Seized by the government and converted into a military mental hospital during World War II, the sudden arrival of disturbed soldiers to Eel Marsh Harsh has awoken its darkest inhabitant. Eve, a beautiful young nurse, is sent to the house to care for the patients but soon realizes she must save them from more than their own demons. Despite Eve’s efforts to stop her, one by one they fall victim to the Woman in Black.

this is a sequel to the 2011 remake, sounds interesting, its said that Daniel Radcliffe may be appearing as a cameo in this. its in pre-production

I saw it today to ring in the first week of the new year, if that counts.

Short review: eh, at least it was better than Annabelle. For a January flick, I wasn't expecting much, and "not much" is what I got. The pilot Harry was probably the most interesting character in the film, but I got the distinct impression that his role was heavily edited down from the original script. As for the rest, it's your usual jump scares mixed with creepy children. It's cliched to the point of creating plot holes, and while it occasionally managed to build dread and tension, it kept losing it and telegraphing the scares. At this point, I am just about done with supernatural horror -- and going by this film's box office (it's currently doing worse than Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones), I think the genre peaked last year.

My full review is here.

That settles it. Wasn't gonna bother, now I'm REALLY not gonna bother. I don't understand why they made a sequel to 1 anyways, it was pretty bad and I had no idea it was successful enough for one

I am still interested but feel like picking up The Guest on DVD instead and waiting to redbox this. But the 15 million it made was still better than the 10 million everyone estimated.

The original made decent change in the US and slightly better change overseas, adding up to over $125 million. Given that its budget was around $15 million, that's not too shabby.

Oh, and in case anybody's wondering: there was no Daniel Radcliffe cameo. I thought I saw him at one point, but it turned out to be someone else, and to be honest, it probably would've made more sense if it was Radcliffe's character.
Spoiler: click to toggle
It did, however, have the guy who played the main character in the old British TV adaptation of the original book (which the last movie was also based on). Here, he plays the bus driver who takes the characters to the house.

It's still the beginning of the year & there's more Supernatural films yet to come. 2014 may have been the peak but there will be more successful supernatural horror this year.

So hello from the other side
I must've called a thousand times
To tell you I'm sorry, for everything that I've done
But when I call you never seem to be home
