I'm in California dreaming about who we used to be

In 1951, Laura Brown, a pregnant housewife, is planning a party for her husband, but she can't stop reading the novel 'Mrs. Dalloway'. Clarissa Vaughn, a modern woman living in present times is throwing a party for her friend Richard, a famous author dying of AIDS. These two stories are simultaneously linked to the work and life of Virginia Woolf, who's writing the novel mentioned before.

This movie is so fun and uplifting <3 :tetrawink:

So hello from the other side
I must've called a thousand times
To tell you I'm sorry, for everything that I've done
But when I call you never seem to be home

I kinda despised this. I haven't seen such forced Oscar bait since the director's other movie, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

Idk. Seemed like every single character either had AIDS, was a pretty actress in ugly make-up, or a bored housewife abandoning her family because feminism. No one had autism, because the director was saving it for Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

Well, Nicole's makeup was not to look ugly, it was to look more like the character she was portraying, (and it wasn't really ugly anyway).

As for Julianne Moore,

The real Virginia Woolf didn't have nearly as wonky a nose. Steve Carrell just got in on that "Gonzo nose = Oscar" action with Foxcatcher.

50s suburbia is considered the complete antithesis of feminism. In fact, feminism itself rose as a REACTION to the 50s suburban gender roles. So yeah, I doubt this unsatisfied woman being a 50s housewife was an accident. And I disagree that it wasn't a positive light. I can post an argument why, but the wiki description already did that for me:

Mess, it's not good when the fans think a character that's supposed to be promoting feminism is portrayed in a negative light. Talk about fucking up a major character's storyline :dead: Assuming she is meant to be portrayed positively.... But omg if she was fail :skull:

A lot of times they would just argue things to argue, ie that entire Carrie thread.
