As much as I like the idea of doing a remake if it's dead-serious (since the concept IS creepy).... Isn't releasing a remake a year after a sequel a BIT soon?

My thoughts. A reboot makes much more sense. But a remake? It doesn't make much sense. |

What's the difference between a reboot and a remake besides the label? (Excluding the Star Trek one, where it's the same universe but technically a different continuity due to the time travel) |

Isn't a reboot the same as a remake? |

Not technically, a reboot does not always mean they use the same characters. A remake to me moreso implies the same characters and scenarios these days. With Sorority Row and April Fool's Day being the two exceptions. As far as Hollywood goes at least. Edited by Cman710, Apr 19 2014, 10:25 AM.

You can use different characters and still be a remake though? (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Sorority Row, April Fool's Day, Dawn of the Dead) |

Well, Friday the 13th was a reboot. But the others I will give you. But they all seemed to follow the same formula and series of events. Again, with the exception of April Fool's Day and Sorority Row. Which would be pretty stupid if they go that route with this given it's only ten years old. I'm not saying it's what they're going to do. But if that's what they do, like I said, it's a stupid-as-shit idea. |

So Friday '09 didn't follow the same formula and series of events? Where was the term "reboot" in the 80s? Those re-things were a lot more different from their originals than most modern ones are. The Thing doesn't even use the same monster as the original. |
