Appearance: Esme was a pretty girl in life, with long blonde hair and piercing green eyes. Her small frame hid the heart of a lion, and it has come out now that she has a new purpose. She did not pale when she was embraced, thought her face has taken on a far more serious expression. She dresses in loose fitting garments, both for mobility and to hide weapons other than her sword.
Personality: Esme has a dour personality, her experiences with the Inquisition and the Tremere making her extremely paranoid. She believes there to be traitors and traps all around her at all times, and this has prohibited her from carrying on her work. She tries to appear calm, but she does not always succeed. Her face is typically set in a dour expression, and smiles are rare in her company.
History: Esme was embraced not because of her prowess in combat, but because of her will to defend others. She had been evacuated during the plague that affected Lille, and was in a small caravan of other young women and children in the last few mass exodus from the town. It was late at night when the wagons she was riding in were attacked by marauders. They knew the caravan had nothing but women and children, and were looking to make slaves of them. When one of them approached her wagon, she shielded the children from him, and then stabbed the man with a pitchfork. AS he lay on the ground, screaming and clutching his stomach, the others approached. She drove away quickly, nearly killing the horse in her escape. She never knew what happened to the other wagons, but she had saved six young girls from a fate worse than death.

And that did not go unnoticed.

A Salubri warrior had been tracking the marauders for three nights. She slew them before they knew there an enemy among them. It took her three hours to catch up with Esme and the cart, which the girl had hidden along the side of the road in some thick trees. The two spoke until dawn, talking about justice, and protecting those who are unable to protect themselves. She saw something in Esme, a heart that would be dedicated to justice. All she needed was the training and equipment.

When the sun began to rise, the woman fled into the woods. Esme made sure the children reached the next town, and then returned back to where she had last spoken to the woman. She waited all day, and then lit a fire when darkness approached again. The woman returned, and again they spoke until nearly sunrise. They spoke further about justice, and how one person could make a difference if they only had the will. This time, the woman took Esme's hand, and then brought her into the woods with her.

There was a cave, cleared out of both animal and debris. She was brought to a pile of thatch on the floor, and offered the chance to protect others for eternity. It was something Esme thought of for ten minutes and readily agreed.

She didn't remember much, other than pure bliss, and a gnawing hunger when she awoke. Her sire, Karina, had brought her a fresh deer to feed from. She spent weeks in the forest, learning to hunt and getting rudimentary training in weapons and tracking.

She would have preferred to stay longer, but they were not the only ones in the forest. The hounds of the church had been looking for the demon that slaughtered the bandits, and they were closing in on the scent.

The traveled the French countryside for the next decade, ridding the areas of banditry and other dangers to the people as they went. After such a long travel, Karina bid her prodigy farewell, knowing that it would be too dangerous for the two of them to stay together. She was well versed in her abilities and the society she had joined. She was also an accomplished warrior now, and could carry on the task.

She never heard back from her sire, although she never felt her passing either. With the rise of the Tremere, and her Inquisitorial pursuers, she left the lands of the Franks and went across the sea to England. She could continue her work, and for the time being had slipped away from the church and the Tremere that were hunting her down.

She spends her nights feeding from the drunkards at whatever inn she is staying at for the few days she spends in each small town, their deep slumber ensured she is never disturbed. She doesn't like her meals to struggle, and it helps her keep a low profile while she watches for the Tremere or any of her own kind that have survived this long.
