caked with dirt and debris was scattered around the room. "Home sweet home." Rob said, his voice melancholy and his demeanor defeated. After doing a quick walk through, meticulously checking each stall, nook, and cranny to make sure he was totally alone, Rob shut the door behind him. Luckily for him the door had not been forced in the past and the manual deadbolt and lock still worked. Rob was now all alone, once more, in the dark, and by himself. Reaching into his backpack, the young vampire acquired a small novelty flashlight in the shape of a lantern and a raggedy old blanket. Rob sat the flashlight on the ground and turned it on, the bulb was an LED bulb which cast a blue hue across the old bathroom. Rob slowly let himself slide to the dirty bathroom floor. Rob could truly be with his own thoughts, none of which were pleasant ones. Is this really what my life has been reduced to? Sleeping on a dirty bathroom floor? Looking back at himself seven years ago, Rob would laugh at the person he had became. Back then he might not have had the greatest of life, but at least it was a decent life, with a decent home, and a decent job. It was a simple life, a life destined for mediocrity. A paper pushing bureaucratic his entire life, working desk job to desk job. He would eventually find a suitable wife, nowhere near the kind of woman he would ever hope for but at least she wouldn't cheat on him and would take care of his kids. Isn't that what love was after all? Rob often thought to himself. Hell if he ever knew, his longest relationship was six months. He would eventually grow old, his children would grow up, he would retire, and then slowly wait for death to come knocking... But now, here he was a fugitive for lack of a better term, living out his existence moving from town to town, fighting and scratching every step of the way for survival, meeting new people and just as quickly discarding them to keep himself on the move. Now he found himself on a different continent with the same damn problems that he had in the United States... Rob Aiken was alone and probably was always going to be. He met Nora and Marceline tonight but did they have his back? If he was about to be staked and killed by the Camarilla and Sabbat would they really come running to his side? Probably not, why would they? Why would anyone come to his side? Rob always had to carry his burdens alone... And that is how it would stay? Rob didn't know where to go from here. Maybe Nora would come to the train station and give him a job to do or some inane errand to run. Maybe Marceline would call him. He didn't know and at the moment, he didn't even give a damn. Rob was tired, very tired and as the sun began to rise and the birds began to chirp. Right now it was time for sleep. He would figure shit out tomorrow. |

The abandoned station in Enfield Town looked so eerie at night. Louis had not been here much but, tonight, it seemed perfect. Silent and not a soul in sight. As the young Samedi was sitting in his thoughts, he heard a voice. The voice shouted 'Hello', followed shortly by something else Louis could not quite make out. Almost on instinct he obfuscated, his form seemingly becoming one with the darkness. He couldn't quite hide his smell but he hoped it would blend in with the scent of rotting and debris the place already gave. He quietly observed a man, possibly Kindred though Louis wasn't sure, searching the area and then entering into the offices. Louis' curiosity got the better of him and, hoping that his smell would not give him away now that he was moving away from the mess of the station itself, decided to follow...
