An offbeat horror tale about a group of five college friends on vacation at a remote mountain cabin when one contracts a flesh-eating virus. As it spreads among the friends, their true feelings and personalities emerge as they struggle to survive the virus and each other.

This was so awesome! I didn't have the highest expectations going in, but it was an absolute blast. Very good horror/comedy mix with some really, REALLY good (And nasty!!!!) gore effects O_O Eli Roth <3 His movies are almost always awesome.

I "liked" the 5 main characters too :) (I use like loosely in reference to some.... who were more entertaining than sympathetic) That said, the standouts were easily the two girls, Karen (Innocent Virginal type played by Jordan Ladd) and Marcy (the bad girl played by the lovely Cerina Vincent)! Not only do I love both actresses a lot, but their characters were easily the most likeable and sympathetic in the film, with my favorite being Karen! She was so sweet <3 As far as the death order goes, I definitely found it somewhat surprising. I really didn't

So yeah, a solid 8/10 and definitely recommended :)
The sequel never happened though.

I don't know if anybody knows this but, Eli got his idea for Cabin Fever when he was in Iceland and contracted a case of a flesh-eating disease. The shaving-legs scene in the bathtub is based on when Roth shaved his face and layers of skin came off while having the disease.

Same. Eek, Poor Eli!

I like the gore and disturbing scenes in this. Didn't like the characters but the acting was decent. 6/10 probably.

Apparently, he suffers from psoriasis, a genetic, non-contagious skin disorder which can have crippling effects. When Roth suffered his first attack at age 22, his skin was cracked and bleeding so badly that he could not walk or wear clothes.

Also, when he made Cabin Fever, he didn't have much money to pay the cast/crew. So when the film was released he shared nearly all the profits with said cast/crew.
