Kursten walks around the vacant lot that they had chosen for their little arena, making sure there was no interference that would reduce the value of their experiment. When he's satisfied that there are no errant phenomena, he turns back towards the two people who had accompanied him. "Alright, test area looks good. Are you people ready to start?" He palms his book...he's never really tried using it in anything even approaching a combat situation...but he's fairly confident that he could reign in the errant thoughts that tended to get in his head as he drew power from it. And it was worth testing...he didn't know nearly enough about the actual effects it produced, most of his work till now was in translation. "Okay, dictee, note that the test site is as control as anywhere in Reliquus can be. We might want to try the experiment outside of the city later to see if there's any noticeable difference." He takes a breath to steel himself, then nods. "Let's begin." |

"You did?" Kursten asks, somewhat surprised. "Well...that's good. I kind of thought it fell flat on its face...that's what happens most of the time I try to joke around." When she starts the phone call, he gets quiet and lets her speak, contenting himself by ruffling the fur on top of the rabbit's head. After listening to Destiny's report on the guard's instructions, he sighs. "Let's just hope that they're docile...it'll be tough to catch them if they start running fast..." With that, he shrugs. "I guess we've got to do what we've gotta do though, let's do our best. Your idea sounds like the best place to start, though we might have to improvise if things get out of hand." Her idle chatter causes a light blush to form around his face, but he grins and goes along with it. "Well...I guess that's good to know. I'd think most people would view this as a big chore, and one that got forced on them. Now all we need to do is hope more bunny balloons have flight difficulty." Looking around the area, Kursten tries to scope out where the bunnies have hopped out to. "Okay, let's just make a big circle...hopefully, if they start running, they'll bolt towards the bunny pile, and then it'll be easier to round them up eventually. Ready?" |

“Oh, I don’t know if I’d call it a chore. There are a lot worse things to happen on a date than fly-by fluffballs!” Destiny replied. She got that he was joking, of course, but her cheeks did feel hot (moreso than usual anyways) as she responded. She bounced around one side while Kursten got the other, shooing the bunnies back towards the centre. They proved surprisingly willing to be herded into a giant, fluffy pyramid – almost like they’d been trained for this exact eventuality. There was a small meep from her as she tripped over one, then she scooped it up to cuddle it, apparently unharmed. She held it like a baby and petted the tops of its feet. “This might just be the cutest day of my life, ever.” |

Kursten lets out a tired sigh, as he stares up at the puffball pyramid and grins. "Well, I wouldn't be surprised. There's not much that could top this...in that category at least." He attempts to pet the rabbit, and finds it much more docile than he expected. As they stood there, making sure the pyramid didn't wobble. "You know, it's fascinating how well they were trained! Maybe they were spelled a bit to get them to be this compliant..." He examines the pyramid, and gets his nose nipped for the trouble. "Ow!" Clutching his nose, he grumbles a bit. "How long are we gonna be waiting here? You think they'll send someone soon?" |

"Do you think there's a mage family that specialises in taming floofy creatures? Like, they ignore horse and cows and things, but they specially breed bunnies and Persians and Pomeranians. Maybe someday we'll have to fear the uber-magi-fluff uprising. In which case I will welcome our new fluffbutt overloads. I mean, overlords!" Destiny couldn't help smile a little as one of the rabbits got a little too spirited for Kursten's own good. She skipped over to have a look at the damage. She stood on her tiptoes, but she still had to tug the front of his shirt lightly to bring him down to eye-level. "Nasal superstructure is fully operational!" she informed him. "And not sure, but they did say shortly, so I'm thinking as long as it takes to turn an airship around. Or find parking for one...." |

Kursten blinks. "Well...I'm sure there's someone. Magi tend to be pretty varied..." He shakes his head. "But we tend to not like limiting ourselves when we don't have to. Though, specializations are a different story...an animal-focused magi might prefer working with little fluffy things, that makes sense..." Realizing he was rambling again, he shuts up, grinning sheepishly. "And uh, thanks for looking at my nose. I can't really see it and all I can tell is that it hurts. Good thing that little demon didn't bite anything important off..." As he said it, the pain went away, his regeneration extending to the little nip on his nose. Pointing at a bench a few meters away, he shrugs. "Um..if you don't mind, I'm gonna get some translation work in. You're free to watch, if you don't think it'd be boring, or stay with the bunnies." The way he says it makes it rather clear he'd like her to come with him, but he doesn't have the confidence to outright say it. |

Destiny smiled. "If demons were bunnies, I would regret not being able to summon them at will." She nodded eagerly at his offer to watch him translate. "Sure, I'd love to!" she said, really too enthusiastic about the idea of watching a guy sit down and read a book. "I could... scribble things for you, if you need me to! Or I could just be quiet while you work, I actually can do that." She skipped over to the bench without hearing his preference one way or the other and colonised the left corner of it by sitting lotus style. |

Unable to hold back his smile as Destiny sits down beside him, and opens up the book. "Well, probably don't want to scribble things, but no need to be quiet on my account. If anything, I'd like someone to bounce a few ideas off...that is, if you don't mind, of course." Taking out his notes, he opens it up to one chapter. "Like...here. I'm not quite sure what this passage is supposed to be. It might be a demonstration, or something else entirely. It either goes into rather oddly graphic detail or meanders around with platitudes. 'What once was, is, and as you splice those beneath you in twain, you understand how the fragile bonds of space extort and twine, the cosmos is vast and power is between the lines...'" He shakes his head. "I don't get what it's trying to say...which may be the point." He scratches his head, hunched over in frustration. "Just what are you trying to tell me?" He grumbles at his book. Looking up at Destiny, he sighs. "I probably made an error in the script some places, but it's so hard to tell. This script is odd, and the language is really tough to decipher." He grins. "It's nice having someone to complain to. I think that's what I was missing. So thanks, a lot." |
