The shop seemed nice enough, for a shop that was nearer to the outskirts than her father considered safe and which also sold objects primarily used to kill people and creatures. The sign above the door read ‘The Drunken Huntsman’ in dirty white letters that furled away from the wood at the edges and it had a list of opening hours taped to the glass door. Destiny checked her wallet, then tucked it safely back into her back and pushed the door open. The inside smelt like gunpowder and wet dog, which kind of set her at ease. Bad people usually killed their dogs, right? Unless they were crazy dogs... but you can’t run a business with crazy dogs, so she was fine! With this in mind, she approached the counter and started examining the guns in their glass cases, hands tucked behind her back. |

Destiny stepped past him and into the foyer, content to wait there. “Go right ahead, Mr Puledri!” she said breathlessly, still a little winded from following him; a stride for him was basically three steps for her, so she’d been almost running that whole time. She looked around the place, taking in the details of the place and also remembering the route there for when she was going home. Some people, especially waifish young women with no real self-defence skills, would be apprehensive or even reluctant to follow a burly, gruff older man into his residence. Not Destiny! There was a sudden moment of self awareness as even she could realise this was generally a bad idea, but that was drowned out by the follow-up thought of ‘But! Learning guns properly! =D’ “I like your house, Mr Puledri. Angry door aside, it must be really convenient!” |

Micah follows her in to the foyer, making a beeline for the grid of mailboxes along the wall that divides it from the deli. He fumbles with the lock on one of the larger boxes along the bottom, finally getting it open. Several envelopes tumble out onto the floor, revealing a mailbox that's stuffed full of what looks to be mostly brightly-colored junk mail. "Heh, looks like I gotta remember ta check this more often," he chuckles. He pulls the mail out of the box, remembering to grab the items that fell out, and nods distractedly to Destiny as he goes through the pile. "Well, it ain't the greatest part o' town, but I do well enough here. Close ta th' shop, o' course, but it's also close ta a lot o' downtown. Plus it lets me keep an eye on Tony at th' deli - boy's great with customers, but he's got a lousy business sense." Another voice chimes in from the little alcove opposite the mailboxes, "Ain't that the truth? Place woulda been shut down years ago if you hadn't come along, boss." Stepping out of the doorway - which apparently led to a small office - was a young woman that stood only an inch or two taller than Destiny herself. A tanned complexion and long, navy blue shirt and jeans had helped her blend into the shadows, but the sunlight slanting in through the front door had caught a bun of fiery red hair as she stepped forward. Unusual yellow eyes surveyed Destiny, the beginnings of what could be a smirk on the newcomer's thin lips. To his credit, Micah seemed only mildly surprised to find that someone else was in the foyer. Turning around, he nodded to the newcomer, smiling and saying, "An' hello ta you too, Miss Mary. Ya lookin' ta give us both a heart attack, hidin' in th' office like that?" "Mary" seemed to hesitate for a moment. D'Antunno was being far too friendly - what was going on here? Wait... the skinny chick. Who was she? Not part of the organization, else he wouldn't be bothering with the cover name. There was a weird smell about her, antiseptics and brimstone and a sort of not-quite-scent that reminded Kara of someone she knew... but no, that was another time, another place. Mentally shaking herself, she drove those thoughts out of her mind. Giving Destiny another almost-smirk, she turned to Micah and fixed him with her pale eyes. Pouting, she said, "Serves you right, Sam, bringing home another woman. You could at least introduce us." Micah chuckled, holding both hands up in a gesture of surrender. "Alright, alright. I know when I'm beat." Turning to Destiny, he gestured to the newcomer and said, "Miss Dee, I'd like ya t' meet Mary DuVal - one o' my business associates." He turned his attention to Kara, giving a similar gesture at Destiny, and continued, "Mary, meet Destiny Emeralt." Smirking at Kara, he added, "She wants ta learn a bit about gunsmithin', so as ta keep her carry piece shootin' straight. I figured the boys down at th' store would get a mite testy if'n I let a newbie 'round their kit, so I was gonna bring her up ta my shop here at home." Edited by vicroc4, Sep 18 2014, 05:54 AM.

Destiny bounced on her heels, just about keeping herself from hugging the newcomer. She waved with both hands at the other woman. "Hi, Miss DuVal! I like your name! It sound kind of shiny!" she said enthusiastically. She stayed quiet while he explained her presence, but she did pipe up again after. "Well, actually, what I need to learn is how to put a gun together, but any advice will be good because it'll prevent unnecessary and really unhelpful accidents!" she said, smiling. ""I mean, I'll be fine, but I'd sure hate to have an explosion in my room, or the back garden!" Again, she did not add. "I don't need a full course or anything, just enough so I can understand a gun!" |
