The grey doors of the library push open with a stomach-wrenching screech, casting brilliant light into the dreary confines. Slowly, a young woman tiptoes inside, pulling her violet shawl tighter. She is simply clad in a blue shirt and matching, knee-length skirt. "Hello? Is anyone here?" |

Kursten busies himself sorting books, there's a lot of work to be done. The library is a multi-story building, so at the very least, returns need to be set aside between those that remain on the first floor, and those that need to go up. He was so engrossed in his work, that he almost missed the sound of someone entering the library. Haphazardly moving away from his work and making no small amount of noise in the process as he attempts to traverse stacked books, he walks over to the new arrival. Despite his embarrassment, he grins. "Yes, is there anything I can do to help?" |

"Oh, yes." Aurora steps up to the librarian, hand digging in her pocket. "I was told that someone with knowledge about artifacts and the like worked here. Would I happen to be speaking with him?" |

Kursten lights up. "Yes, that is me! Are you looking for something, or do you have something you'd like me to explain?" The man looks from side to side, making sure that there's no one else likely to need his assistance. "Please, follow me into the office, I'm sure you'd like to sit down." |

"Oh! Yes, sir." Aurora falls into step behind him. Finally, someone who could explain what this strange crystal was. "I just have a few questions about something I found a few days ago, if that's not a problem." |

Kursten opens the door to the office, and nods. "Of course, of course. That's what I'm here for!" Looking to the side, he grins as he sees that someone had set some tea boiling. "Here, I'll get you something to drink." Making sure a new teapot was put up, he brings back the set to the table. "Now, do you mind letting me see it? You do have it with you, right?" |

"Yes, of course." Aurora takes a seat and digs into her pocket. She produces a large amethyst crystal, the size of Kursten's fist. Its violet hue was unnaturally vivid, and as she set it down on the table, it cast a light glow on the wood. "I can feel a strong magical resonance from this crystal, which makes me think it's part of an artifact or relic of some sort." |

"..Wow..." Kursten says, picking up the gemstone. The size alone was impressive, but trained as he was, the magical potential in the stone was staggering. "No kidding, this thing has enough power locked in it to blow the library down to the foundation. It might be a power source that was used by the Gods way back when...those come up every now and then, but not usually on this scale..." Setting the gem back down, he looks up at Aurora. "Where did you find this?" |

"In a ruin outside of the city. I'm a student at the Magi Academy, and my professor took my class out to the ruin for a lesson over the weekend. I saw the crystal protruding from underground, and I dug it up." |

Kursten breaks into laughter. "The academy, huh? No kidding? I'm kinda curious how that works out...my family made it a point to teach me themselves. Maybe sometime later I'll go, see what they teach differently." Shaking his head, the librarian whistles. "Wow, you're really lucky, you know? Any museum worth their salt would kill to have a find like this. A power source of that size, and it still functions? That's an incredibly rare find." Clearing his throat, he continues speaking. "While I would say that something like that belongs in a museum, it'd also be an incredibly helpful focal point for casting and powering spells, so I can see why you'd rather hold on to it. Have you done any experiments onto it's direct function? Power sources like this usually have an elemental affinity, it makes the transfer of power into the environment much more efficient." Kursten pulls out a similar looking crystal, but one no larger than a rather small and shriveled pea. With a motion, a jet of flame bursts out, much larger than the tiny crystal would belie. "This one transmits energy through fire, for example." Realizing just how redundant his statement was, he rubs the back of his neck. "Aha..ha..yeah." |
