Not another peep.
Are they pointless or necessary?

It depends on the movie and scene.

In a slasher, I am almost always for nudity. It's a part of the formula and makes the film feel complete. Is it truly needed? No. Does it add to the film? Definitely.
In paranormal movies and such I'm a bit less pushy for it. Since, for example, it'd be strange to see nudity in PA.

Also, there's some movies where nudity IS necessary to the film
ANOES Orig (Bathtub scene)
The Shining (Bathroom scene)
Carrie (Shower scene)
LHOTL (Far too many scenes to name)

I do think it'd be good to have more male nudity though, not necessarily full frontal, but maybe a butt or something? Balance it out some lol

I agree it depends on the film and that's what I said in a debate I had with a friend about this. And yes we do need more male nudity in horror movies, like if it's done right. (For example V/H/S.)

Male Nudity is seriously needed more. It's weird. Male nudity has become this "taboo" thing, yet female's being nude in films is completely normal. I think it's mostly that female nudity was more marketale at one point, but times have changed and men are more sexualised then they were before.

I think they should have as much nudity for males as they do for females. It bugs me when there is a sex scene for instance, and it shows a TON of female nudity, but then just the chest of the male for instance. Sure, nudity isnt 100% necessary in that case, but it's annoying to see a guy cover himself up before standing up and leaving the bed for who knows what, but when a female does it, they stay nude.

Just look at Halloween, Bob got fully dressed when he got out of bed, but Lynda only put on a shirt (her breasts were fully visible). I feel like if the roles were reversed, Lynda would just wear exactly what she did when she went to the phone, to go get a beer. I highly doubt she'd get as dressed as Bob xD

#random rant

But yes. Nudity is sometimes necessary. It's like blood, I don't want them intentionally toning it down to make it pg13. Especially when it takes away from the realism of the film.

So hello from the other side
I must've called a thousand times
To tell you I'm sorry, for everything that I've done
But when I call you never seem to be home

That's because most horror movies are written by straight males for straight males.
Simple as that.

That's true, but I think things ARE changing lol.

I know I for one, write as much nudity for girl's as guys in my scripts, and I'm gay so... idk. I just want the films to be realistic and not hide nudity just for the sake of hiding it, even if it's not realistic.
