Okay, so I just read. This ISN'T going to be a remake.

it's going to be a whole new story within the universe. New ghost, new characters, and new story entirely.

I have to say, now that I know they're not going to keep trying to remake the story. I'm really interested.

Then they should call it "The Grudge: A New Beginning".

Jersey boy for life!
I was about to say "so it's come to this, they're remaking movies just ten years old now."

But seeing that it's apparently not a reboot... well, it doesn't give me hope, exactly, but it removes the "OMG kill it now" feeling I had about this.

There are certain rules one must abide by to successfully survive a horror movie
I didn't like the first Grudge movie so I didn't bother seeing the sequels. So, I'm not going to follow news for this, unfortunately. It doesn't appeal to me at all.

So..... it's a reboot? I'm not really interested in any of the Grudge movies except for the original (Ju-on) honestly. The plot is pretty tired.

Also, if it's actually gonna have a new ghost, new characters, and story... why make it a "Grudge" film in the first place? That sounds like they're just using the series' name for success.

So hello from the other side
I must've called a thousand times
To tell you I'm sorry, for everything that I've done
But when I call you never seem to be home

It's probably because they basic concept (Entering House=Cursed=Followed by Ghost Everywhere Until Death)

I will say, Grudge 2 (American) was actually kinda interesting. It plays out more anthology-style than it does traditional supernatural style. You have three alternating storylines that ultimately tie into each other that all explore the curse affecting people in unique ways. The apartment complex and teen girl ones were fairly enjoyable, the lame sister one was a rehash of the original

Well obviously  But how is it any different than any other Ghost-Horror Film if it doesn't have the ghost/s from original films? That'd be like using the Friday The 13th name but featuring an entirely different, faceless killer. Total cash in.
