Because the entire movie was an urban legend. The massacre happened, and that character was the killer, but the details (like that death) were changed as the story got told to people. Plus Spoiler: click to toggle

It depends. I do like human a lot though, because it has a sense of actual hope for the characters. Supernatural usually means they all die, or maybe one survivor.
