Simon and Robyn are a young married couple whose life is going just as planned until a chance encounter with an acquaintance of Simon’s from high school sends their world into a tailspin. Simon doesn’t recognize Gordo at first, but after a series of uninvited encounters and mysterious gifts prove troubling, a terrible secret from their past is uncovered. As Robyn learns the truth about what happened between Simon and Gordo, she begins questioning how well she really knows her husband.

Early reviews are really good and I am intrigued by whether Joel Edgarton's directorial debut is a success. I am also in the mood for more creepy weirdo movies after watching Creep and this was originally called Weirdo, so I'm hoping it's good.

The trailers were a meh factory, but then the reviews started to compare it to things like Cache. Needless to say, really want to see it now.

Well this is out. I guess it belongs in psychological based on reviews.

As someone who's been waiting a while now for a good, adult thriller, this was a godsend. Don't trust the trailer -- this is not a horror movie, even though it's advertised as coming from "the producer of Insidious". I can't spoil what actually happens, but this was just an incredible movie with very few flaws, and a great directing debut for Joel Edgerton.

My full review is here.

I made a page for this in the upcoming horror section assuming it was because the trailers kept mentioning Insidious/Purge. I'm not surprised by how good it is because the reviews were great.

Just "saw" this (I was late so I had to sit in the front row on the far right). Besides the absolutely shitty viewing experience, this was really good. Brilliant ending. Jason Bateman should win an award for most hatable character since Mrs. Carmody from The Mist.
Also moved this to psychological. My general rule is if a movie has more than one jump scare, it's horror.

Mine is basically if it's trying to scare the audience on a regular basis it's horror, or if it features a lot of horror tropes it prooooooobably qualifies. Though I try to be a little more inclusive on here in general

Kinda need to see this now

Well, I can recall two -- the shower dream sequence and the dog at the door. So yeah, I can see this going here.

And yeah, Simon was one of the most raging assholes I've ever seen in a horror movie. As equally despicable as Gordo could be, I was actually rooting for him when he humiliated Simon at the end.

Both scared the piss out of my audience. This is really worth seeing with a crowd.

Anyways, this was really good. And I'm with you guys on Simon. That guy was a complete sociopath, and he didn't remotely care one bit as long as he had the lifestyle he wanted. Totally lothesome. I also liked how unpredictable it was; I was half expecting some kind of explosive, violent finale or something along those lines. What we got was way better and way less predictable. And in general the film's direction wasn't all that obvious, which is always nice.

And yeah, the dog jump scare was really good. Shower one didn't get me so much; it had the surprise, but there wasn't enough tension built up on me for a big reaction (it totally got my dad though)
