Irish indulgence
|
Roisin woke up early. She had been sleeping since noon already after she had been out for some nights in a row. And not to party but to borrow. Her favourite word to describe her profession. Thief was such an ordinary word but borrower was much softer. She woke up in the kingsize bed where Sean and her always slept. It was resided in the underground department beneath the mansion. It was a section Sean had created since his vampiric life. Even though he was gone now she still slept there. She knew it was safe and that she could lock it down so no one could get in or out. It was probably her imagination but she thought she could still smell his scent. That sweet odor of his cologne. Barely dressed she walked towards the bathroom. The entire section had its own bathroom, bedroom, studyroom and library. It was not as big as upstairs but it was more than enough. It was actually weird that she lived more here than in the mansion but this was where she could still feel Sean. Vampire or not... He had been the first person who genuinely cared for her and had loved her so he would always have a special place in her heart. After the shower she dried her hair and made a tight knot or at least she tried to because her curly locks had a will of their own and so there were a few wild strings of hair loose. She put on a pair of black sneakers, an old pair of ripped jeans, a black blouse, a black hoodie and her usual leather vest. It was short, only reached her hips, dark brown and handy with pockets on the inside where she had her pack of cigarettes, switchblade and her tools to pick locks. The darker the better for this night. Her mood however was not to go borrowing but to seek memories. The girl walked to the door which hid the stairs to go to the mansion. She entered the code and with a click it swung open. Once upstairs she went to the kitchen. Obviously Sean never needed one so there was no kitchen in the basement. The fridge was full but Roisin wasn't very hungry so a glass of milk and some Oreos was all she needed before she went outside. It was probably already an hour later when she reached the house that felt right to enter. Somehow it seemed that here she would find nice memories. She looked around and there were hardly any people around. She jumped over the fence into the backgarden. Roisin might be small but luckily she had some free running skills which she had developed for quick escapes. The backdoor was unlocked and so she didn't even need to use her magic to get in. The interior was like something you could see in those fancy magazines about designer shit. It smelled like lavender inside. A sudden noise startled her and she quickly drew her knife but then she noticed the cat that had jumped upon the table. "Hello there kitty. You scared me silly you." she tipped the nose of the cat. It purred, she picked it up and absently patted its head while walking around. She stared at the family pictures. Mother, father, twin sons and a daughter. How adorable. The Irish girl probably had been inside for over an hour before she went back to the garden. The cat was watching her from behind the kitchen window while she sat on the swing. It was fun to swing back and forth while her mind traveled to the memories from this family. The pictures she had seen, the neatly kept rooms, stuffed animals... So much they were lucky to have but what she had to give up from when she was still so little. She never really had the time to be a child. She envied them, yes but she wouldn't do anything to disturb it. Behind the row of houses in this street there was a little public park with a playground and when she heard a car stop before the house she jumped over the fence towards the park. From a bench she could see the distant light flicker on in the house. They would never know she had been there. She placed a cigarette between her lips and lit it. While smoking she saw other rooms light up and shadows danced around. The smoke twirled around her head and she got lost in thoughts. Edited by Roisin Macnamara, Saturday, 9. November 2013, 23:33.
