Kursten walked down the street, work concluded. The library wasn't particularly busy, it rarely was, but there were a few students that came by that needed his particular specialization. They usually went away wondering what someone with his knowledge was doing in a mere library, but he just did the usual, shrug and say "Who knows?" Sometimes they took it as some great mystery, but in reality it was just something that paid the bills as he worked. His work on the Book was proceeding smoothly. He was understanding more and more of the archaic text each day, which was pretty good for a language that just seemed to be completely nonexistent anywhere else. In all his research, he hasn't found a single tome with similar script, let alone a translated piece. Still, he was tired, and he'd worked enough for one day. When he went to cross the street, a car zoomed past the crosswalk, hitting him square in the body at high speed. Drystan bounced, flying into the air, and landing down a good ten feet away, blood trailing at his feet. Needless to say, the car zoomed away, hoping to outrun any police that might be called for him. At that speed, no one could survive...at least no one normal. "Well...that ruined my day..." Kursten murmurs to himself. |

Kursten nods. "I'd be happy to talk about it. I doubt my family would want me to give away any secrets...but I'm the one who's finding out about this book, it's my knowledge. I'd be happy to share it with you." He understood that she was joking, and laughed. "Hah! I imagine you would be." He raises his hands, shaking his head. "Oh no, that's way too much work...there's the photos, the discs..I couldn't ask you to do all that. But you can have my address anyway." He begins scribbling on a new piece of his notepaper, which he tears off and hands to her. When she offers to let him just come over and look at the originals, though, he grins. "As long as the door is open, and you've got time." He's amazed how quickly a total stranger turned into his friend. "These kinds of things are better talked about face to face anyway. Less likely for eavesdropping and the like...and your opinions on the information are very important for the research!" |

Destiny took the slip of paper and read it twice before then getting to her feet, noticeably slumping to one side as she stood. She stuck the paper to the wall decorated with pictures with a little tack and and scribbled 'Mr Tentacles/Kirsten's Address' over it in black pen, then surrounded it with explosion squiggles and a happy face. "There!" she said with satisfaction, turning back to Kursten. "Now I won't forget, unless I do forget but I probably won't because I'm not as forgetful as you'd think, which is great! And you can come over any time I'm off work, usually after 6PM. Sometimes I do work late but I'm usually here since dad doesn't want me to work nights with Ermen, and if you're here and I'm not, I'm sure dad and Tru will let you hang out until I come home and then we can talk and everything!" She couldn't help but bounce on her heels and squee a little. The idea of having a friend over was just fantastic, especially a friend like Kursten. "Oh gosh, it's going to be so much fun comparing notes and things with you! We can be like... study partners! And have really intellectual sleep overs! Oooh, maybe next time, we could have a friendly fight or something like that, so we'd get a better idea of what the other can do! How does that sound to you? Don't worry, I won't go crazy with the fire on you!" Edited by SarahSyna, Mar 9 2014, 09:22 PM.

Kursten repeats her words a few times in his head until he feels like he can follow what she meant, then nods. "Alrighty, hope you don't forget even though you shouldn't! I get off about that time too, so I should be fine. Sometimes I get out earlier, but in that case I'll just make myself dinner, I don't want to rely on hospitality too much, after all." The idea of visiting the house without Destiny there intimidates him a bit, he's gotten the impression that her father doesn't really like him, and while Tru seems cool enough, it could be a bit tricky. Destiny looks very happy, though, and he doesn't have the heart to turn her down. "But I'm happy to come over often, I usually don't have much going on at nights anyway, besides my own research, of course. And this counts as research...kinda...sorta...maybe?" He laughs as she describes their activities. "Gee, that sounds like a blast! I can't wait!" However, when she puts up an offer to spar, he shrinks back a little. "Gosh, I don't know...I've never really had to use the grimoire in a combat situation...I sure hope I don't end up hurting you..." |

"Even if it doesn't count as research now, we can totally figure out ways to make it count!" she said excitedly, already dreaming up ways of doing so. Chemistry was out of her area, but maybe they could dabble it together? Or history.... Biology was a must, obviously. Between her apparent open wounds to a hammerspace of fire and his extreme tentacleyness, a joint foray into biological matters just had to happen! it was practically inevitable for the sake of curiousity! "Great! I look forward to seeing you. You don't have to feel obligated though. I mean, folks can't be around folks all the time, and if you need peace, I wouldn't hold it against you!" She laughed good-naturedly as he looked worried about the fight. "I think we'll be fine as long you don't do anything a doctor can't fix." she said jokily. "I'm not so squishy!" To be fair, the right term would be snappable or something similar to that, rather than squishy. A word suited towards breaking twigs, in other words. |

"No reason not to try!" he agrees happily, he's glad she seems so enthusiastic. He was curious what ways they would try to look at their abilities. She was a doctor...perhaps a dissection of one of the tentacles he seemed to be able to manifest? It was all so new, and new ideas were entering his mind as her excitement proved infectious. Kursten shrugs. "I'll probably let you know if I need space, but I don't see that happening much soon. I mean, heck, just talking with you today has been a blast." Despite her words to the contrary, Kursten was still worried. "If you say so..." He probably should have been more afraid of the fact that he'd probably end up with fire in his face, but that was a very low concern on his mind. It helped that he'd probably deal with that about as effectively as he shrugged off the car crash. |

Had Destiny been a puppy, her tail would have been wagging hard enough to knock her right over onto the floor. She full-on glomped Kursten in her excitement, bouncing on one foot. Then she hopped back with a gasp. "Butterfucks! I just realised! You never got the spare change of clothes that dad laid out for you!" He'd been talking to her with a huge hole in his clothes the whole time! How had she not noticed that...? |

Kursten was taken aback, figuratively and literally. He was caught completely unawares by the glomp and ended up falling backwards, hitting the ground with a thud. "Uhh...huh?" he murmurs, trying to move his arms but finding them pinned by his sides. Fortunately, he wasn't held that way long. Unfortunately would normally be the correct word, but that just wasn't good for Kursten's blood pressure. "Oh...oh yeah! I ended up forgetting about it again...I just got caught up imagining what experiments or tests we could do. Heh..." He swings himself up to a sitting position, and begins to look around the room. "You know where the clothes are? I should probably take a shower...my current clothes are probably filthy from the asphalt. Oh shoot, they got all over your floor..." He was beginning to sound worried. He wondered if Destiny's father would let him vacuum. He didn't want to leave a mess on the floor, that wouldn't be right after all the hospitality he got. |

"I can lead you to them!" Destiny popped back up to her feet, totally unfazed by the sudden tumble to the floor with a young man and skipped out to the hallway, leaving the door open behind her. She skipped down the hall and rescued two towels from the cupboard at one end of it before heading to the other end, where a set of clothes were neatly folded on a small table outside the door. She put the towels down on them and patted them. "Don't worry about any mess, it's my turn to clean up anyway. Especially my room. Some of the pictures are all out of alignment, and it never hurts to have an impromptu bit of spring cleaning! You can use my soap, if you want! It's the one that smells like a flying watermelon at sunset. ...you'll understand when you try it." |

Following behind Destiny, he grins as he sees the clothes. "Thanks again, I really appreciate this. I'll just be a bit." With that, he enters the bathroom holding the large bundle of cloth, and gets to cleaning himself off from the violent confrontation he had with the road. The dirt mostly got on his clothes, so it went quick. He did, however, find that Destiny was curiously right. There really wasn't any other way to describe that soap..."Aside from maybe watermelon juice with a beachside breeze..." he mutters to himself. Still, he thought Destiny's was more imaginative than his. Toweling himself off, he tries on the new clothes. The pants are a bit small for him, and the sleeves are rather loose, but aside from that everything seemed to work. Exiting the bathroom, he heads back to Destiny's room, hoping that the ill fitting clothing didn't make him look foolish. Then again, it wasn't likely she cared. |

Destiny made a happy squeeing noise when Kursten returned to her room. She dropped the hoover she was using to vacuum the carpet and ran over to stretch up her arm and ruffle his hair. She just about made it too. "Oh, you look proper dashing!" she said with delight. "You know, you look a lot better when you're clean!" She punctuated this with another hug. |
