With help from her fairy godmother Leonardo da Vinci,
:s

I saw this as a kid. Don't remember much. There was also one with Brandy.
I didn't write the descrip. It was the LEAST bad one I could find (all of IMDB's were really bad user-submitted ones)

I need to resee it, but I saw it enough to know I loved it. Drew Barrymore was great

So hello from the other side
I must've called a thousand times
To tell you I'm sorry, for everything that I've done
But when I call you never seem to be home

This is the Cinderella movie that should be the most popular. Danielle has a good heart, but she isn't a doormat and is more than capable of saving herself. Her relationship with the prince is more layered than "He's hot, she's hot, and I guess they're both nice." The class differences between the two actually has some role in the story, rather than being an excuse to keep Cinderella from the ball, the not ugly stepsisters are actual characters rather than caricatures, no contrived deus ex machinas to explain away a conflict, and Anjelica Huston's wicked stepmother is both the most hateable and the most complex of them all. Absolutely love it

I remember one of my schools showed this to us as a kid. Haven't seen it again until now. Definitely an improvement over the other versions of the tale. Fitting that I traded this off with Repo for Beauty and the Beast, "Danielle's" whole book thing was clearly modeled after Belle (not a bad thing, Belle rules). Surprisingly, my favorite part of the movie was the prince. He was pretty funny, and I loved his and Danielle's relationship. I think it's the first of these to actually bring up the fact that marrying a commoner is frowned upon.

And yeah, by the end I wanted Huston to get the guillotine. What a bitch. Although I'd be interested in a Cinderella movie told from the stepmother's point of view, where she watches her new husband die and then inherits this spoiled brat that thinks she's better than everyone and raises a rat army because she doesn't like chores, but alas.

So you liked it? Woo. And yeah, hated Huston. Terrific performance. The daughter was dreadful too.

I'll watch BATB tonight.

Nope, hated it. :P

The daughter drove me crazy because I KNOW that actress from somewhere, but I don't know what. Maybe she just reminded me of Angela from The Office. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clMgH1zmPXQ

It really needed to be more rehashey :sob:
Yeah, cannot believe this isn't universally hailed as the Cinderella movie that blows all others out of the park.

OMG I actually thought that was her for a second when I clicked the link. Her performance in this was good though. Not as good as Huston, but man was it satisfying to see those bitches
Spoiler: click to toggle

What would you say Huston's most hateable moment was?

Exchanging Danielle with the creepy guy was probably where I said "bitch needs to go".

This is the second most critically acclaimed adaptation. Second to A Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff, of course. But no, the animated one is always gonna be considered the best for it's classic status. Even though it doesn't really hold up, it's too ingrained in our lives and pop culture not to be.

Mine was either whipping Danielle as she watches her father's book burn or "How can one love a pebble in their shoe?" Heartless bitch.

Actually, third most. A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song exists :creep: (Tho I know my mom thought the Hilary Duff one was cute, and better than the Brandy one so :dead: ) And yeah, figured as much for the animated, but t the very least I'd expect this to get ranked above the fucking rehash remake recycle readaptation.

Also, I forgot to mention, but this would be absolutely hysterical
