With a wide smile, Aurora stepped out of the library. At least she had some idea what the crystal was; very powerful and gravity based. She knew that technically she should bring it to some authority, but... this was too good a chance to do some research. And besides, if she did turn it in, it would probably just end up in some museum. Why waste its potential, when she could do something productive with this thing? In her distraction, she nearly bumped into another woman. At the last moment, she stopped and stepped back. "Oh. My apologies." |

Aurora nods, smiling. "Yes, that's partially what I want to research. To my knowledge, there are no gods in any pantheon associated with gravity. It wasn't even recognized as a concept until a few hundred years ago, well after the Exodus...." She shakes her head. "Oh. Apologies for rambling." |

Cassidy's eyes widen. If there was one thing she had to give to the Academy girl, she was polite. The student didn't even seemed phased when she insulted her. Probably some kind of nobility, someone who really didn't need or deserve to be carrying around a gemstone like that. The fact that she didn't really deserve it either was one she acknowledged but ignored, if she managed to steal it, she deserved it. That was how the business worked, and man did she work the business. "Rambling, huh? I thought you were just talking. Could've sworn I was the one who brought it up, unless I got that all wrong. You really should relax about that kind of stuff, you'll wind yourself up for nothing." Cassidy actually starts thinking about it for a bit, but shakes her head. She didn't need to care about that stuff. "Why do you care about that shit, anyway? It doesn't seem really relevant, does it? What's important is what that beauty can do, not what dead god it originally belonged to." Edited by Smitejr, Feb 19 2014, 05:58 PM.

Aurora shrugs. "I don't know. Maybe knowing will help me figure out more about it somehow." Straightening up, she bows her head lightly toward Cassidy. "Well, I should probably get going. My apologies, but I never caught your name." |

Cassidy shrugs, but inwardly her mind was ablaze. She couldn't let the girl get away now, not after that find was placed right in front of her. A snatch and grab was looking more and more like it was the best option... "Name's Cassidy. I'm sure you'll be remembering it...you little academy brat!" With those words, chosen to shock, she shoves Aurora backwards. As her arms instinctively come forward to balance herself, Aurora plucks the gemstone out of her grasp, then kicks her back the rest of the way. With the gemstone in her hand, she makes a break for it, running down a nearby alley. |

Aurora winces and grunts as she falls flat on her back. Well. Maybe she should have seen that coming. Not everyone would be as nice about a large, shiny, powerful gem as Kursten was. As Cassidy bolts for the alley, Aurora removes the shawl around her shoulders, imbues it with magic making it glow rainbow, and sends it snaking at the thief's anklels, to at least stall her. |

As Cassidy runs, she feels a tug on her feet. So, the girl knew some magic after all. As her feet were bound, she pulled out a wind gem, and activating the circuit, generated a concentrated slash of wind that cuts the shawl in half, freeing her. She was slowed down, but she could still get away. "Better luck next time, you little airhead!" She calls out behind her. She knew she wasn't out of it yet, but it was way too tough to resist the chance to dig into someone that naive. |

Aurora pulls her self to her feet, ready to give chase. She doubts she could catch a thief by foot, but what choice did she have but to try? And at any rate, as long as her magic remained in her cleaved shawl... With an incantation as she bolts, Aurora summons the cut shawl to rise up straight into Cassidy's face and give a light shock. |

Cassidy gives a small gasp as the shawl flies up to her face, and a louder one as it shocks her. Throwing the magic shawl away from her, she pulls out a fire gem and lights the blasted thing on fire. Hopefully the magic will be gone after that...she really didn't need a blazing cloth flying around her. Holding out the wind gem just in case, she grunts. "Damn girl doesn't know when to quit..." Seeing a fire escape on the side of a building, she quickly jumps up and begins climbing. Cassidy knows that no pampered academy student can keep up with her if she makes it up to the rooftops...at least not without some serious magic at her back. |

Aurora's eye twitches. First the stone, now the shawl? How dare this girl... Growling, she starts up the fire escape as well. She could use magic to collapse it entirely, at the cost of being dead on her feet for the next ever.... but that might kill the thief, which is not something she wanted no matter the transgressions Cassidy had wrought. And there was the matter of public damage. She closes her eyes, letting magic flow through her, and starts to climb at a rapid speed. The remnants of her shawl flick upward, trying to catch Cassidy's feet. Edited by Velvien, Feb 21 2014, 08:09 PM.

Cassidy groans as she feels magic go off behind her. Why can't this girl just accept that she got robbed already? It was just getting annoying by this point. Blowing aside the shawl one last time, as she looks back she sees the girl climb up faster than she could imagine was possible. If she didn't want to ever see her again, Cassidy would be impressed. Now though, she just wanted to be gone. Flipping herself up and over into the staircase, she started to run up the fire escape faster. If this girl wanted to fight, and she wasn't given a choice, she'd fight...but if she could start hopping rooftops away, that'd be her best bet. |
