"I just ask that you get it done quickly." She dipped the last of her bread in the soup, eating it not so lady like. There really wasn't any time to learns need while you were down in the tunnels, but the food was wonderful, made sure to be stolen from the best restaurants in the Norlands. She then traced a note in the wood for Eolas. 'They're here for Aeron.' When the piece was put on the table, she quickly plucked it from the table with slim fingers, bringing it closer to her face for inspection. Her eyes puckered slightly and they flashed once realising what it was. "Well then. We'll skip this shipment. We've enough silver until the next one comes through in a couple of weeks. I believe the next one is furs and meat from the north and east, correct?" |

"Of course. Give me a few days time and we shall know everything we need to know."Eolas said confidently and after reading the note his tone momentarily flashed concern, but continued the confident act. He can't alert the others that something was wrong, not without serious backlash. "Of course they are." he says with a chuckle, trying to still portray his thoughts without showing the room the urgency behind them. "Well, they won't have any chance now will they? Not when we know what they're doing weeks before they do it." At the response of skipping the raid, Eolas made a pouting face, a challenge like this unmet was disappointing, especially after his work. But he understood they couldn't make an unnecessary run with so much risk. He finished the last of his meal happily, enjoying the fine broth as it warmed him once more. "Yes, those shipments should pass near the designated point within the next day or so. It won't be a problem since most of what we need is set up, we just must get into position." he says with another air of confidence. |

"I should like to hope that we'll prevent it. You know how sick he can get." Plus she felt it was her turn to save a life. Fingering the edge of her bowl, Braiden stared down at the empty contents, the little piece of silver weighing her pocket down. She would have to sell it off, wash her hands clean. Just being near silver seemed to bother Aeron, so she beckoned him away quickly. Hearing Eolas' reassurances seemed to comfort her slightly, and she brought a few of her braids over her shoulder to finger them gently. "Stop pouting Eolas. The next shipment will be plenty for us. Silver is not the primary objective. Meat and clothing are, especially with the Rat Children we've been picking up as of late. It's starting to get a bit more difficult feeding the family." It really did worry her; it was one if her worst fears. Not being able to provide for the family was a great dishonour, like Jimmy upstairs, and you aren't treated any better if you do rise up the ranks eventually. Braiden sighed softly and dropped her face into her hands, whispering, "Sometimes I even wonder why I took up the leader job..." |

"I know, I know. You are right, I just let my excitement get the best of me." Eolas nodded knowingly, and a sense of her worry began to nudge at him. Damn, he wasn't one to see people he knew unhappy. It bothered his good natured mood. He knew what it was to be unhappy, they all did. That is the exact reason they were part of the family. They were as thick as thieves, because they were the only ones to be close to. Even if you can't trust pocket change around the crowd it was the closest any of them had to family. When he saw her begin to break down a little he shrugged, he wouldn't want the position she was in, not in a million years. "Well, because you handle it better than any of us could. If you weren't in charge, we WOULD go hungry. We wouldn't be able to take in as many people as we do. Heck, imagine Chris in charge, or me!" he says waving his arms then gesturing to himself flashily. "If "I" were in charge, well, it would be more fun for the thirty minutes this place would still be operating before everything crashed and burned." He says, not able to hold back a little laughter as he imagined himself that far in over his head. "You took the job because its what your good at, and what we all need." Eolas finishes his longwinded speech with that sentence, offering her a small smile. |

"Gods, if Chris took the family in his hands, I don't know what I'd do. Hire an assassin maybe." But Braidenistened to every word that he said with a soft smile, quickly waving over someone to bring them two more cups of ale. "It's just I worry if they're going to make it. The rite of passage isn't that easy you know, especially when you want to be on the front lines. Take James for example. He tries so hard, but screws up te entire operation in one fell step. The poor Rat." The cups hit the table, a bit of the alcohol spilling over, but she didn't care. "It was my father's job to take care of you lot before I came along. And even then it's been a while, yeah? Fifteen something years now?" A sip of her ale, and Braiden smiled at the Irishman over her cup, her emerald eyes sparkling. It seemed like she had a degree of charm on people, depending on the person. It was just how she used it that was the problem. |

Eolas laughs aloud at this, not one to find death humorous but that was funny. Chris would run this place into a mercenary house or the ground. "Some of them wont." Eolas answered a little more bluntly than he planned. "The trial is a challenge for a reason, otherwise we wouldn't be nearly as efficient." he says downing his ale in a couple gulps. He didn't drink all the time, but he could handle it when he did drink. He ought to thank his bastard father for that. "Jimmy made it because he has got some potential, and fate saw that. He didn't join just to die." He says with that same cheery smile. "Your father? Well, he was quite a man, anyone here can tell you that." he says lazily swirling a finger in the air to motion to them all. "But he is not the big picture anymore. You are. Take what he did right, and fix what he did wrong. Thats what inheritance is all about, right?" Eolas wouldn't know personally, of course. His father had nothing to his name and when Eolas killed him in the heat of a family feud, he didn't get a penny richer from the act. Eolas noticed his superior staring at him over her ale, and an idea occurred to him. "Say, if your that worried, we could read your fortune. That way you can at least plan ahead." He says with a broad smile, pulling his very well used deck of tarot cards out and holding them up for her to see. |

"James is a wonderful individual," she whispered softly. "Adorable child. I can't wait to see how he'll be when he grows up. He's fifteen, yes?" Another sip from her ale and she was sent on another trip down memory lane. Yes it was an inheritance. Something that she felt like she wasn't ready to take just quite yet. But here she was, taking up the family name, taking care of the people who've taken care of her over the years. Sighing softly, she shook her head to clear it. "You always were a future fanatic. Sure. Why not." Braiden rolled her eyes softly as she motioned for him to continue, watching the cards curiously as he toyed around with them. What Eolas was doing right now was what he did best. |

"That's right, ma'am. Right on the brink of sixteen if my sources are right." He says as he shuffles the cards as easily as twiddling his fingers, the cards were as much a part of him as his own flesh and blood. "Yes, that I am. I would prefer the term "Enthusiast" rather than "fanatic." He says laughing good naturedly. "Did you know, that Tarot decks each have their own name and soul?" he asks, setting the air of mystery with a lesson on the facts of tarot decks. "Mine's named Mara, meaning "sea" in my homes old language." He says before fanning out the cards in front of him for her to see. "Here we are, now take any three cards, and concentrate onto them." He says with a wide smile. He was never happier than when telling a fortune or playing with the cards. It was his zen, and he hoped to share that with his troubled leader. |

"Do they now?" Braiden chuckled to herself softly, watching him flip the cards, listening to him talk. A finger came up to wrap itself around her braids. She seemed amused, but she really was troubled, worried about the income, food and clothing for her family, and for Aeron. Though she only cleared her head once more and her hand reached out to finger the cards one by one, and pulled out the three that seemed to cling to her fingers the most. One by one, she flipped them over to look at the colourful pictures on the surface. "Which ones are these, darling?" |

Eolas chuckled at the pet name, he would normally quip back but instead he carefully studied the cards each one by one. "Normally, to air out mystery, we flip them up one by one, but that's just a formality." He says chuckling softly to himself, letting his hand brush over each card. These cards had a very clear story to him, even without a word written on them. The pictures had weight and meaning, the direction of course was important too. After he got a good reading he nodded softly, and began speaking without his usual care free tone. He pointed to the card on her right first, looking down to it and up to her. "Of course you pick this card first, Braiden." he says a little pointedly, placing his hand over his mouth and scratching at the beginning of a beard that bothered him. "This card is the tower, upright." He explains what the card obviously shows, a large and ominous tower, windows shadowed and the facade bright with a lightning strike at its corner. "It means disaster, sudden change. This is obviously referring to your father's passing. This event made a major impact upon your life and changed your whole style of living, forcing you into a leadership role you did not see yourself worthy of." he says flatly, his cheery atmosphere gone. He is speaking through the cards now, the cards speaking through him. It is a trance state, he has not blinked the entire time, though only the truly attentive would notice. Next he points to another card, the middle. it is reversed, the picture upright to Eolas rather than her. The picture depicts a shining star at the top of the portrait, larger than the smaller stars in the sky surrounding it. It basks a beautiful maiden in fine linen and brilliant light. "This, is the star, reversed. In this particular case it represents a lack of faith, disparity or discouragement. This card represents the present, and what you are currently feeling. You do not feel ready for the challenge of leading the family, and feel that you are not suitable. Your own mind is becoming a crutch, and it has begun to take its toll." He finishes with the card, giving her a moments pause to reflect his words before moving on. Lastly his hand rests on the final card, the card directly to her left. The card is macabre, even compared to the tower card. It is a tall silhouette, taking up the entire card is a cloaked figure with a large scythe. A skeletal face half appears beneath the hood and seems to fade in and out of sight through the hooded shadows, black eyes staring directly up at Braiden. "The last card is, if you could guess, Death. It is a powerful card, as all of the cards you have picked are. Each are major arcana, only twenty two in the deck and you picked three of them. It proves you are important in the eyes of the tarot, and of fate." He tangents for a moment before clearing his throat. "Death, upright, is a card representing endings and beginnings. It represents change, transformation, or transition. The cards say that what lies ahead may be challenging, but it shall result in a large change to not only yourself, but us all. You are important to us all, no, to even more. You are more powerful than you know, and your future is truly an awesome one. You shall create history." He finishes with a dramatic flair, different than his normal kind. It was not intentional, rather the words he spoke that were dramatic than the way he spoke them. |
