The shop seemed nice enough, for a shop that was nearer to the outskirts than her father considered safe and which also sold objects primarily used to kill people and creatures. The sign above the door read ‘The Drunken Huntsman’ in dirty white letters that furled away from the wood at the edges and it had a list of opening hours taped to the glass door. Destiny checked her wallet, then tucked it safely back into her back and pushed the door open. The inside smelt like gunpowder and wet dog, which kind of set her at ease. Bad people usually killed their dogs, right? Unless they were crazy dogs... but you can’t run a business with crazy dogs, so she was fine! With this in mind, she approached the counter and started examining the guns in their glass cases, hands tucked behind her back. |

"Oh, definitely! It's my day off! I'll wait right here until-no, maybe I'll get food, that seems like a good idea and I could even get sna-wait, what time is it right now? Do I have enough supplies with me, or should I go home and get a better notebook?" She started to look through her bag, and muttered off the contents to herself, which included a roll of mints, a journal with a blue ink pen, a scalpel with a broken handle, a picture of a shoggoth, five calorie bars, and dental floss. "I think I have what I need!" |

Though he genuinely tried to keep up with Destiny's ramble, Micah had to give up as she started listing things in her bag. Raising an eyebrow, he asked, "Y'all got a kitchen sink in there, too?" He chuckled at her frantic search, then glanced at the clock on the wall. "'S about half-past three now, hon. If'n ya want to get lunch, now'd be a good time. I gotta finish up some things in th' back. Ya can meet me back here and I'll walk you to my place - it ain't far." Edited by vicroc4, Apr 13 2014, 12:43 PM.

Destiny laughed at how silly that suggestion was. "Oh no, I haven' found a way to transport a sink conveniently yet." she said, smiling brightly. "I've had to just stick with hand sanitiser for now. Much more reasonable!" She looked at the notebook she had finally located, deemed it suitable and tucked it back into the stygian abyss of a bag from whence it came. "Alright, mr... well, I guess I better get your name before I go! Mine's Destiny, Destiny Emeralt. Most folks jus' call me Dee though. Well, they call me Doctor too, but I think Dee is a lot better because hopefully I won't be fixing you up after an injury, and it's much more sensible than Destiny. What do folks call you?" |

Micah laughs as well, nodding. "Didn't figure ya did, miss." A doctor after all, then. Chuckling, Micah files that for future use. Then he grins at Destiny and extends his hand, saying, "A pleasure to meet ya, Miss Dee. I'm Samuel Puledri, but ya can jus' call me 'Sam.'" |

Destiny took Michah's - or, as she thought, Sam's - hand and shook it enthusiastically. She was obviously pretty weak, but was definitely doing her best to make it a proper, firm handshake instead of doing the equivalent of slapping a dead cod into his grip and seeing what he did with it. She beamed up at him, bobbed in an awkward curtsey and headed for the door with a bounce in her heels "I'm off to go tell my dad where I met you, so if you do decide to kill me in some horrific way and then chop up my broken body to feed to pigs, he'll have something to go on!" She waved and skipped out the door with a merry "See you soon!" ----- She returned under an hour and a half later, carrying a paper bag with a smilie face on it and wearing a different shirt under her coat. She had two slides on either side of her hair, keeping it back from her face. "I'm back, Mr Puledri! I brought doughnuts!" |

That... was probably the weirdest farewell Micah had ever received. Not the "predicting her own doom" part, he'd heard that before, but the cheerful way Destiny had delivered it. It made him wonder once again if she was entirely sane, though he returned her handshake - which was stronger than he'd expected out of such a delicate frame - and bid her a polite goodbye. An hour and a half later, he'd mostly put it out of his mind. His missing manager had finally showed up, and attempted to explain his absence - blaming it on a family emergency. Though Micah had his doubts, he let it slide with a warning to at least try to let his underlings know next time. He'd also demanded to know why nobody was manning the counter, and got the reply that the person usually responsible for that was the manager. Needless to say, there had been a great deal of yelling after that. When the dust settled, the woman that had been hired to man the counter had been fired, and the manager put on notice that any more stupidity would result in his sharing her fate. It shoud come as no surprise, then, that he wasn't in the greatest of moods when Destiny showed up. He was monitoring the person now manning the counter when the bells chimed to announce the medic's arrival. Reflexively sniffing the puff of air that had followed her in, he raised an eyebrow as her odd brimstone scent was accompanied by the smell of- Destiny's proclamation came just as he placed that other scent. Donuts. Right, then. He vaguely remembered her saying that she might bring snacks of some sort. Snorting, he pushed off of the wall he'd been leaning on. Trying to put a smile on his face, he waves Destiny over and says, "Miss Emeralt! Y'all're a bit early. We were just finishin' up." Edited by vicroc4, Apr 18 2014, 09:56 AM.

"I thought I'd try be respectful and be a little early, Mr Puledri!" Destiny said with a smile. She bobbed her head at the other person manning the counter before putting the paper bag on the very edge of the countertop. She took a paper plate out of her satchel, popped two doughnuts onto the plate, and passed it to Micah. They were the kind with fillings in the centre, deliciously fresh looking, and dusted with powdery sugar. "Strawberry or chocolate filling, Mr Puledri?" she asked, offering him the plate. There was a kind of nervous energy around her, as if she was very much hoping to make a good impression in case he changed his mind at any moment. "I'd offer to help you close up, but I don't think you'd like a stranger wandering around behind the counter and messing with your guns." |

The kid at the counter smiles back, but it's obvious that he's more than a bit nervous. Micah, on the other hand, grins a bit as he replies, "Sure, sure. It's all too many people what end up goin' the other direction and bein' late. I 'preciate it." He raises an eyebrow as Destiny pulls the plate out of her bag, but decides he's not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. "Well, that's mighty kind of ya, Miss Emeralt. I'll have a strawberry - chocolate tends not to agree with me too well." Chuckling, he continues, "We ain't closin' yet, I'm just off-shift at five. I was just gettin' Brady here up to speed." He pats the kid on the shoulder. "Be a minute while he goes through the paces, then I'll be out and we can work on yer gun." As if realizing something, he blinks, then looks at Destiny with a sheepish sort of expression. "Aw, we never did get ya that, did we? I have a couple set aside for ya to look at, if'n ya want ta do that now." |

Destiny pushed the plate with the remaining doughtnut towards Brady before looking at Micah with the most delighted expression possible. He may have offered her free candy and plushies for life, because it was the same reaction. "Yes, please!" she said eagerly. She took out her wallet and spread out four hundreds and a fifty on the counter. "This is my price range." |

Brady accepts the donut with a quiet, "Thanks." Then he returns to the register, bumping the mouse to knock it out of screensaver. He clicks at something on the screen and settles in to read. Mentally counting the cash laid out, Micah smiles at Destiny. Chuckling, he says, "Ya lookin' ta buy new then? Got a couple choices if'n ya are. Also got one that came in used a bit back what should be a bit less. We tuned it up a bit an' put in a new barrel, shoots better 'n new." |
