The Kindred Chronicle
Key Figures
THE MONSTER OF EALING
Last night, several people reported the sighting of a "screaming red monster" in a quiet neighbourhood of Ealing. After a power shortage in the area, a building caught fire. It was then when, what was described as a "man shaped, footless creature" emerged from the flames, leaping, running, and screaming. One woman has told our reporters that the man had "teeth like a wolf, and the face of the devil". Police officers are still trying to get to the bottom of this; neither the power shortage nor the fire have still been explained. A spokesperson from Scotland Yard has stated that the "so called monster" might be a wounded person, escaping the fire.

TRAGEDY IN TOOLEY STREET
The police has found the bodies of three TFL workers in the construction site at Tooley Street. One of their colleagues raised the alarms last week, when the three workers didn't attend their shifts. The bodies of the men have been found in a deep hole, uncovered by the refurbishment works that are taking place in the area. According to the Police, the bodies were horribly mutilated, which has led to the wildest speculations. The names of the three workers are being kept anonymous, following the wishes of their families.

HOROSCOPE
MARCH 8 - PISCES
You are used to making sacrifices, to prioritising the happiness of others before yours. Even though that is a noble attitude, there are times in life where the only healthy alternative is to embrace your own selfishness and allow yourself some enjoyment. Reserve one hour per day to do something you really like. Treat yourself! Your colour for this month is blue.
Echoes from the past ring back into London. Their intensity increases until they are deafening. What once was a faded memory of a glorious time, now becomes a shocking reality. The consequences of actions taken decades ago ripple into the present, altering the lives of everybody in the City. Unguided and blind, Kindred wander around, trying to make profit out of the reigning chaos.

The appearance of four mysterious figures turned the city upside down. Mistrust and jealousy became the official currency of London. Serpents and fiends rise to power, misdirecting the blaming eyes of the Camarilla towards imaginary enemies. Only those with clear vision and the ability to trust each other strive, while the rest run towards a shallow grave.

The best way to get to know a new place? Well, it was to simply have a look around, now wasn't it? Besides, she could do with a nice pub, some decent entertainment and maybe some company.
The Brujah could definitively do with a bite, because she hadn't had anything to eat so far that evening and was feeling a little peckish. It wasn't a gnawing hunger mind you. Only the kind that you got when your body thought it appropriate to remind you, that yes, you still needed to eat even while technically dead.

So, hands tucked in her pockets, dressed for a night out, Lucy had gone for a walk around the neighbourhood. She'd even picked out something that looked a tad bit better than her usual casual comfortable style of clothing. Of course, she felt her usual style was just fine, but she recognized the fact that feeding got easier if you put a little effort into it.
And as such, baggy jeans had been replaced by stone washed jeans which fabric had earned a few tears but which clung to her hips and thighs just right for the black leather chaps to do their part, a punk styled bustier which, while she didn't sport the kind of bosom some women did, still managed to accent what she had, had replaced the usual tank tops.
She'd pulled on the same worn leather jacket though because comfort was still a thing and she loved it too much not to wear it when she had the chance.

All in all, she definitively looked more Brujah than she usually did. She'd even exchanged flat skate sneakers for something that looked like slightly heeled combat boots.

So, tonight Lucy was out on town! Heh, not that big a deal really, but it was fun to see new places and new people. And who knew? Maybe she would get lucky enough to run into someone interesting? It might just happen.

The big man shrugged his bag up onto his shoulder. Getting the parts he needed for his latest project had been a bit of a pain in the ass, but he'd done it. At 6'4 and nearly 280 lbs the backpack wasn't particularly heavy, despite having nearly 60 lbs of electronics in it. Amazing how many odds and ends you went through when you built random stuff.

He wore a simple black button down shirt tucked into a pair of old gray cargo pants. The pants tucked into a pair of steel toed combat boots. A heavy belt kept his pants tucked around a waist that looked slightly small for the torso and heavy arms above it. His jaw had an inch of dark black beard gracing it and his hair was nearly jaw length. A pair of sunglasses covered his eyes, odd because of the dark, but the tint wasn't that heavy, so it was probably just an aesthetic thing. A mere hint of light green glass between himself in the world. The eyes that looked out from behind them shined like emeralds.

He noticed the girl in the punk rock corset walking down the street and he couldn't help letting out a slight hum of appreciation with his deep voice. Slim and athletic was a good look, and lately he'd been feeling... a bit more appreciative of the female form of late.

There was nothing for it.

Moshe Klein was completely lost.

Cursing himself for forgetting to charge his phone before taking off for the evening's errands, the little man huddled up in a light brown leather coat thrown over a white button up and striped tie, red hood shadowing his face, lips twisted into a scowl as he considered his options, leaning against a battered bus shelter to stay out of the wind. Casting his dead smartphone one last look of betrayal, he stowed it away again, looking around forlornly for any hope of familiar landmarks.

It was really the perfect storm of ill luck. South London was an area Moshe had rarely visited, most of his work, schooling and day to day life previously confined to Fitzrovia in the northeast. His relatively new work at Blythe House was nowhere near enough to familiarize himself, his recent move to a flat in Hammersmith only completed a few days before. And then exhaustion and stress had contributed to missing his bus stop, riding all the way to the end of the line before jolting out of his impromptu nap. Both of these factors, combining with a dead phone, were leading to compulsive chain smoking, a cigarette clenched between teeth while he nervously considered what to do.

The neighborhood, at least, didn't bother him too much. He'd spent much of his earlier life in a slum in south Tel Aviv, the son of a single mother struggling through her schooling and providing for them both. If anything, he felt a bit more comfortable here than he did among the suits and confusing politics of his "associates". He snorted briefly as he imagined the look on Jhael's face if he could see the neighborhood around him.

Let those with power stop caring (if they ever did care in the first place) though and he'd love to see how fast the fancier neighborhoods fell apart.

Movement from the corner of his eye caused him to glance up. A lone woman at night in an outfit that seemed fitting for clubbing. Moshe had to credit her bravery, at least. If not exactly her survival instincts. The sight of a person at least allowed a thought to occur. Why not ask to borrow someone's phone to get directions? He studied the woman with consideration before dismissing her.

Strange man approaching a pretty white girl. Probably best to just avoid any potential awkwardness.

Another look around focused his attention on a man approaching from the opposite direction... Damn, big guy too. He had to have a foot on Moshe at least, radiating a sort of "One Not To Be Fucked With" aura even the Israeli could pick up on. The fact said man only had to lift his foot and squish him probably had something to do with that impression.

Well, one or the other...

Moshe glanced between them indecisively as they came closer, biting his lip.

The first guy was sort of difficult to miss. Someone with that build and height made for a rather eye catching specimen indeed and it might just be she'd picked up on the slight hum, because she made sure to flash him a grin in return.
Why not, right? She wasn't dressed to go unnoticed, that would be rather counter productive. And besides, Lucy was the type of person who smiled most of the time, tonight being no exception.

The Swede couldn't help but notice the other guy too, the one who had pretty much the same look she'd had the first time she'd stepped off the train in London. The "God, I'm so lost" look. It was universally recognizable and capable of translating wordlessly between any language on Earth. Not even the Babel fish would've been able to do it better.

An encouraging smile was offered in his direction with a touch of it'll be okay" to I before the girl paused to fish a cigarette pack from her pocket.

Now, she didn't often smoke, really, but it was a good way of getting people to talk to you when you up and realized you'd forgotten your lighter in your other jacket. Something which appeared to be the case as a low muttering in Swedish followed the patting of empty pockets.

How her head stayed on her shoulders was a mystery to her sometimes. Because she was pretty sure that if it hadn't been as firmly attached as it was she would've up and lost it a long time ago.
Organized while working, disorganized when it came to everything else.

Toran dug into a cargo pocket and flipped out a black zippo and held it out for her. She was cute and his blood was up from... well, other blood. He figured there was no harm in flirting with a hot woman on the streets. Sawyer said he wanted him to have a life. Didn't want a pet. Well, if he was supposed to be his own man (and damned if he wasn't going to act like it until he had no choice!) then he had the right to try and get laid if he wanted.

He nodded politely to the smaller man, a bit disappointed. Looks like the girl might be more into him. Ah well. Toran was a nice enough guy, he wasn't going to push in where he wasn't welcome.

"Here you go Miss, if you need a light."

His voice was a deep, smoking throb in the night. Smooth as silk, dark as sin and a soft purring echo that seemed to roll from deep dark places. He never thought much of it, hadn't bothered to learn how to use it for anything. He'd just taken it for granted, despite being told on several occasions how enchanting it was. To him, it was just a part of him. Nothing special to notice.

He shrugged his big shoulder to hook the bag higher up onto his collarbone and didn't appear to notice the heavy weight despite the clanks and clatters of the electronics inside.

He glanced up in bemusement at the smile, eyes drifting away to settle on the pretty woman's shoes. Very nice boots. Reminded him of something his boyfriend would wear, right after Ryan was done laughing himself sick once he heard of this little misadventure. That thought, combined with natural awkwardness, made a face already flushed from the cold darken even more, his ears going red. Scratching his scruffy beard as the woman approached, he spoke slowly in a raspy voice, accent probably explaining his methodical speech patterns.

"Em... Hullo? Yes, I was wondering- Oh, wait. I did not think this through... I was wondering if perhaps you knew the area better than I did? Which is not at all?.... Either of you?"

Now that he thought about it, someone probably wasn't going to let a random stranger consult their phone real quick to look for directions. Which is why he was usually so careful with keeping his phone charged. So he didn't have to actually interact with strangers in a situation. So, he'd quickly changed tactics to actually asking the people, thinking on foot not his strongest suit.

Wait. Smile. People like that, right? He glanced up at the slightly taller woman with a hesitant, crooked grin before eyes flicked quickly to the much taller man. An eyebrow arched at the sound of that voice, offering a light. Combining with that face and that body, black shirt doing nothing to hide that the guy obviously didn't neglect his exercise. He looked away from the other man quickly, blush now so dark it obscured the freckles on his face. Mouthing one word to himself with emphasis.

"Damn."

You know sometimes in cartoons, or anime, you'll have that moment where someone will stop and blink, and you get that little weird sound with each blink? Yeah, if Lucy had a sound track and matching sound effects to go with her life, that's what would've happened as the man offering her a light started to speak and got in return a few moments of wide eyed staring.

God.. that voice...

Oh please don't stop talking. Please don't. Recite the bus schedule. I don't fucking care!

At least she realized that she was staring. Though by the time realization had the decency to kick in her mouth was half open, not really helping her case much even if she quickly covered it over with another one of those bright grins.
"Thanks" the purple eyed girl answered, seemingly having managed to gather her wits as she reached out to pluck the lighter from his hand with two fingers.

To be honest? That the other man approached was probably a good thing as she honestly had no clue where to go after the thank you.
Unfortunately?

"Ah, you know, I'd love to be able to say I'd help you with that? But I just recently moved here myself" and the accent, while having a British touch, did perhaps betray her as not being a native speaker if you listened carefully enough. "So I'm probably just gonna make it worse. Not that I can't try to help though! Whatcha looking for?"

Lucy lit the lighter and in turn quickly lit her cigarette, not really wanting to keep the flame alive longer than necessary. A deep breath ensured that the cigarette caught a light on the first try though before she exhaled with a smile and offered the lighter back with a smile at Toran.

The big manned grinned warmly at the girl. She was probably wearing contacts, far as he knew purple eyes weren't real... then again he'd looked in the mirror lately and had a few confusing moments himself lately.

Taking back the lighter he dug into another large pocket and took out a black object, about the size of a smart phone and encased in the hardened rubber normal to construction models. Turning it on he flipped it over and offered it to Moshe.

"Just type in the address and it'll tell you how to get there. GPS is a wonderful thing... and you're welcome."

He nods his head politely to Lucy and grins through his black beard. The sunglasses made his eyes look like emeralds sparkling. He probably looked like jersey shore douche bag wearing them at night, but it caused less fuss than seeing how silver his iris had gotten in the last week. He was pretty sure it had something to do with becoming a ghoul, but he wasn't sure what and he had nothing to go on.

He felt a little bad that he'd broken his determination to leave his injuries after Aguirre's beat down and let them heal naturally. But he figured Sawyer wouldn't want to know his girl had forced a bond on his ghoul behind his back. He didn't want to start anymore shit storms. So for now he was just going to grin and take it. Still, he had a few hours before he had to get to the meeting with Sawyer and the bosses.

"Oh, no. I immigrated and settled in London years ago. Unfortunately, I've only recently moved to this specific area and... yes. I never had reason to be in this part of London until the new job. Things are not familiar anymore. It throws me off."

Probably over explaining but hey, win some, lose some. At least he didn't look to be the only one who seemed to be enjoying the audio erotica that was the American's voice. Her accent though, he didn't recognize. Moshe furrowed his brow as he considered what it might be.

He startled at the GPS, glancing down at it before directing pale eyes up to Toran. Red as a beet, the smaller man took the device shakily, starting to follow the instructions as he tapped in the address. Blythe House had an easy enough address and he didn't want to leave his home address with someone he didn't know.

Paranoia wasn't exactly paranoia when there really were people out to get you, after all.

"T-thank you," he murmured, teeth chattering a little in the chill.

No, the girl's accent was difficult to place since she had actually worked on getting rid of it. Still, some things persisted and if he listened carefully enough and had some knowledge of Scandinavia, it might just be possible to place her in that region somewhere. Although narrowing it more than that might be tricky.

"GPS and google maps" Lucy smiled, taking another drag of her cigarette. "I would've been lost ten times over by now if I didn't have those readily available" had her wondering how the heck she would do if dropped in a forest without a network connection. The answer to that was probably a rather depressing one, so her mind quickly enough discarded that line of thought in favour of the present. Which was a lot more interesting.

She shifted her weight from one foot to the other, hooking one thumb into her belt while the other lowered to let her arm rest comfortably down the side of her body while holding the cigarette between two fingers.

Really, she was looking at Mosh while she spoke, though couldn't help that her eyes strayed towards Toran again, half in anticipation of hearing more of that voice.

"Ah you're welcome man. I know how it goes. You get to someplace new and your phone dies or your car brakes down or you got drunk and can't find your room, it's all the same. Just pay it forward sometime, you know?"

His voice rolled out like smoke and darkness into the air and he grinned in a friendly sort of way. He caught Lucy staring and he smiled back, not at all opposed to a cute young woman checking him out. Kind of flattering really. It had been a long time. He was usually the "slow going" sort in any kind of romantic endeavor, but then, he wasn't usually stuck with vampire blood running through his veins and the normal drives were still a bit heightened. Besides... he was hoping a romp with a random girl might get Sawyer and his girlfriend out of his mind for at least a while. That would be a nice change.

"Yes... One dead phone and dozing off on a bus later... A mix of unfortunate circumstances, yes?"

The smaller man furrowed his brow in thought as he studied the map and instructions for finding his way back to Hammersmith, juggling the GPS as he reached into the backpack slung over a shoulder to retrieve a notebook. Awkwardly jolting down the names of streets and which turn was which, he glanced between the two in bemusement before looking back down to the map.

"You are northeastern? You sound almost like you could be from New York," Moshe prompted idly of the man, trying to keep the conversation casual as he wrote. Something simple he could focus on and not awkward, "Although your accent, miss, I do not know."

The girl's laughter came easily to her apparently, the smile on her lips as the cigarette was carefully slipped back between them so to free her hands to be tucked into her back pockets, a genuine one.
"Ah, no wonder there actually. It's what happens when you're originally from Sweden, live five years in Germany before spending most of your time around Ireland. You get seriously language confused. Sorry 'bout that" well, no, not really sorry-sorry, but she still apologized in a light hearted kind of way as she gave a shrug of her shoulders.

The desire to purr at the sound of Toran's melodic voice was strangled, kicked and showed back down so not to make a bigger fool of herself than she already had. But the smile sure as Hell wasn't going anywhere any time soon.

She stretched her neck a little while tilting her head to the side, a subconscious thing actually, though one which nature was perhaps on the flirting side of things.

Bad Lucy. Bad.

Toran smiled slightly and looked down at Moshe, not out of superiority, merely a foot difference in height.

"Born in Jersey, actually. Though I spent a lot of time in Chicago. Nice ear though. I'm just glad I don't sound like one of those retarded beach people on TV."

He twitched. It had almost given him a complex having to see that show in prison during the rec hours. It actually made him glad for the time he spent in solitary confinement. Just knowing what a "snooki" was caused him near emotional pain.

A pain that lifted as he watched Lucy arch and preen slightly. When a girl in a corset stretches her neck, lovely things happen.

"I guess they do grow them pretty in Sweden"

The big man murmured, the flushed when he realized he'd spoken out loud. He REALLY had to get this libido thing in check if he was going to make it. He was not going to turn into one of those screwy psychotic ghouls at the whim of any halfway attractive blood bank if he could avoid it. Self-Control was key. He was not just going to wander off without a vampire because of sex and blood. Nope.

"Ah. Close enough. I studied languages though, so it is something I listen for even to this day. Polyglot for the win. But Scandinavian? Closest I came to them was studying German."

With a tight smile, Moshe finished writing down the map's instructions, triple checking them. Finally, with a nod, he handed the GPS back to Toran with exaggerated care, studying the man when he was sure the other was looking to the pretty woman.

Hey, just because there was no chance in Hell didn't mean he couldn't at least look.

The absent minded comment made him double take though, the Israeli biting his lip and twitching, shoulders shaking with suppressed snickers.

Aw, but laughing wasn't very nice. Specially not when it was in fact a compliment. And the Swede obviously saw it as such as she brightened a little and replied happily.
"Man tackar" which, even if you didn't speak Swedish, was still spoken with a tone of voice that made it clear that it was an appreciative thank you from someone who was not the least bit embarrassed by it.

Why should she be? Wasn't every night she got a compliment like that. Off handed or not. The look in her eyes as she smiled said she was happy for it, regardless of what Toran might think of it.

In response to Mosh' comment, the girl nodded.
"German has some similarities. Great language for cursing and shouting at someone. You can sound proper fucking angry with so little effort" she chuckled, doing a small bounce without really moving more than that.
Of course, the bounce would've had more effect if the girls were bigger and weren't currently tucked into a corset, but, whatever.

The big man let out a slightly long hummmm of interest, without really realizing it as she danced. Then he take the GPS from Moshe with surprisingly light fingers. Smiling and nodding his head to the smaller man he slipped it back into his pocket.

"Pretty impressive I got to say. My school system wasn't the best at languages. I couldn't even manage Spanish with any particular skill. You have my admiration. Do you want my number in case you get lost? I can look up the route and pass it along?"

He didn't think the small guy really wanted his number, but he figured he might be able to recite to him and have this bouncy punk beauty catch it. His luck never worked out that way, but why not, right? That is the worst that could happen, besides, as a guy who had only been in the city for about 6 months and was having more than his fair share of bad luck recently and frankly, could use the feel good pick-me-up of helping someone down on their luck.

He slipped his right hand out of his pocket, figuring he could release his death grip on the collapsible baton he'd been holding and exposing his tattoo covered hand for the first time. The skin looked like it was made of iron plating that was torn and rent to expose clockwork gears and tight wires. The tattoo seemed to go up his sleeve and vanish beneath the fabric.

"Yiddish is also fun when you are angry. But yes, Israel is extremely multilingual. So knowing multiple languages is a bit more necessary than it is in America. I turned out to be good at it but it is hardly rare in my country. Or many countries. Cultural differences, yes?"

He snorted softly at the hum and offer, pretty sure the taller man wasn't really listening to him at all and the woman was teasing in turn, "Flattering but I do not even know your name."

The fact that his phone was also very dead and therefore a phone number probably wouldn't be much help occurred to him as well. But it might not occur to tall, dark, and awkward. Which, hey, meant they had something in common at least. What they had less in common was the preoccupation with breasts. Moshe's gaze following Toran's briefly before he spoke very dryly without thinking.

"I sense I am cockblocking."

Oops.

Now, there were many ways to react to a comment like that. In this case, Lucy's reaction was to break down in giggles as one hand lifted to simultaneously take the cigarette from her lips and cover her mouth while the girl had to concentrate on not doubling over.

Really, it was that simple. And it wasn't meant to be mean. Not one bit! But again, she couldn't help it. It was just too funny.

More so because it was probably true.
