The Kindred Chronicle
Key Figures
THE MONSTER OF EALING
Last night, several people reported the sighting of a "screaming red monster" in a quiet neighbourhood of Ealing. After a power shortage in the area, a building caught fire. It was then when, what was described as a "man shaped, footless creature" emerged from the flames, leaping, running, and screaming. One woman has told our reporters that the man had "teeth like a wolf, and the face of the devil". Police officers are still trying to get to the bottom of this; neither the power shortage nor the fire have still been explained. A spokesperson from Scotland Yard has stated that the "so called monster" might be a wounded person, escaping the fire.

TRAGEDY IN TOOLEY STREET
The police has found the bodies of three TFL workers in the construction site at Tooley Street. One of their colleagues raised the alarms last week, when the three workers didn't attend their shifts. The bodies of the men have been found in a deep hole, uncovered by the refurbishment works that are taking place in the area. According to the Police, the bodies were horribly mutilated, which has led to the wildest speculations. The names of the three workers are being kept anonymous, following the wishes of their families.

HOROSCOPE
MARCH 8 - PISCES
You are used to making sacrifices, to prioritising the happiness of others before yours. Even though that is a noble attitude, there are times in life where the only healthy alternative is to embrace your own selfishness and allow yourself some enjoyment. Reserve one hour per day to do something you really like. Treat yourself! Your colour for this month is blue.
Echoes from the past ring back into London. Their intensity increases until they are deafening. What once was a faded memory of a glorious time, now becomes a shocking reality. The consequences of actions taken decades ago ripple into the present, altering the lives of everybody in the City. Unguided and blind, Kindred wander around, trying to make profit out of the reigning chaos.

The appearance of four mysterious figures turned the city upside down. Mistrust and jealousy became the official currency of London. Serpents and fiends rise to power, misdirecting the blaming eyes of the Camarilla towards imaginary enemies. Only those with clear vision and the ability to trust each other strive, while the rest run towards a shallow grave.

Brisk steps on the pavement sounded through the night. Grove Ward was not the safest part of London, but that was of no importance now. Delivering the small missive was. And as she had to go easy on the Tremere Primogen, Catherine had decided to go look out the Brujah Primogen herself. The activity of delivering the missive in person would soothe her annoyance to some degree, or that was what she was speculating at, even if it remained to be seen whether it would be so. Not that she looked forward to meet Harris. Brujah had the annoying tendency to push her buttons until bad things happened. But that was something that she could worry about later.

So she stayed on the lookout. People with the typical behaviour and looks that were so often associated with Brujah, kindred running around. Any link that would provide her with the place where the Primogen lived.

After the Assembly, the woman lighted a cigarette and thought about the mission the Primogen had gave her. Commanding a coterie of Brujah made Tory felt disgustingly simmilar to a Camarilla Scourge again, and she never liked being the nanny of anyone, but keeping in mind she neither liked to be led by someone she couldn't trust it was the least bad option. The decision to divide in two groups and separate the sects couldn't feel more appropriate in retrospective. Like hell was she gonna work with the soldier and his young bestie. She'd rather kill Rambo before letting him go all stupid startling a room full of Sabbats 'cause the asshole doesn't know his limits.

Walking down the streets of a city was something the She Wolf hadn't done in a while. But after leaving her bike at Cricket's repair shop she had plenty of time to do it, more than she liked. It was going to be a long long walk down to the northern anarch areas.

Ares stood with his massive frame rested up against a wall in the shadows of a dark alley, his cold, dark eyes lit up briefly as the cherry on the end of his cigar flaired.

He looked out across the street and saw the Anarch walk past...purely by chance as he was trying to cool down and let his beast go back in his cage. It was just for a brief moment, but something about her...her face...her walk...possibly it was her walk or her attitude. . .something about her reminded him of someone he knew...but who? He contemplated walking up to her but changed his mind...former Scourge or not, Ares figured he'd better let her go for now.

The thought passed by as quickly as she did, and with another large puff of his cigar, Ares exits the darkness of the alley...the thought of heading to that fight club he heard about sounded good. . .a quick bite to eat didn't sound bad either...and he was really enjoying this cigar. Ares eyes roamed about for a pub...to be honest, a couple of sips of a beer never sounded bad, even if he'd have to chuck it up in a few minutes...the cold draft in his hands was relaxing...and his cigar always tasted better with the smell of a beer...a tradition of his that he enjoyed since way before that first jump at Camp Toccoa in Northern Georgia. . .he quickly scanned his mind, having that first beer and cigar with his troops after pinning on our Airborne wings for the first time...nothing felt better...and with that happy memory, Ares centered himself enough to lock the beast in his cage for a while. Tonight was going to be about drinking beer, even if it is vicariously through some poor drunk at the bar, and then going to find a fight...possibly at that fight club, if he could find it.

The masses of people finally released two figures whose auras gave them away as kindred. A man in an alley, watching the scene before stepping out. The other was a woman hurrying off somewhere else. Their auras were...interesting, to say the least and also played a role indeciding which of the two to pick. At least to some degree. Especially the leaving part in opposition to the not leaving part decided it. So she walked over to the man with the cigar.

"Excuse me, Sir. Would you happen to know a Mister George Harris ?"

Careful to not blow the cigar smoke in her face, Ares lookd down over the woman and said with his stone face. Maybe...why?

Ares was new to London, but he knew if someone was asking him for the Primo by name, they had to at least a little bit in the know on who he was...but he couldn't be to careful. He looked at her eyes, do they blink? Her nose, does it flare as she breaths or doesn't breath? Was there a rise and fall in her chest? He notices she ain't bad to look at, but waits on her answer.

It then dawns on him to smile, despite how scary a smile his face often makes...most people think he plans to eat them when he looks down and smiles at them.

"Because I have a few things that need to be talked about. Urgent and official."

No, the woman did not blink. Her nose, her face, remained not moving, breathing only enough to allow for speech. The rise and fallof her chest not definite enough to be noticable. She eyed him with an expression he knew all too well. This look a junior officer fresh out of West point gave to a seasoned Master Sergeant. Her posture underlined the impression. She wasn't asking. She wasn't asking nicely. She expected her request to be fulfilled at once, come hell, high water or whatever.

"Lead the way."

Ares pondered why nobody in jolly old London felt they needed to have manners when talking to a Brujah...was it because he looked like a Brujah? He contemplated this for just a second then let his eyes dart around the streets, his eyes always scanning for troubles. (PTSD)

He was sure she had something urgent, but for all he knew, it may have just been urgent to her. She could have been urgently wanting to kill him for all he knew. He also didn't know if the Primogen was the type to enjoy people just popping up at his front door, so better to be cautious and get her an appointment to see him "urgently"

yea...I'm sure you do Ms ? (Name?)

But...here is the thing

A. I don't know exactly where he is at the moment...I ain't his personal assistant.

B. I don't take orders from strangers...I ain't your personal assistant either.

C. You might want him called ahead of time so he knows your coming, not everyone likes surprise guests dropping in...even if it's urgent and official.

He turns and now continues towards the pub, giving her a nod if she wanted to follow him. I'm headed to the pub for "a drink" you can come and I'll call and if he wants to talk, which I'm sure he will, then I'll be happy to take you to him or pass on your message....k?

"Wilke."

She didn't think he knew her name, not many did, especially with CamNet down, but she already thought about a way to change that. She'd need to talk to some people anyway, so that was just a small addition to the agenda. As he listed off A, B and C, her lips curled into a smile. Just not one of the pleasant sort. Brujah territory after all.

"It doesn't sound too bad. Lead the way, Mr. ... ?"

it's Ares...just Ares...you don't have to call me Mr.

With that, Ares seems to warm up, ever so slightly. If being observed in Auspex, one would see he's not angry, despite how his face is typically cast. He slows his pace to almost a halt to allow Ms Wilke to catch up, remembering his stride is longer then hers as they casually walk and talk on their way to the local pub.

So, Ms Wilke, I can call up the boss for you, but what is it you want me to say? His tone was not disrespectful or harsh, and despite his facial expression and hulking shape, something about him seemed like a great big bear....not a teddy bear, but something that resembled one till you saw its large paws, sharp claws and long fangs.

He was looking around as they walk, scanning for signs of danger, as was his typical m.o. Ares' body language spoke of being a protector, almost as if he was escorting her through this bad part of town...not that she needed it though. His large hands were curled up into loose fists, walking as if marching. His military training made him a dyed in the wool soldier through and through.

The cigar he smoked puffed away from her in a conscious effort as he awaited her response. Ares, noticeably, wanted no headaches or troubles, he was willing to help her if this was "official and urgent."

"I somewhat agree to A, we'll see about B in a minute and C... Whether I announce myself or not and why is my business. Ares would be your first or last name ?"

The witch kept up surprisingly well, but didn't object as he matched his speed to hers. She held herself with a bearing that was one of authority, someone who was used to having their demands met and who expected to command others. But she hadn't been very subtle about that, so that was not a hard observation to make.

She watched the way Ares walked and his general bearing. Former military, that much was clear. That was good, she could handle those. She had a look around. People were few and far between, so if she kept it from too much noise, there would be no danger of talking unciphered.

"Tell him that Mr Blücher is unhappy about the way he has handled his table, and Mr O Dubhuir and that he has sent an Arbiter, that's me, to make sure the mess is cleaned. I expect him to meet me as quickly as he can or I will leave this place with his head on a pike. I want you to tell this to him in those exact words."

Ares smirked. His head on a Pike? You sure you want to use those words? A little tact goes a lot further when talking to others.

Ares had ignored the jab about him possibly being her assistant and it being her business if she announced herself or not. It was a mute point and easily ignored since she did announce herself.

The problem was still this attitude. He has seen it alot amongst the core of Cammies, ie, the Toreador, the Tremere, and the Ventrue...very little amongst the Brujah, Gangrel and hardly ever with the Nosferatu. Most thought they were better or more important than you right from the start. This one seemed much the same, using little tact in her mannerisms. She seemed like she thought she could command him like she probably did with the minnion under her, but Ares was no newbie, wasn't the type to fall for puffed out chests and commanding tones.

Yea...it's my first name...the one I go by. Now, if you are the Prince's messanger, bully for you, but I can tell you, NO Brujah worth his salt wants to hear someone say they plan on leaving with their head on a pike. You are going about it wrong...That's Brujah 101...a quick lesson on not pissing off a person for no reason...now, At this point, he stops walking, standing way taller then her and says You wanna use something else...keep thebpart about The Prince and what's his name then say something like "we urgently need to meet and just leave the whole pike pary out.

That said, he continued walking. The pub was only 1 more block away

"If a little tact means expecting to be handled like a raw egg after breaking a table and attacking another Primogen, then no. Tit for tat, you know that saying ?"

Her lips pulled into a smile, but it didn't include or even reach her eyes. The expression was predatory as her eyes settled back on the Brujah.

"I'm much more than the Princes messenger. Do you know what a Harpy is, Mr. Ares ? Do you know what a Harpy can do ? I am here because the Prince thought it would be better to try and resolve this quietly as opposed to me publically ripping Mr Harris into pieces where everybody can see it."

Nevermind the fact that her own Primogen was also on the line, but the Brujah didn't need to know that.

"So we can do this in two ways, I meet Harris as quickly as possible or I return to Elysium and wait until he shows up there the next time. What would he want more, hm ? Therefore, the head on the pike stays. As does the rest."

Being talked to as if he was a kid who didn't know anything was just about all he was interested in taking. He knew what a Harpy was, and that never in any city he'd been in ever included violence. They just talk shit about you behind your back and try to ruin your reputation. Most Prince's just listen to their advice and do as they see best...most Brujah could care less.

So far she has talked rudely, threatend two different violent actions against a court officer, and tried using both her nominal title and the Prince's name like a crefit card. He could feel his beast start to bark, but he was still cool.

Then if the Prince told you he wants it taken care of quietly, I think I will pass on the point of the message and leave the wording to my own judgements. As I said before...I don't take orders from you or anyone else. You're not in my chain of command. And you just handle it the way the Prince said to...Quietly.

Listen, I'm neither some dumb fledgling or somebody with no status of his own...I'm neither someone who cares about status. So, if you think
he cuts himself off as he feels his fangs growing. Fkrget about it...I'll text him and see what he says. I'm really not in the mood to deal with anyone else's shit tonight.

He pulls out his phone with the faint red light of it already being on, he rattles of a very quick text as he tuns his phone for privacy. If she was a Harpy, she probably used Auspex, they all freaking seems to.

Let's see what he says. at this point, Ares makes efforts to not make eye contact. He walks to the pub, now at his pace and says I texted him...stick around and see what he says.

Ares was unflinching, unscared, and somewhat unimpressed. He tried being cool but how much shit was he going to take? If she needed to talk so damn urgently, then she'd have to chill and wait for George. As for threatening him with violence in his turf or worse, threatening him with violence in Elysium, that shit wouldn't fly either.

"For someone who's not dumb, you seem to have a pretty long line, but I'll spell it out for you really slowly so you don't get lost in those complicated sentences."

She offered with the sweetest and most motherly smile she could muster. Her eyes were still on him but they had nothing of the warmth and friendlyness the rest of her tried to project. They were cold and merciless, and they were pointed only at him in this particular moment, meaning her attention was pointed only at him for this particular moment.

"Sorry I can't draw you a chart at the moment, we'll have to make do without one. So this pyramid that is our society... The base ? People without offices, people like you. Next step ? Harpies. Next step ? Primogen. Next step ? Grand Harpy. Then the Prince and his Number 2. Why did I put Grand Harpy third ? Because I can make or break the reputation, status and station of each and every Camarilla kindred shy of Prince and Seneshal, and even they can go through a lot of trouble if they don't play by the rules of this society. I supervise and enforce these rules and if someone messes up, he or she pays for it. Harris did that and he will make amends for it, if he wants or not."

She raised her hand, her thumb and index finger mere milimetres apart.

"At the moment, you are this close to get onto my list of special friends. This means you can kiss your status goodbye, this means you can play fledgeling and have someone account for you like your Sire did when you were as green as lime. You will report to me in three days at 11 pm for some education on the system we all are part of. Refuse or question the authority of my office once more, and I will have you dragged there. Screaming and covered blood, if need be. Was that clear enough to you ? Or do you want something repeated with more basic vocabulary ?"

And then she sticked around and waited for the Primogen to show or something else to happen. Who knew, this was Brujah country, everything could happen on the territory of the short-fused and ignorant. So much for Clan of the philosophers !

What was this girl's problem, talking to him like a newbie. Ares had tried to be cool and helpful but she was just full of to much pride in herself and really not very pleasant...despite the tone in her voice which drowned out as the sounds of the pub flooded the streets with the opening of the front door.

If she was paying attention mid diatribe she would have noticed him walking off halfway through her first sentence as he mingled into the loud soccer pub crowd to find someone to feed on (with Presence) and not have to hear her anymore. This was the safest course of action since this vamp was actively trying to get his Beast out. One time in trouble tonight was enough.

Besides, Harpies hold social power, not physical threats like Sheriffs, nor do they have the right to summon and drag anyone out...bullshit like this was probably why half the clan went Anarch or still threatens to. He toasted a mug of a dark logger in her direction from across the pub as he found some pretty little woman for a quick snack.

She was at a place she could wait for George now if she really wanted to handle things quietly...all by her damn self...oh wait, not alone, she had her self righteousness, her small sentences and her imaginary flow charts to keep her company till George got back to him

It looked like Ares wasn't too keen on listening to her. But he would be. Soon. Very soon, in fact. Catherine was looking forward to seeing him at the appointed time and place. In the exact manner she had just described to him. She would pay money to see his face the moment it dawned on him, but well, one couldn't have everything. So much to learn... So much to... improve. But that way, it would be more fun. For her at least. The distribution between ombat prowess and brain on this particular Brujah made it seem like it would be not nice for some of the people involved.

She observed the toast and nodded slightly into his direction. Oh yes, this promised to be a lot of entertainment !

Ares relaxed now, having gotten a chance to let his Brujah blood cool down. He watched the doors and the TVs and his dinner and pretty much avoided the Harpy so long as she sat there and waited to talk to George.

By this point, Ares was half contemplating returning to Jamaica, but Eddie would kick his ass if he did. The next night would have to be better or he woud start to lose his cool, more so than he had already done with the Anarch from George's meeting.

((OOC - guys, sorry for the double post, got a text and figured it was worth adding in. :) ))

Having gotten a text back, Ares found a spot loser to the door so he could keep an eye out for the Primogen. They were only a block away from where they had the meeting, so he was expecting him to come popping up any minute now.

Ares, at this point, reread the text and looked over at the "Grand" harpy, a title he had never seen in any other city. Letting his eyes go back to the door he contemplated being an Anarch? They seemed to not care about shit like this. That girl, the former scourge of DC, she would have probably knocked this girl out for talking so crazy to her. The more Ares thought about the whole 5 minute event, the more he got upset. He probably could have just finished his cigar in the alley and walked away without ever bumping into this headache. Funny part was that she was under the impression that he gave a shit. What did Ares ever care about status, status never once saved his life. Grenades don't mind what rank or status you have, they just do their thing, much like he did. He got her to meet George quickly, which was all he had to do, not impeding her work...but now it seems he has made a new enemy.

Hahahah...wait, she wasn't an enemy, because he didn't care. Let her take the status points away from him, they didn't mean ANYTHING to him. He did worry about George though, who was taking on the responsibility of the clan, he, as Primogen, had to care about status. It was enough to make him happy he would never deal with the headache of being in charge...who puts a hired gun in charge of shit anyway?

Whith that though giving him peace of mind once more, Ares happily concentrated on the girl he planned on feeding from. Short, blonde, very cute...but more importantly then any of those things, full of blood.

A meeting with the Grand Harpy, as if I didn't have enough trouble in the last days... If he did anything to get her in a bad mood, I'll probably get violent on him... But that doesn't matter now...

Dressed in all-black as it became increasingly common in the last nights, George entered the pub, not looking very pleased to basically be summoned by Hogwarts' own version of a harpy. Glowering at the people present he let himself fall on a chair, build a pillar of coins on the counter and ordered a pint of beer, a glass of rum and refills until the money was spent... Then he turned his attention to Little Miss Statusbreaker, gesturing her he was listening...

George had entered, and Ares was impressed. He watched carefully how he handled the mouthy blonde that tried to get his beast out at the meeting, the one Ares kicked the chair out from under. A sadistic part of Ares wanted to see where George's breaking point would be, but really, he eyed the interactions of the Primogen with a great deal of respect.

George had been called out by the harpy, which he knew wasn't good for a city officer. They only come to arbitrate when shit hits the fan...he smiled to think of George breaking shit, like the table the harpy harped over.

This was a big moment for George in Ares eyes, not that it mattered much what he thought though . Still, would George have the stones to stand up to this social bully or would he let the big mouth run all over him. Hard to tell as it was the Prince she was speaking for, or so she says...he's pretty sure this was more about her ego. Ares sat back and watched from an angle the Grand Harpy would have to crane her neck forif she wanted to see him.
