A young couple find themselves in an unnerving situation with a mysterious stalker.

Honestly not sure I'd have bothered with this if I'd realized it was Found Footage before starting, if only because I fucking hate the genre. Must be said.
Anyways, I did have to immediately give this props for avoiding two of the WORST found footage cliches out there. Firstly, it doesn't even pretend it's a real story like so many do, which almost always causes their downfall. Secondly, it completely avoids the "WHY are they filming?!?" problem by having the stalker be the one shooting the footage (Something I'm amazed hasn't happened more often. I mean, let's be real. That's seriously one of the most basic concepts out there and it wouldn't cost a whole lot) This does kinda backfire though, if only because the stalker is practically omnipotent. (S)he's managed to install no less than THREE speakers in the protagonists car, several at his work place, and dozens throughout his house without him or his wife noticing. Hell, I think there's even a hidden camera in his stereo. Guys, if you're doing a found footage, you DON'T need to show everything (the work stuff is practically pointless) and you really don't need 800 hidden cameras. It just makes the audience wonder why the movie is even found footage

Anyways, onto the film itself. It's basically a one man show, and thankfully Nick Stahl carried himself fairly well. Movie itself feels kinda like Paranormal Activity (just replace the ghost with an unseen, omniscient, omnipotent stalker), though I'd say it's superior to that, if only because there is SOME stuff going on (though it's not incredibly engaging) before the finale, the fact I didn't hate James (die Micah and Katie. Die horrible, painful deaths), and the fact the killer's identity did take me by surprise (totally expected it to go in one direction. It didn't) I didn't love it tho, but if you like FF this might be more up your ally than mine. At the very least I didn't hate it

found footage.. nope..

in the past year or two. There has been 2 genres I've come to really dislike.

Anthologies and Found Footage.. Even worse, when I saw a few movies combining the two. -.-

It's nice to see someone do something new with found footage for once. May check this out based on your review.

I honestly wouldn't really recommend it. It had SOME interesting ideas but it was still kinda slow and not exactly great. There's way better movies and shows to see :legend:
