Loosely based upon the story by Hans Christian Andersen. Ariel, youngest daughter of King Triton, is dissatisfied with life in the sea. She longs to be with the humans above the surface, and is often caught in arguments with her father over those "barbaric fish-eaters". She goes to meet Ursula, the Sea Witch, to strike a deal, but Ursula has bigger plans for this mermaid and her father.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie! Its my favorite cartoon/disney film of all time.

So hello from the other side
I must've called a thousand times
To tell you I'm sorry, for everything that I've done
But when I call you never seem to be home

I'm still not getting any homosexual undertones from Ariel/Eric. Disney princesses ALWAYS like something that makes them an outsider, ie Belle and books or Pocahontas and white dudes.

In any case, the leg stuff never bothered me. Just her and Eric's complete lack of chemistry and relationship based on the depth of his looks and her voice. And yes, hate Ursula. And Under The Sea is annoying.

I never really got gay undertones from that either. Though I also don't get homophobic undertones from Ursula.

Part of Your World >>>>> Under the Sea. :legend:
I do agree that Eric/Ariel needed more depth to their relationship, though that's more of an issue with the original story it came from rather than the movie itself. So if you want to blame anyone for that, blame Hans Christian Andersen (It's actually worse, because I don't believe Ariel even has the longing to be human stuff, she purely goes human to date a hot guy who more or less treats her like crap, from memory. Then he picks some random girl over her and she's forced to kill him or kill herself. She kills herself :rip: Ursula also isn't antagonistic in it, she's just a sea witch who turns Ariel human and that's more or less it)

Since when do Disney movies follow the original story? The real Pocahontas and John Smith never even had a relationship (probably because she was 12 and he was old and grizzly). You even made my argument for me by citing all the things this changed from the source yourself. I'll stick to blaming the weak script.

This movie is amazing and I will always think so. As for Eric/Ariel, their relationship had typical depth for a Disney princess movie.
