Mandy Lane. She came first, she was better acted, she was better used, and she was less predictable. Jill is really a Mandy 2.0 in all honesty. |

But you're giving her a free-pass, whereas you look at me like I'm totally insane for loving David from Evil Dead

I'm not giving her a free pass, I just said she was better. I also say David is better than Clay. Plus, a different motive is a bigger difference than more crying scenes. Edited by Smeagollum, Jan 17 2014, 10:41 PM.

You also list her as one of the best qualities about Scream 4 When.. ![]() Well, there's also the tiny fact that Mia wasn't physically kidnapped. And I remember more, I just have to rewatch to remember WHAT they were. I haven't seen ED since theaters lol. |

I don't like her because she's a faux-final girl or because she has a pet geek sidekick. I like her for her motive, which you agree is great. The difference with that and you and David is that you like David FOR the things that make him similar to Clay. But that is a tiny fact, since all that changes is Mia and Whitney. David and Clay are still obsessed with saving them, even when everyone tells them it's hopeless. They're still feeling guilty for abandoning them to take care of their dying mom. They're both generically nice, with generically nice love interests. Anything else I missed. |

Well, one is the actual lead and the other is a decoy lead. That's more different than Jill and Mandy are. I see your point htough. What kills Jill for me is Emma's acting. Criiiiiiiiiiinge. At least for most the movie. |

Mandy is the lead while Jill was always second fiddle to Sidney. HA! Makes sense. But writing > performance for me. |

They're both portrayed as the final girl of that movie. Yes, Jill was a "passing th torch" final girl, but STILL a final girl. Well then, you shouldn't mind the Laid to Rest girl because the idea of a prostitute being kidnapped by a serial killer, forgetting who she is, and having to fight to survival AND recover her memory is a fairly interesting and original character concept I'd say both are pretty important, but ALL Jill has over Mandy writingwise is the motive, That's it. Everything else about Mandy is superior.

She was more like H20 John, or Child's Play 3 Tyler, or Aliens Newt. New generation targets for the actual final girl/boy to protect, not the final girl/boy themselves. Either way, David being a decoy lead is yet another similarity. Remind me what other movie have I seen where a character thought to have died early on swoops in to be the hero? Clay just happens to live. No it isn't. Amnesia is a cliche. Plus, Jill wasn't a moron all movie. And it's not like we're comparing Emma to AnnaLynne McCord. I can't even remember Heard's performance. And really, that motive sucked.

It's pretty clear we were MEANT to see her as the final girl, especially with the "A TRIO MEMBER WILL DIE" advertising. So now David=Jenna? Being a prostitute isn't Also, cannot think of ANY final girls who don't remember anything about themselves, where they are, why they're being stalked, etc. As for Amber, she was good but hardly Annalynne McCord. It's more that Emma was so BAD at nice girl. Also, I don't think Mandy really HAD a motive, which I actually don't mind. They kept it a secret.

Advertising like the trailers that focus on Sidney, or the posters that have Neve in the front and Emma in the back? Yes, there were "passing the torch" moments, but Sidney still had the torch and she never passed it. Jill was a potential final girl, Mandy WAS the final girl. That was a Clay comparison. Like David, all he contributes is saving the girl that defeats the villain. Clay survived, but he wasn't the lead. The sisters were. It is for soap operas. And I thought it was supposed to be that she can't stand the attention or something. Either way, she shouldn't get extra credit for inventing the things Jill stole, because she was not the first final girl revealed to be the killer.
