"Hmh! Looks like Braiden wants to meet up with me alone to apologize and talk things over. At best she's just gotta creep me out and we move on with our lives. At worse I'm exchanging places with her toothpick floating down river. " Chris speaks to Eolas and Jimmy after ripping up the note and throwing it to the wind. "Actually she already her ebony blade back! I found it in the well!" Jimmy says proudly. "Fan-fucking-tastic Jimmy. At least the crazy bitch will have her favorite shank!" Chris says with a small sarcastic laugh as Chris begins walking away. "Eolas follow. Your going to watch and observe. If I'm attacked you don't interfere. If I die, you don't interfere. Make sure she doesn't see you and take Jimmy with." Chris says bluntly and marches off in the distance across the field of grass. "In case you didn't know Eolas, he's abit of a drama queen." Jimmy spoke to Eolas while snacking on some crackers.

Chris approaches Braiden as she laid down on top of a grassy hill overlooking a field of grass. Daisies and other such wild flowers shatter the field all around them. A single tree stands erect atop the hill. A tree as old as time and massive in size to boot with the front of it debarked. Engraved into the wood are the name's of those who the family will never forget and more importantly, the names and dreams of every leader of the family. Braiden's father included. Chris immediately recognized the area. It was on these very grounds that the family was founded. It was sacred ground. Chris glances over at the engravings and walks up to the tree. He slides his fingers down engravings and reads over the few favorites of his family's legacy. He finishes and takes a seat beside Braiden in the grass. "Why of all places... Did you pick here?" Chris asks not in his usual rude tone. Rather one out of sorrowful confusion and curiosity.

Eolas looks at the remnants of the note with a sigh. Hopefully it IS an apology rather than a bold faced attack. That would only rile up Chris' men if he did survive, or kill her. "Good idea. I'll be sure to not make a move." He says, knowing to follow quietly and carefully. He was an informant, so he was pretty apt in stealth. "Oh, have you got that right. Alright, Jimmy-James-Jim-Jam, we gotta go watch whatever happens. But no sound, alright?" He says in a kind but stern tone. With that he gets up and darts into the tree, going from tree to try to follow Chris in an unnoticed manner.

She didn't raise her head as Chris walked up, and her ears pricked at the noise of subtle movement as he sat down beside her. Only then did she open her eyes, staring up at the sky and then to looke at his remorseful face. "Why? This is my favourite place to be Chris. As sad as it is, it's peaceful here, and it's such a shame that barely anyone comes anymore. This place is dying out. It seems like it's become such a secret place. It's quiet, somewhere you can enjoy the silence and respect our fallen members at the same time." She remembered the first time she had been here, only five at the time, her small hand in her father's. She had carved her mother's name into one sole branch itself, one that had been untouched until her father died. When she died, she wanted her name to be right next to their's, as did Aeron. The thought of it almost made her choke, and her good hand clenched.

Finally, she sighed. "Chris... I'm sorry I'm not my father," she started. "As much as I prayed for it not to be, I didn't want to lead this family, that I'm never ready to lead all of you. Fuck, you people have already figured that out..." Braiden laughed to herself softly. "I'm ignorant. Stubborn. Unfortunately that's all in one sitting. I know how much you wanted to kill me right then and there.." Finally she stood, her eyes catching Eolas and Jimmy in the bushes, watching carefully. She walked gracefully to the riverside before she spun on her heel, her eyes meeting Chris'. She spoke again.

"If you think I'm wrong, unfit for this raid and foremost, leading the family..." She took a shuddering breath. "Then kill me. Slit my throat, push me into the water so I mgbt wash away forever."

Chris stood straight up off the ground in response to her proposal. He couldn't believe what he's seeing. He lets out a deep sigh while facepalming himself. He shields his eyes so he can't think clearly on this without even looking at Braiden in her pitiful state. This request was a trap. Ether kill her and become a true monster to the family or admit she should lead. Total bullshit he thought but he kicked himself in a figuratively sense to think emotionally here and not strategically like usual. It's times like these he wishes he was a nicer person. "Listen dipshi-... I mean Braiden." Chris says before lending down against the tree behind him so he stared back at Braiden at eye level instead of towering over her. "You are, and never will be, your father. Stop trying to be something your not because your not him. Your you. Braiden, leader of the family. Whether or not you believe your up for or even want the job doesn't matter because your fucking stuck with it. After a few choice words from pops the family has entrusted itself in your hands." Chris explains then moves away from the tree to point at the engravings. "All these men and women on that tree didn't get there by following someone else's path. Not even a ghost's. Some didn't even choose where they went or how it ended... but they all ended cutting their own paths for both themselves and the family through a shroud of complete uncertainty. So far all you've done is bitch and cry! None of them would even think about asking a disgusting jerk like me to end their lives out of pity!" Chris says with rage before marching straight up to Braiden. "Despite all that your still the rope holding this family together. Every rat child, every thieve, every drunk asshole through that tunnel looks up to you! You need to start leading by example. You need to stop showing weakness to the family and instead give us a damn dream to fight for. One that is your own and no one else's." Chris spoke then grabbed Braiden by her shoulders. "Until then it's my job, my responsibility, to kick your skinny little ass and prove to you your wrong no matter what you do until get the guts to stand on your own two feet! Call it tough love little birdie! You stuck with me and the family until you make something of all of us and we engrave your name on that tree! Your not allowed to die until then and I'll see to that myself! You don't get to walk away that easy" Chris says in a fierce tone.

Braiden's eyes widened at his outburst, and she tilted her head as he continued to speak. She opened her mouth several times to talk back, to try and get a word in, but he never let her have the chance, and when he marched up to her, she couldn't help but flinch away from him when he grabbed her shoulders. It jostled her wrist and she finally hissed in pain, keeping it plastered to her back where if he were to hurt her in any way, she'd be able to defend. But...didn't she just ask him to...

After he was finished, she realised that he actually didn't have the heart to do what she had asked. Smiling sincerely, Braiden put a finger against his chest and pushed him back slightly, humming gently as his hands left her shoulders. "You do have a heart, Chris. I admire that." Giggling softly, Braiden side stepped away from him to march back up to the tree, dragging her fingers against the names that carried the whole family's legacies. "The only reason I saw for to follow my daddy's dreams is because I followed them myself. Him and I saw eye to eye." Her finger landed on her last name, a stoic look on her face. Though her emerald eyes contained murder and grief, something that Chris couldn't see immediately. Turning to him once more, she smiled softly. "I just need your help with this raid. To provide for us. You said you came from Polaris, yeah? Then you know how those caravans work. That's why I need you here."

And she flippantly turned again, starting to march back before realising she had two more things to say. She called out over her shoulder: "Chris? I may be twenty two, but I'm still a child. And fuck you too." A mischievous grin overtook her face as she eventually faded from view.

Chris couldn't speak a word as Braiden walked away. He was too busy flailing his arms in every direction while biting down on his lower lip. Normally this is where he would get into a speech about how pathetic it is she is following a dead man's dream instead of her own. After all following anyone else's dream instead of your own makes you a pawn, not a master. However Chris was so tired of her childish shit he could barely formulate words. "STILL A CHILD AND YOUR 22?! WHAT BULLSHIT!" Chris yells throughout the valley and runs up to Braiden while she walks away and pushes her down the hill, her body rolling down uncontrollably. "I'M SO SICK OF THIS WOMAN! EOLAS AND JIMMY! GET YOUR ASSES DOWN HERE!" Chris roars then quickly sprints to the tree they're hiding in. "Oh God Eolas climb higher now!" Jimmy commands then starts climbing higher and drags Eolas with him. "EOLAS TALK SOME SENSE INTO THIS BITCH! I'M TIRED OF IT! AND JIMMY! GET DOWN HERE AND FIGHT ME! YOU NEED PRACTICE!" Chris screams while beginning to climb the tree. "NO you'll just throw me off a cliff again!" Jimmy responses and throws a pine cone down at him, knocking him in the face. "OWCH QUIT IT! THAT WAS ONE TIME!!! YOU DIDN'T EVEN GET THAT HURT! GET DOWN HERE YOU BASTARD!" Chris yells as the continues to climb up while Eolas and Jimmy throw sticks and cones down at him. Braiden witnesses the whole event from the the base of the hill after she stops rolls. Chris, Eolas, and Jimmy all fall off the tree in one large mass and then begin play wresting and fighting like children. Despite all the drama and internal conflict Braiden knew everyone here were brothers and sisters. All looking out for one another for better or worse. All four displayed a faint smile in that very moment, where they cared for nothing but each other and the promising future ahead for each one of them.

The sun sets and dust soon approaches. An iron flood gate of one of the cities many underground tunnels slowly creeks open and soon urges a large force of thieves on horseback all galloping into the forest ahead. Chris rides on his warhorse with Jimmy clinging onto him while he sits behind him and Eolas rides beside them both; leading the march just behind braiden and her friend Auron at the head of the family. Chris lowers his brown cloth bandit covering his month and announces, "LISTENING UP MAGGOTS!" Chris passes that reigns of reins of the horse to Jimmy who reluctantly take thems so Chris can hop over him to the back of his horse and face the army behind them. "We are moving in to ambush the caravan riding out the Norland country side into Polaris. Expected time of arrival of ambush site is one hour while we expect to engage the enemy in two! We expect at least a caravan of three armored guarded wagons! If we are lucky we should only expect four royal knights along with a supplement military soldiers. At worse there will be eight knights with no supplement and lets all pray that's not the case. If you ever do fight toe to toe with a knight fight defensively and dodge rather then parry. They're know to take oversized weaponary meant for monster slaying so blocking is out of the question. Instead fight dirty as possible! These men think themselves honorable folk and expect the same from the enemy. Prove them wrong.... and go for the killshots at the neck, eye sockets, underarm, and sides of their guts! Armor is weakest there if not none there at all!" Chris yells out to the others while Jimmy struggles to control Chris's horse. "Give it your all and take from them everything they have! Lady Braiden here will explain plan!" Chris says then takes the rein's of his horse back from Jimmy.

While Chris waited for Braiden to explain the battle strategy, Chris and all of his men pull out a small glass flask filled with ashes that hung from their necklaces from underneath their collars. They all lick their fingers and dip them into the ash and paint a half circle underneath their left eye and finish by clawing four of their fingers across the right side of their face leaving a trail of set ash to soak into the skin. The ashes were made of the corpses of fallen brothers-in-arms that were burnt in an Honorable pyre fire. "We will not cast your dreams into this heartless world! We will always be with you." Chris thought to himself as did all his men. A barbaric tradition some may call it but Chris and the men took it very seriously. With Chris's rude and destructive nature this was possibly the only thing he held sacred.

Braiden couldn't help but yelp when tackled, but let loose a bunch of kicks of her own to his shins and sides. But when she was pushed away and watched as the boys fought, she started to laugh hysterically while pointing at them, a huge smile on her face. Her father asked her take care of them in his will, and she had taken up the duty to do so. She would follow her own dream, she decided as she stood, bending her wrist to only find it just a bit more fragile than she anticipated. But she'd be alright.

She looked upon the Family as her and Aeron rode up front, staring up at her right hand man. His silver eyes caught hers, and a goofy smile spread across that face of his, laughing as he swept some blonde hair from his face. But his attention shifted when Chris started to explain what was going to be going on, what to look for and what to do in the worst case scenario. In a way, Braid was glad that she kept him around, as bitchy as he could be, and she couldn't stand it. She never understood why her father took a liking to him, but she needed Chris right now, more than she'd like to ever admit in her life. Her thoughts were torn away when he called out her name, and her good hand clutched the reigns of her horse. Her injured hand was bound, and she held it close to her chest, and it would stay that way if she even had to fight.

"Thank you Chris." She cast a gentle smile his way before she stood up on her horse, balancing on the saddle to look at the band of thieves that were ready to go on this raid. There were a lot of them, and she was going to need every single one. There were going to be losses, unfortunately, but this was a risk that they all had to take. It broke her heart when she found some doubtful faces amongst the crowd, and she looked down briefly before looking up with a much more firm look in her eyes. "Family," she started, and several pairs of eyes met hers. "There are more of us gathering each and every day. That's why we need to hit this caravan, especially the one today since it's the larger shipment. There will be a smaller raid tomorrow, and we've already the route laid out that they will take at that time, because they will certainly not take the one they are today once more."

Braiden swallowed. "I'll be a part of the main force. There will be a back up squad if we are in too much trouble, allowing us to retreat with what we can. If your life is on the line...." Her hand trembled. "...don't hesitate to kill the man that threatens to take it." Eyes widened in surprise as they all started talking under their breaths. It wasn't supposed to be like that, it was always a golden rule not to kill those you were stealing from. But Braiden wanted her family alive, and she would tell them to do whatever they needed to do to stay alive. She then followed up with, "For those who do not wish to take a life....please. Stay home." And it surprised her to see that none of them got off their horses, and she smiled softly.

"Alright. You, you, and you are going to be in the backup squad with Aeron. I need all archer experts in the back line, the bandits are up front with me."

Everything was in place and the attack was set. The family hid quietly along the edge of the two sides of a small canyon in which the the merchant road between Polaris and Norland passes through. The polaris caravan should be arriving to pass through the canyon any second. Those closest to the edge ready their knifes, swords, and other weapons as they ready themselves to charge straight in at the enemy when ordered. The second line behind them ready bows and crossbows to give firing support and more importantly disable the wagons. Behind them fall back into the trees were the support team on horseback holding onto the family's horses and ready to move in to rescue and retreat if things go sour. Over the sunset horizon the caravan is spotted moving closer slowly. Four large wooden wagons are seen pulled by horseback with a strange unreported fifth wagon colored solid back with silver garnishing. The accompanying military force appears much large then anticipated. That's about all the information anyone can gather until they move in closer. Nervously everyone goes quiet and tries to hug their cover as close as possible to remain hidden.

Jimmy, Chris, and Eolas all hide behind one another ready for combat. Chris remains dead quiet with his wides widened out of ether fear, excitement, or adrenaline. A bead of sweat rolls down his face and he remains to stare off into the dirt below as if completely lost in his own thoughts. Jimmy turns his attention away from the silent Chris and turns to Eolas. "Hey Eolas..." Jimmy whispers while looking down at his slingshot in his right and the dagger in his left. "I'm scared." Jimmy whispers to Eolas with an expression of horror of what is about to come.

Eolas turned to Jimmy with a soft smile, letting his punching dagger slide down his wrist so he could pat Jimmy's shoulder. "As you should be. Fear can make a smart man aware and a strong man careful. But you need not fear too much. I read the fards, and our gracious lady is on our side." He says grinning honestly, of coure he was referring to lady luck. "She guides each of our kin towards wealth and safety. Thats why we started our family to begin with, because lady luck wants her children to live and prosper. And she won't abandon us in th' thick of it, ya hear?" He asks with a soft tone. He releases his shoulder and grips his off hand punching dagger, the twin blades at the ready. "Stay smart, Jim-Jimmy-Jimbo-JimJam."

Jimmy only smiles back. He nods his head back at Eolas, thankful for his inspiring words.

Chris on the other hand seems to only be freaking out more nervously. It was something about that black wagon that got to him. He begins to sweat more and he starts violently scratch his neck and grind his teeth. Then he stops all the sudden. He instantly turns his head to Eolas and smiles an twisted evil smile he usual only shares to his enemies. "Eolas... Get over here..." Chris says then grabs Eolas by the collar and drags him across the dirt to him against his own will. Holding Eolas's head inbetween his two massive hands Chris looks Eolas straight in the eyes and says, "Your going to make a distraction. Get the bastard out of his wagon. Use that silver tongue of yours to survive..." Chris says in a deep tone then licks his finger and takes some ashes from his necklace and paints the ash underneth Eolas's left eye like warpaint. "For good luck." Chris says nervously then throws Eolas off the canyon chilff by his collar. Chris turns to his men and Jimmy with an expression of rage. "Must have tripped." Everyone nods their head at Chris... Even Jimmy with a huge frown.

Eolas rolls down the cliff of the canyon and even hits a few sharp rocks that cut into his right cheek and left arm. He hits the bottom hard and when he looks up and doesn't see any of his family as they are all hiding. The wagons are ridding just into the caynon and they can clearly see Eolas out in the open with no chance of him hiding or running away from them. There must be at least forty soliders guarding the wagons and they're approaching fast.
