Kursten walked down the street, work concluded. The library wasn't particularly busy, it rarely was, but there were a few students that came by that needed his particular specialization. They usually went away wondering what someone with his knowledge was doing in a mere library, but he just did the usual, shrug and say "Who knows?" Sometimes they took it as some great mystery, but in reality it was just something that paid the bills as he worked. His work on the Book was proceeding smoothly. He was understanding more and more of the archaic text each day, which was pretty good for a language that just seemed to be completely nonexistent anywhere else. In all his research, he hasn't found a single tome with similar script, let alone a translated piece. Still, he was tired, and he'd worked enough for one day. When he went to cross the street, a car zoomed past the crosswalk, hitting him square in the body at high speed. Drystan bounced, flying into the air, and landing down a good ten feet away, blood trailing at his feet. Needless to say, the car zoomed away, hoping to outrun any police that might be called for him. At that speed, no one could survive...at least no one normal. "Well...that ruined my day..." Kursten murmurs to himself. |

Kursten shrugs. "Most people don't really care whether they're sucky or not, they just do what is easiest for them. At least, that's what I was told. Still, I'm glad you're not a sucky person, you and your family are really nice people!" Hearing her applaud his house, he grins. "It's not that amazing. It's pretty impressive outside, but inside it's actually kind of bare bones. My folks are really big on utilitarianism, while they have the space, they don't like using it unless it's for a purpose. So a lot of it just gets kind of wasted. Kursten grins at her confirmation. "Yep, sounds great! And you've been a real help...getting another lead of research to pursue, and someone to help with both? That's amazing! And I even get ice cream with it!" Following behind her down the stair, he frowns. "You're sure Tru and your father won't mind this?" |

"Good architecture is still really nice though. Maybe free space just gives more chance to appreciate the actual building, instead of just the furniture? Rich furniture is just gaudy anyway!" She shrugged. That was important. What was important was tasty, tasty ice-cream. So she skipped ahead down the stairs. "Well, I buy the ice-cream myself. I suppose they can be bothered by me giving away my stuff, but at the end of the day, I do own it, so I can do what I like with it. And what I'd like to do with it if give it to someone that I like!" She thought about that. "...or I can have ice-cream and reading marathons. I like doing that too." Hmm. Maybe it'd be nifty to combine the two! When they got downstairs, Destiny skipped past the kitchen and into a small utility room that had a second freezer in it. She lifted the lid, pulled out three 2 litre cartons of ice-cream, each a different flavour, and took them to the now empty kitchen, where she sat them down on the table. "Could you get the bowls from the cupboard?" she asked while fishing the scoop out of a drawer and being happy that she remembered this time. Edited by SarahSyna, Mar 28 2014, 08:10 PM.

Kursten laughs. "Well, I'll leave that decision up to you, when I eventually show you just what it looks like. Which will happen, I won't let you worm your way out of it! You hear me?" He calls down, shaking his fist jokingly at her. He looks at the giant tubs of ice cream with wonder. "Wow...you sure get a lot of it! That's awesome!" When she says indirectly that she likes him, he smiles. "Thanks! I'm glad you like me enough to share ice cream with me." At the thought of reading marathons, he shrugs. "That sounds like fun, I'm generally used to long reading sessions. If you're doing one, maybe I could come over! Always good to have someone to share the time with." When she asks him to pull bowls out of the cupboard, he hops to it. "That cupboard, right?" he asks, as he opens it and sees bowls for himself. "Hah, silly question." Taking out two of them, he sets them down at the table. "Anything else I could do to help?" |

"I promise I won't try wiggle out of it. I'd even wear a nice dress or something, if I had one!" She took the bowls from him with a smile and put two hefty minty scoops, along with an even bigger strawberry one, into his bowl, and one of each flavour into her own. She passed it back to him, along with a big spoon. "We could have reading competitions, which you'll probably win, and ooooh! Maybe a bookclub! Okay, a book couple since there's only two of us, but still!" Tru stuck her head around the archway frame. "You two done fucking already?" she asked, which was followed by a delighted "Ooh, ice-cream." |

He grins. "Wow, that sounds really nice. I think a nice dress would suit you, actually. Maybe if I get access to the family's money again, I can get you a gift or something! You really should have something nice to wear." Taking the bowl, he spoons out a scoop of ice cream and lets out a happy hum. "This is really good! Thank you!" He laughs along with Destiny as she talks about reading together. "I dunno...reading competitions seem really silly. And maybe a bit boring, since you don't get to enjoy or work with the book. I think a club could be really fun, though!" He nearly drops his bowl as Tru pops in, her words causing his eyes to go wide. "What? No! Wait, I mean...err, yes? No, that doesn't work either!" His face would be absolutely glowing red if his book didn't sap the pallor from his skin, so now it just looks a bit pink. |

Destiny tried to imagine herself in something that couldn't be described as 'secondhand reject' or 'labcoat and failed. The last time she'd been well-dressed, someone had died on her. "Maybe we could do chapter by chapter discussions or something? Or, we'[ll think of something fun when the time co-dammit, Tru!" "What? I was just asking a question. Did you have fun?" her sister asked with a big cheeky grin as she fetched ice-cream for herself, the same flavour combo as Destiny had. Destiny stuck out her tongue at her. "We didn't do anything, so be nice." "I think implying he's got enough slickness to get banged on the first meeting is pretty nice of me." "Tru!" Destiny said in scandalised tones, though she couldn't help but laugh a little. "Really, stop. He's going to end up swallowing his own tongue at this rate." |

Kursten calms down enough to stop almost swallowing his tongue before Destiny mentions it, and he grows a bit more pink. "Well...you don't need to imply that. I'm not slick, there's no need to flatter me or anything..." Eating ice cream and trying very hard not to let Tru get to him, and failing utterly, he shakes his head. "Why did you even come up with that? I don't think I did anything suggestive...urgh." |

"You haven't. I'm just reading stuff into where there is none. ...unless there is." Destiny got to her feet, took Tru's full spoon from her and jammed it into her sister's mouth. "She's just trying to make you blush, Kursten. She's being silly, that's all." she said chirpily. "She's got no good hobbies." Tru nodded, making muffled noises around the ice-cream and metal in her gob. |

Kursten sighs, eating another scoop of ice cream. "I wish she wasn't so good at it..." He can't help but laugh as Tru gets a spoon in the face. "You have a great mind for solving problems, Destiny!" Turning to Tru, he crosses his arms, looking very cross. "You really should have some better hobbies than that! Getting all your fun from embarrassing other people seems really...immature." |

Tru pulled the spoon out with a small pop and aimed it at Kursten. "Hey, I'm well mature. I don't act like this at work, you know, just when relaxing." "Really? Because I met one of the other guards, and he said that yo-" "Kirschtorte is a total liar and don't you listen to a word he says, that goose was dead before I even got there." Destiny tilted her head, obviously confused. "What goose?" Tru looked down at Destiny, then decided to very obviously not answered by turning towards Kursten and changing the subject. "Come on, you don't act a little different off work?" |
