"Chris," Eolas says with a sad sigh, turning to him after a long puff of smoke. "You have been in battle, right? You know how important morale is. Why would you pull a stunt like that now of all times? You know this is important to the family..." The tone that Eolas wasn't angry anymore, in fact the rage was blown way out of proportion simply to prove a point. "We can't have the men be thinking about how strong foundations are while trying to steal a heavily guarded shipment." Eolas sighs again, looking to Chris with a look. "Can you just follow her normally this mission, at least give her a chance to prove herself?" |

The two step through the exit to the tunnel and step into the bright daylight of high noon. The river leading out of the city can be seen glistening in the sunlight over the horizon. Eolas lights up a smoke to cool his nerves while Chris walks over to a small grassy hill and falls flat on his back to relax in the meadow. "Come on Eolas! Out of everyone here you should know me the best! Its part of that snitch skill set carry about." Chris speaks with a smirk as he pulls out a flash of whiskey and drinks it calmly. He even offers the flask to Eolas if he wants some. "I want nothing more then to go on this raid. Hit the caravan hard and fast. Set up an ambush further up the road to cut them off. Suffer some losses to the knights but we'd come out on top. Textbook tactics that Braiden regularly deploys. I was looking forward to it all! Then... She had to bring the fledglings that only serve to rack up the body count against us AND GET IN MY WAY. I mentioned it wasn't a good idea and I got attacked so I made sure she suffered for it. Simple as that Eolas." Chris explains and loses the joyful tone as he closes his eyes and falls into deep relaxation. "I'm no leader Eolas and you know that. All I'd do is get everyone killed. All I want in life is some booze, women, and a good fight every so often. Simple needs when you compare it to how desire for wealth corrupts most of the family. Anyone that stands in my way of enjoying my life is going to die. Braiden nearly brought me to that point today. Instead I choose to let her live and only embarrass her in front of the family. I already regret not killing her...." Chris says with a snarl and pops one eye open to make sure he held Eolas's attention. "Your writing this stuff down right Mr. Informant?! If I whine up dead in the morning your the only one to carry on my legacy here!" |

Eolas sighs and takes a long swig of the flask, he would not deny some ale after the fit he threw a minute ago. "I know that is just how you are, and your better than a lot of the thieves around us are for it. And I know you were excited, we all were. It is good that we are getting such a large shipment into the family's hands. I just think all of this in fighting is going to cause some backlash." Eolas sighs, sitting down on the ground across from Chris. It was strange, that for all of the people that hated Chris he wasn't as much of a monster as they made him out to be. Granted he was a bully and a jerk, but he wouldn't pick pocket you in your own home, nor would he lie to your face. That already made him more trustworthy than several of the other thieves he knew. With that last comment Eolas chuckled, he was truly amazed at how flippantly Chris could discuss his own demise. "Don't ya worry there, Chris. I got all of the know how right here. When my book gets finished I'll ave ya be a major character. and if your end comes up it will be a real tear jerker." Eolas was in a much less furious mood, even semijovial. And he wasn't kidding about the book either. When his days as a thief were done, he swore he'd make a book of the secrets of all manner of dead thieves so that someone would remember em, and it would be sort of an autobiography. It was his last hurrah he called it. "Say, Chris, I got a plan you may be interested in. I've known ya a while and I think you may be interested." This was also true, they had been working together for at least ten years, though for letting out his age's sake, Eolas never admitted it. "But if we go through with it ya gotta try and be on better terms with Braiden, ya hear? Her hearts in the right place, she's just a little green is all." |

Chris once again closed his eyes and smiled peacefully as a gust of wind brushed through the grass beside him. It liked the idea of being a character in a story. He couldn't seem himself compared to legendary dragon slayers of fiction or some famous vampire. He was a simple, even boring, man just living his life. Not even fitting to be a hero of any story as everyone thought he was an asshole and he knew he was an asshole. No would miss him when he falls on the battlefield. No family, no lovers, and piss poor issues for friends. Instead Chris felt as along as he found pride being a pushing force, even if insignificant, to something greater. It's people like Braiden that are destined for greatness. Its in her birthright. He was simply there for the joyride of it all. "Eolas. If you do write about our boring ass life and the struggles we face barely scratching by for human necessities while living in an abandoned sewer system, I want everything written about me true. No fabrications, no tales of false heroism, and every flaw and mistake I've been in there. Boring story if you ask me but I demand that that history remembers me as I was... and if you lie about one thing I'll come back from the grave and break your every single one of your fucking fingers!" Chris says jokingly but with a dead serious tone. Chris hops back to his feet as soon as Eolas brought up his so called plan. "I can't promise anything I know I propally won't keep but I can give you my word that I'll at least try a little. Lets hear the plan." Chris says with a cold expression as he awaits Eolas's idea. Jimmy ran forth from the cave waving him arms high in the air while yelling 'HEYYOOO!! CHRIS! EOLAS!". Chris goes dead silent and closes his eyes hoping Jimmy would just speak to Eolas. Of course Jimmy went straight for Chris. "HEY CHRIS I GOT A MESSAGE FROM THE BOSS LADY! Take it! T-t-t-t-take it!" Jimmy speaks and keeps poking Chris until he had his attention. Chris sighs, facepalms, and speaks, "Why are you here bothering me maggot! I was just starting to enjoy company for the first time in my life AND YOU JUST HAD TO SHOW UP AND REMIND ME HOW MUCH I HATE ALL OF YOU!" Chris ends with a roar of anger that stares Jimmy. "Give me that!" Chris says as he takes the message. "Go on with your plan Eolas." Chris speaks as he reads the note. Jimmy looked sad because of Chris's abuse so Chris give him a gentle pat on the head. He would never tell him thank you but that was as close as Chris would get to showing appreciation so Jimmy was happy. |

Eolas genuinely laughs at this, flopping down against the grass. "Aye, of course Chris. I would never lie about your charming qualities. It would undermine the entire point of the story. Aside from possible name changes all of this will be uncut, don'tcha worry. We'll all be remembered if I have my way." Eolas finishes with a sigh, finally back to his good mood. He should probably apologize Braiden. Eolas laughs at the scene between Jimmy and Chris, how classic between them. He shrugs off the yelling and waves Jimmy away a few feet before scooting closer to Chris. "Alright, so I've been thinking. You don't like direct responsibility, and I have been feeling like I don't have any stake in the clan, and I'd rather you be on Braiden's side for the stability's sake. So, I was considering of becoming a raid leader for her, and taking you on my missions. This way you can get the thrill of being out in these missions all the time without any responsibility, I can climb up the ranks so I can expand my information empire, and Braiden has your support to keep the clan stable." He says with a whispering voice. He doesn't NEED power, but it would surely help with his business. Plus associating with Chris this much will ensure him a very worthy bit of muscle to back him up. And Braiden can keep a seat of authority. "So, what do you say? I believe she would allow me to take up the mantle." |

"Eolas you haven't been doing your homework properly. I already am a raid leader. Rather I AM THE raid leader. When it's time to kick the door in rather then pick the lock, it's my job! Didn't you see all those ugly looking boys guarding me against Braiden? That's my warband. I've been in a popstion of power since Braiden's father was in charge and Braiden wouldn't dare strip away my power else everyone I'd be taking all the muscle out of the family. Leaving you all helpless as a fucking brain dead baby if the city guard came-a-knockin." Chris explains. |

Eolas laughs, brushing hair out of his eyes. "Yeah, ain't that true enough. I think I mixed something up, I dunno. I have just been wanting to get my hands dirty, ya know?" He says laying back down again. Yeah, he figured that Chris didn't need anymore power than he had, but he figure he'd test the water. "I appreciate you trying to work with the girl, though. I'll try and cool the waters on her end too." He says cheerily. Hopefully he can keep this civil. "Well, maybe I can join ya on one of your raids. I need some new interesting shinies, and its best to find em out in the field." |

Jimmy takes a see seat in the grass while Chris is strangely staring hard at the message and appears to be struggling as he turns his body away and towards the sun. Could possibly be the glare from the sun or he didn't know how to read. "You don't want that." Chris says while distracted by the note. "He took me on a raid once. Really messy. Blood never did wash out of my socks!" Jimmy explains to Eolas. |

The note. Oh yes the note. Braiden laid back against the soft grass as her mind aired out, her anger cooling. Her wrist still pounding, she ignored it, crossing her legs with a soft smile. Humming a soft toon. She could only imagine Chris' reaction to wanting to apologise him in person, wanting to explain things. She knew that he knew that she would be in the exact spot that she was in now, though she didn't show any fear. If they didn't think she was doing right as the leader of the Family, then what reason did she have to be here? It would be more honourable to be slain by a strong hand than cast out and shunned by family. Slain by one who had his hands stained by blood already. Surely everyone would understand her failure at her role, what it meant to her to take care of them. Aeron was gone, wondering where his best friend had gone. Though he immediately knew after he watched Jimmy run off with the blade and back with a note to the no good thief. He only kept calm and he waited for orders. Braiden kept calm, sorrowful, and happy... ...and she waited until Chris would come to draw his blade against her. |

Eolas wondered why on earth Chris would try to bring Jimmy on to an assignment, except for possibly trying to get him killed. Did that mean Chris thought Jimmy had better combat training then he did?!! No, it couldn't be. That would be the highest insult coming from Chris. But he decided to drop the raid idea, it looked as if he was getting nowhere. "So, what's Braiden sending bout?" |
