Horus yawns and does his best not to lean against a wall and pause his patrol. 8 in the morning, after a day like yesterday? ...Okay, so 8 wasn't really that unusual, and yesterday was all on him, but still. He is exhausted. So, probably not in good condition to be actually guarding anything. But hey, he had to do it. Time to stop mentally complaining about it and patrol. And probably hope nothing eventful happens. |

Aurora smiles broadly. "Oh, thank you both very much. Um, okay. I have the address, so just follow me." "Right behind you." Horus gives her a slight smirk as he falls into step behind her. --- The lab of Dr. Lou Levy is unlike anything Aurora could have expected. Glass tubes and what appear to be lifeless aquariums protrude from every available sea-blue surface; walls, floor and ceiling. Wheeled chairs are strewn around without much thought, although a single table rests in the center of the room. Standing by it, Levy waves to Aurora as she steps inside. "Good day, Miss Endicott. Please, take a seat; Cassy hasn't arrived yet. May I ask your companion's names?" |

Following behind Aurora, he takes in the sight of the lab with great interest. He's always had an interest in science, even though he was nowhere near a competent practitioner of chemistry or biology. The laboratory was seemingly random to him, though he was sure everything must have had a purpose. When they met the doctor himself, he shrugs. "Uhh...sure. My name's Kursten, Kursten Turner." Glancing at him askance, he asks the question of the day. "If you'll excuse me, could you explain a bit about what happened, from your side of things? Because this seems really strange to me..." |

Horus just stares in awe. "D...Dr. Levy?" From where he's perched on his owner's shoulder, Perry gives a loud screech. "Yes, that is what most people call me." Levy turns to Kursten with a warm smile. "Of course. I stumbled upon one of my crystal hunting associates, Cassidy, in the process of robbing poor Miss Endicott here. I stopped Cassy from doing anything further, and requested a chance to study Miss Endicott's crystal. They obliged me. I will fully recompense Miss Endicott for her losses yesterday, including returning the crystal. Is that satisfactory, Mr. Turner?" |

Kursten tilts his head, before nearly being blown back in astonishment. "Wait...wait...THE Dr. Lou Levy?! Wow...that's...well, it's quite an honor to meet you!" The name of the mysterious doctor was almost a household name in Reliquus, and Kursten was deep enough in magical research that his presence had a profound effect. "Well...that sounds very generous of you. I appreciate you helping my friend like that!" Fears mollified, he goes to a more analytical bent. "Can you tell me what you've found out? I'm very curious." At that moment, a figure drops down from the ceiling, none other than Cassidy Disma. "Yeah, let's hear it already. I'm wasting enough time here already, I want to know just how much money you've cost me already." |

Aurora squeaks a little as Cassidy makes her appearance, drifting closer to Horus. For all the stupid contained within the guardsman, he is still able to figure out who the newcomer is. He lifts his spear the slightest bit. Dr. Levy nods to Kursten. "Yes, it is quite a pleasure. And I thought I already compensated you, Cassy. If you'll hold on, I'll go fetch the crystal." |

Cassidy grumbles. "You did...but that big one is pretty obviously worth more in the long run. Even if my new present has more utility, I know you'll show the world how incredible that big thing is and I'll know just how much I lost. We've played this song and dance before." Turning to Horus, she blinks as he raises the spear. "Woah there, bucko, I get that you're happy to see me, but you really think you should let it all hang out like that? Better calm down, I don't give a rat's ass about your girlfriend anymore." She grins over at Aurora, her smile belying the predatory intent in her eyes. "Unless she's got another present for me, 'course. Kursten ponders a bit...if Levy was this generous with Aurora's gem, maybe he'd help with his Book, or with Destiny's flames! He'd have to wait and see...and a selfish instinct in him tells him to hide it away, to make it his own discovery. He dampens that though...all that matters is knowing what causes them and how to control it better...if he could harness the power inside the book, he could keep his family safe for sure, and after that, other discoveries would come naturally. "Dr. Levy, did the crystal lend itself to new discoveries? It's obviously unique...I've never seen anything like it." |

Horus keeps his spear trained on Cassidy. "And I guess you're the thief? Nice to know; pretty face and all, but that's a dealbreaker. And she's not my girlfriend; I don't even know her name." Aurora resists the urge to facepalm while Dr. Levy waves to Kursten. "I'll explain all I know in a minute. Please, let me fetch the object of our interest real fast." With that, he disappears deeper into the lab. |

Cassidy laughs. "Ha, well don't you have a big opinion of yourself. Also you're dumb as a rock for getting into a bodyguarding gig without knowing the principal's name, or did that just slip your mind as you were getting the briefing?" She turns away, leaning against a wall. "Well, doesn't matter to me none. I can tell you straight up I'm not going after Aurora anymore. Not as long as she has all that protection, at least." She mutters the last sentence under her breath. She raises her voice again. "So don't point that thing at me, ya hear? I aint in the mood." Kursten nods at the Doctor, and turns back to Aurora. "I'm sorry to hear about all the trouble you went through...but it seems like it's worth it in the end. You get the crystal back, and Dr. Levy got to look into it for you, heck, I imagine people would pay tons of money to get him to identify artifacts for them..." |

Horus recalls his exact thought process at the time Aurora asked for help -- pretty girl needs protecting, ergo he must protect pretty girl -- and decides against opening his mouth again. Aurora nods, keeping a defensive watch on Cassidy. "Yes, I am... ultimately quite fortunate here; almost worth the trouble to get this far. I will owe Dr. Levy quite heavily for his trouble." |

Cassidy laughs. "Guess I really pissed you off, didn't I? Hell, I was just trying to teach you a lesson on keeping a close eye on your valuables, no need to be such a bitch about it." Blinking at the exchange, Kursten shakes his head. "I...well, wouldn't there be nicer ways to spread that message? Ones that don't involve stealing?" She blinks at him, not even comprehending. "Uhh....yeah, but I got to make a living too, don't I? So uncaring and heartless you lot are." |
