Jersey boy for life!
It was fun and funny, and it helped that I was seeing it with two people (my dad and his girlfriend) who both loved it, but I don't see where the 93% Tomatometer came from. The best parts were the acting, the style, and the atmosphere; David O. Russell absolutely nailed the '70s. When it came to the story, though, it was kind of forgettable. This was a step down from Silver Linings Playbook, and not something I'd ever consider putting in my Top 10 for the year. It might get an honorable mention, but when you compare it to something like The Wolf of Wall Street, it just doesn't stack up.

Well to be fair, the only reason it has 93% is how Rotten Tomatoes works. All it means is 93% of critics liked it :shrug: I love RT for a glance to see if a movie's been praised/is good but it's not exactly saying "it's a 9.3/10 movie.

I think the story is fantastic, but it took a little long to get to the point, and that made the movie suffer. The movie was too long.
I loved it though, make no mistake.

The best parts were the acting, the style, and the atmosphere;
I thought those were the worst things. It was like watching a school play trying to do Goodfellas.

As much as I like Lawrence, Lupita Nyong'o should have won. Hopefully she wins the Oscar.

This pretty much sums it up for me. It failed to leave much of an impression but I think the main reason I didn't enjoy it as much might be down to my expectations being high.

Finally someone who has said this with any actual merit (you know... based on their acting). I swear if I see another person calling the Golden Globes racist for not giving Lupita the award (and ironically most of the posts know Jennifer's name, but refer to Lupita as "the black girl", which i find more racist if anything). If anything, Jennifer won due to her being "America's Sweetheart" and a favorite of critics at the moment (which she admittedly deserves).

I've noticed a pattern in these awards where if someone is hugely popular by both the masses and critics, for a while they can essentially do no wrong. The same thing happened with Adele. :shrug: But it definitely doesn't have to do with racism.

Both Jennifer and Lupita were fantastic. The thing I think Jennifer had that really sold her performance was she took every scene that she was in and stole it, utilizing ALL of her ability. Lupita was so moving as Patsy, but I feel she didn't utilize herself, or at least didn't have the opportunity to display her full abilities.

At this point, I actually hope Jennifer wins the oscar, because it would make her the youngest actress to win a consecutive second Oscar.

I've yet to see the movie, but from the trailer Jenn was astounding. Possibly even better than in Silver Linings Playbook (though again I need to see the full film)> I don't know about Lupita, but I'm sure she's fantastic as well.
Also at this point, people need to get over it. It's the GOLDEN GLOBES, sure it's still an accomplishment- but it's not exactly the Oscars.

I wouldn't knock Lupita for not chewing scenes as a sullen slave; Jennifer had a flashier character. What I know is that Lupita gave a heartbreaking performance, and the

is probably the best acting of the year.

I wasn't really sold on Jennifer until late in the film, mainly the cafe scene or wherever they were. Before that it felt kind of like an impression of Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny. Let's just agree that Bradley Cooper should NOT be nominated.

As for GG's reasons, I haven't heard the "racist" argument, but it'd be a pretty stupid accusation since three of the last ten supporting actress winners have been black.

It's all over tumblr/internet :shrug: People are saying Jennifer didn't deserve it and only got it cause she was white. Stupid indeed, but that's just the internet.
