As for Eric/Ariel, their relationship had typical depth for a Disney princess movie.
Except Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Tangled, Frozen, Princess and the Frog... :umwhat:

There are certain rules one must abide by to successfully survive a horror movie
I think the movie was more focused on Ariel deciding whether or not to be a mermaid/human rather than the love story.
