Cassidy looks down at the chasm before her, suppressing a gulp. She's done some impressive shit in her time, but this might just take the cake. Still, her hesitation is only momentary as she jumps down, pulling out a wind gem as she does so. Channeling magical energy through the gemstone, she uses it's power to push her further than her jump could take her, landing her clear on the other side. That accomplished, she pushes on forward, when the floor suddenly turns slippery and she has to claw the ground in order to avoid an uncontrollable fall. "Well darn. I think I almost broke a nail there." She says to herself sarcastically, before looking at the new obstacle. Seeing another pit, she looks up, and sees an old, broken-down scaffolding. "Well, sure was convenient of whoever lived down here to leave these up." With a kick, she pushes off, grabbing a hold of a pole jutting out from the wall, and pulls herself up. Ascending up the scaffolding, she quickly scampers across it, barely trusting the old material with her weight for a moment. None of this was new to her, exploring ruins was an integral part of her life. Not quite as integral as sneaking around mansions, but both tended to put food on the table. Still, as she triggered a dart trap that was in her way, she wondered about just what was going to be down here. The rumors alone were tempting, but when it came from a more verified source..well, how could she refuse? As she rounded the corner, she found herself in a large antechamber, with a giant, ceremonial stone door in front of her. She's seen several of them before in other relic boundaries, and typically it housed an item the gods themselves would view as a treasure behind them. Grinning, she looks around, trying to find what would likely serve as an opening mechanism in the chamber. Tracing her hand over the side of the door, she feels some indentations. Looking at them from a distance, it's clear that there are things to be inserted in them in order to open them. "A key, huh? Well, that's inconvenient." When she looks at it from a greater distance, she sees that a map is overlaid in the world, and each indentation has been marked to a specific ruin. "Hah! I've been to all these places!" Looking inside her little utility belt, she tries to sort the gemstones to see which ones came from what. "Hrm....I got this wind gem from that ruin in Africa..." Placing the gem in the indentation, the stone glows bright. "Hah! I was right!" With that, she begins matching stones to slots, filling out all five. And with that, the stone door begins opening. Her awe at the situation was so much that it took her a moment to go about retrieving her stones. |

As the door rumble open, revealing a plethora of shimmering crystals behind it, something else stirs. The grinding of stone on stone perks the ears of a being of immense power resting behind the door. However, the gems around him keep him bound, unable to move. But should just one be removed. He hopes that whoever had breached his prison would just mistake him for a statue, his first conscious thought in centuries. |

As she fumbles with replacing her gemstones, she looks into the now-open room, and her mouth begins to water. It was a treasure trove beyond her imagination, an incredible number of individual, glimmering jewels, many of them larger than most in her collection. She all but flew into the room, inspecting them. "Thank goodness I brought a sack! Hah, when those stooges at the academy get a load of what I can do with this, the bastards will be begging me to join with them!" Looking to the center, she sees an odd statue, arrayed in the center as if a king on a throne. Walking up to it, she knocks it on the head a bit. "Well, aren't you the big, imposing one! I hope you weren't too attached to any of these little beauties!" With that, she gleefully begins throwing jewels into a sack, before the feeling of a spell coming undone strikes her senses. "Huh? Some kind of trap?" |

Perses' eyes open, stone rigidity still in his face. His massive arms strain against invisible bonds, but the single removed seal crystal is enough for him. With a grunt, a sound not unlike the door's grinding opening, he succeeds in pulling his arms up from the throne's armrests. The seal shatters in its entirety, and he rises to his feet, hunching forward so his knuckles drag on the ground. He stares down at Cassidy, towering over her small frame. "Mortal. What year is it?" |

Turning around, Cassidy gives an eep. The statue that had formerly sat in the chair was now standing before her, asking her a question. Was this statue some kind of guard golem? She'd never heard of any of them talking before... "Uhh...652." She says, seeing no reason not to tell that thing the truth. "Um...what've you been up to down here, big guy?" As she speaks, she slowly walks around the perimeter of the room, every instinct in her head yelling at her to get the hell out of here as fast as possible. |

"6...52?" Perses stares at her quizzically, trying to make sense of the number. He had slumbered for so long... so a major shakeup of society was not out of the question. "I was sealed here some time ago. Societal upheaval occurred 652 years ago? Tell me, mortal. For even time to be defined anew, some calamity must have shaken the old order. What was it?" |

Cassidy looked up at him. "Well, guess you aint exactly the talkative type." Biting her tongue to keep herself from saying more stupid things, she shook her head. "Not that there's a problem with that, big guy." When he asked her about the new time scale, she shrugs. "I didn't exactly pay much attention in any kind of history lesson, but that's after the Exodus, when the gods decided they wanted to take a hike." Looking up at him, she ventures another question. "You related to them, big guy? You certainly seem, uh..magnificent enough for it.." |

"I am the avatar of Perses, the Titan of Destruction." Perses closes his eyes, and a deep rumble of a sigh grinds from out of his throat. "So my brethren have forsaken this world, then." When his eyes open, they carry a hard glare at Cassidy. "And what do you intend to do with our crystals?" |

...Shit. "Ehehehe..." Titan of destruction? The fucking hell was something like that doing here? This was supposed to be a treasure trove, not a prison! When he asks about the crystals, she freezes. "Umm...is there a problem? I mean, you weren't using them...and they are pretty shiny..." Just a few more inches and she'd be able to run off back into the chasm...just a few more inches, just have to keep him talking... |

"Those crystals are not for the use of your kind, mortal. They are primeval sources of power; they would be the undoing of humanity." Perses extends a giant palm her way, a demand to place her stolen items in it. "Return them, if you will." |
