It's not a remake....
It STARTED as one but evolved into an original, stand alone film. Quite good too <3 I loved Gideon Emery's character (Willy, right?)

they did a terrible job on NOES remake, Freddy looked horrid and wasn't even scary, and i didn't really like the way his voice sounded either.

Yeah, the ANOES remake really wasn't very good. Especially once the first 40 minutes ended IMO

Still, I'm all for giving them a chance

I used to have this thing where I wouldn't even give remakes a chance, nothing stands up to the originals, etc. Then I watched a few more, and much to my pleasant surprise, there are some I do like lol.

I still stand by my opinion that most originals are better than their remake counterparts though.

So I don't sound too much like Randy, I will gladly say that some sequels do surpass the first instalment.

I'm almost always skeptical of them, especially if they're of my favorite movies. I usually don't mind though as long as they try though. But those soulless cash-ins like the Nightmare remake? Hate those

I'd rather a remake take a risk that doesn't pay off then just try to cash in

I dont mind remakes as long as they are good, tbh. A good movie's a good movie.

i mean why make a bad remake especially with movies such as Carrie and The Evil Dead, most people have already seen the original, so they are going to be expecting alot from it, so why leave out important factors to make the remake good and worth seeing.

Some can be fun, but Platinum Dunes needs to stop making them

I don't mind the idea of remaking things, it's just that most remakes happen to suck. The two most common problems they have are either a) they're lazy, don't expand on the material, and just give you the same stuff over again (Psycho, ANOES), or b) they're different in all the wrong ways and miss what made the original good in the first place (Halloween, Black Christmas).

The only time I'm against a remake is if I'd rather have a sequel. For example, I'd rather there be a Evil Dead 4 with Bruce Campbell coming out than some gritty reboot.
