Horus yawns and does his best not to lean against a wall and pause his patrol. 8 in the morning, after a day like yesterday? ...Okay, so 8 wasn't really that unusual, and yesterday was all on him, but still. He is exhausted. So, probably not in good condition to be actually guarding anything. But hey, he had to do it. Time to stop mentally complaining about it and patrol. And probably hope nothing eventful happens.

Aurora sighs. "...Says the thief. And I could be wrong, but I think there are other ways to make a living."

Footsteps herald Dr. Levy's return. "I do hope you are at least remaining civil. Now, please, gather around."

"There are. Just not ones that are as fun...or as available. I prefer exploring ancient ruins most times, but it's tough finding unpicked sites...and when you just show a giant stone in front of me...well, you should know better than that."

Hearing the sound of footsteps, Kursten turns around. "Alright!" He didn't like the flow of this conversation, and it didn't seem like Cassidy meant to make trouble...he was far more interested in what Levy had found.

Quite eager to drop this conversation with the thief, Aurora nods and gestures to Horus to follow her over to the table Dr. Levy is standing at. Horus gives an audible "oooh" when he sees the gemstone. "Wow. I don't think I've ever seen a crystal so big. Or pretty; really fits its owner."

Aurora quirks an eyebrow his way, but doesn't comment. "So, um. Did you figure out its origin?"

"I believe so." Dr. Levy presses a finger to the bridge of his glasses. "This crystal predates any that I have ever seen. All crystals are tied to a god or goddess. However, there has never been a deity of gravity; it wasn't even a concept until relatively recently. Therefore, its origin must be something above the usual gods. Perhaps a mad god, who created the universe--and more importantly, its natural laws--in its insanity..."

Cassidy doesn't move in, staying back against the wall. She's close enough to hear, and guffaw at Horus' awful attempt at a pick-up line, but she makes no attempt to get in to the group.

Kursten, on the other hand, is rapt up in Levy's words. "Yeah...the older deities worshipped tended to have no hold on the creation of the universe...only more recent ones like Brahma and Yahweh have ever had that attributed to them..." He shakes his head to stop him from rambling. "But what does this have to do with the crystal? Please go on, Doctor."

"As this crystal contains the power of one of the primordial laws of the universe--not just Earth--I believe there is only one deity it can be attributed to."

Aurora blinks as the realization strikes her. "Azathoth?"

"The blind, mad god, yes. There is no other being that such a crystal could have been forged by. I will still return to you this crystal, but do be careful with it; I doubt there is anything else in human hands that holds such power."

Kursten tilts his head slightly. "That's one mystery down, but did you find anything more about its usage? Still...that alone is a big help, thank you so much, Doctor!"

Cassidy grumbles. "Of course, the 'greatest power held in human hands' slips out of mine. Screw you too, Levy."

Levy bows his head, a light smirk aimed Cassidy's way. "I aim to help, nothing more."

Still, he sighs. "Unfortunately, a crystal like this probably holds little benefit to society at the moment. All of its abilities are gravitational creations of great power; with it, one can create a singularity at any point, or a gravity well that pulls in all in its range. If you have any ideas on how this could benefit mankind, please, let me know."

Cassidy pouts in the corner, holding an upraised middle finger his way. "You still owe me for that bad tip you gave earlier, so you can shut the hell up. I do mean to collect on it, you mark my words."

Kursten considers the problem in front of him. "The real question is how small you can make the singularity. Small-scale gravity fields could be incredible...creating a way to consume particles in a black hole could be downright revolutionary for waste disposal, disposing of old nuclear waste down to the last gamma particle...it could change a lot!"

"And you should have a much easier time with the Cronus Topaz. I promise you that much, Cassy." At Kursten's question, Dr. Levy lifts a finger and sends a shock of magical intent into the crystal. A miniscule warping of time and space buds at his fingertip, strong enough to pull his glasses closer. "About this small, I'd think, although you'd have to be a talented magus to use so little energy."

He grins Aurora's way. "I figure one of the esteemed Endicott family should be capable of it."

"Oh, um..." Aurora blushes and looks away. "I'm... really not that special... I'm still a student, after all."

Kursten nods. "I can't imagine that it'd be able to form an event-horizon style singularity without a supermassive size, but still, that's interesting. I'm sure we'll find new uses for it, with it available."

Cassidy just shrugs. "Whatever, Doc. If you don't need me for anything else, then, I'm heading out."

Seeing what he did for Aurora, Kursten finally got it into his head that the Doctor was someone he could trust. "Excuse me, Dr. Levy...I have another artifact as well. I was hoping to find out about it myself and establish myself that way...but I figure that would be detrimental to the community at large. Would you mind taking at least a quick look at it?"
