The light bustle, the line of makeshift stands that could be torn down for transport at a moment's notice, the dark, out of the way alleys that were occupied... All was far too familiar to Albrecht Mannock. He knew, as an officially sanctioned airship pilot and innovator, he should never be stepping foot in the black market. But screw that. He had needs, too. Needs that couldn't met in a legal setting. If there was anything to damn Dr. Levy for, it was that. So, here he was, strolling through all manner of illegal wares, looking for whatever he could find to bolster his capabilities. As he walked, something caught his eye. An old machine that looked like a rotary device, a few crystals, a couple blades... Looked perfect. He walked up to the wares for a closer look. |

"Nah. Too much time in the air to bother really figuring out how rocks work. Got a primer in magic crystals, because they're pretty good for making sure my airships don't crash down on the city. Don't think my boss would be too happy about losing one of those things. And hey, if he's in the right mood, he might give a shit about the damage and casualties as well. Wouldn't bet on it, though." As Mannock speaks, he pulls out a small device and taps some keys. A small slip of paper prints from it; a check for $9960. He pulls it free of the device and hands it to Micah. "There y'all go."

"For someone that talks such a big talk," Micah thought, "Ya sure don't walk a big walk." By this point, he was getting tired of the cyborg's commentary on his employer. There was nothing in it he needed to know, and it was starting to sound like Mannock was puffing himself and his "boss" - whoever the Hell that was - up to make them seem more intimidating. The wolf in him chafed at this - you're on my territory, pup - and Micah was starting to agree. He looked at the check Mannock was holding out to him with a sneer. Raising an eyebrow as he looked back up at the cyborg's face, he said, "I'm hopin' that's a joke, Mac. A check? Y'all know what happens when I take that ta my banker and cash it? Th' bank and account number it's from get recorded in their system. I cash too many, and people start askin' questions that neither of us want to answer. Naw, put that away." Leaning back on his stool, he crossed his arms. His sneer deepened, revealing one oddly long and pointed canine tooth. "Y'all give me cash for it, ya got a deal. Else I'd suggest ya get yerself outta here." Edited by vicroc4, Apr 13 2014, 10:11 PM.

Mannock raises an eyebrow himself, although he draws the check back. "And there's a place out here I could make that kind of withdrawal? At least without having all of my account stuff eyeballed and stolen by some of the riffraff that frequent this place?" |

Micah snorts. Sarcasm drips from every word as he says, "Oh, sure, there's a bank just 'round th' corner." He shakes his head. "Hell no, y'all shoulda thought o' that afore ya came here. Key ta survival, ya know, bein' prepared." Chuckling, he looks Mannock over again. "Could always try ta work out somethin' else. Services rendered, barter, or y'all could just leave somethin' as collateral ta be paid back later." He laughs again, shaking his head, and continues, "'Course, there's no guarantee it'll still be here when ya do. I got a business ta run, ya know." Sneering again, he finishes, "Well, now, time's a-wastin'. What'll it be, hot-shot?" Edited by vicroc4, Apr 18 2014, 10:46 AM.

"...And this is why I usually use a proxy. Well, here." Mannock reaches into a uniform pocket, draws out a metallic winged badge, and lays it on the table. "My pilot's badge. That good enough collateral?"

Picking the badge up, Micah turns it over in his hand for a moment, examining it. Then he grins cruelly, and says, "That'll work, my friend. Little jewelry like this is worth a fortune with th' right people." He pockets the wings, then stands up and starts closing the stones in their cases. As he works, he says, "Normally, I'd guarantee ya can get 'em back if y'all pay in full by th' end o' next week, but I'll be generous 'cause ya spent so much - two weeks, I'll guarantee I'll still have 'em if ya pay in full. Two months before I start askin' where my money is." Extending a hand, he asks, "Whaddya say, we got a deal?" |

"A deal it is, and I'll get your money for ya tomorrow, if'n y'all will be available... curse your accent." Mannock shakes Micah's hand with an equally nasty smirk. "Oh, uh, and I got a tracker on the thing, by the way. Kinda a bit too important to let that go missing." |

"Sure, sure." The mention of the tracker doesn't seem to faze Micah. As they shake, though, he leans forward. Yellow-brown eyes bore into grey, and a low rumble enters his voice as he says, "Ninety-nine sixty, Mr. Mannock. Just make sure that's what I get, and I'll be here." He'd caught the name and amount on the check. |
