Kursten walks around the vacant lot that they had chosen for their little arena, making sure there was no interference that would reduce the value of their experiment. When he's satisfied that there are no errant phenomena, he turns back towards the two people who had accompanied him. "Alright, test area looks good. Are you people ready to start?" He palms his book...he's never really tried using it in anything even approaching a combat situation...but he's fairly confident that he could reign in the errant thoughts that tended to get in his head as he drew power from it. And it was worth testing...he didn't know nearly enough about the actual effects it produced, most of his work till now was in translation. "Okay, dictee, note that the test site is as control as anywhere in Reliquus can be. We might want to try the experiment outside of the city later to see if there's any noticeable difference." He takes a breath to steel himself, then nods. "Let's begin." |

Kursten looks at her confused at her adoration of balloons, but can't help but grin at the thought. "Yeah...that sounds really amazing! An airship would definitely be a better idea than a balloon if we could afford it! Being able to control our movement is very important, and with that, I could definitely see getting one making a bit more sense." He frowns a bit though. "Don't you have to work at the hospital though? Or do you get long breaks?" He tilts his head slightly. "What kind of 'small' airship is going to have a bedroom? I'd think we'd have to roll out cots if we were going to get one reasonably sized...well, I guess magic can do amazing things..." In the end, he gets swept up along with her. "Science airship! Woo!" He raises a hand a bit in a cheer, feeling generally happy about the future. That was something new for him, before he was generally just apprehensive and longing for the future, now he was getting pumped. Kursten blanches a bit as she talks about surgery for her height. "I...really don't think that's necessary, I'll be willing to get stuff for you if you need it. I think you're fine the way you are now, especially if you're going to take chances with haemophilia...though Levy might be able to help if you ask him. He supposedly knows close to all there is to know about...well, everything. I could have asked him if I'd known." He nods eagerly at her resolution. "That fire metal is fantastic, it's something I've never seen before, and I don't think it's in any of the books I've read. It might be brand new! You really should pursue it, and I'd be happy to help you." He frowns a bit as she talks about her sister. "I...don't think you're being fair to her. I'm sure she has a good reason for what she's doing...but I suppose you'd know more about her than I would." He sighs "I don't know...just the idea of criticizing elders in the family is...foreign, I think would be the right word." In the end, he shrugs. "And foreign isn't necessarily wrong, so I won't judge either. It's just not what I'm used to." |

Destiny waved her hand airily at the questions. They didn’t matter! Not yet, anyway! “Who cares about the details? We don’t know anything yet, so we can think as big as we want! Anything we have to change for the sake of reality, we keep as an even bigger aspiration! And if all else fails, we get two small airships and tie them together.” When Kursten put his hand up, she did likewise with both of hers, and cheered “Science airship, whoo!” along with him. Team spirit, yeah! "And don’t you worry, I'm not actually that bothered about something that frivolous! Nowadays, I just accept it as part of my, uh... charm! Really, the only shortness problem that I have is with one of my legs." As she said that, she lifted up the right leg of her jeans a little and showed him the super-thick sole of her shoe. "That leg is just shorter than the other, and I only want to change that because of the problem with balance. Other than that, I don’t mind! I like my weird quirks as much as I like yours! Even if I do have to wear contacts because of the eyes. Oooh, if Levy knows at least a little about everything, do you think he might be convinced to teach us some stuff someday, or just you? That’d be so amazing!” She shook her head. “I know it isn’t entirely new, because my mom mentioned using it, and my first sample was from a grand-aunt. But far as I’m aware, none of us have made it a primary focus the way I have. Usually they go for fine control or quantity, not shaping and forging. It’s been used for making crude knives, and the Greenes have an ever-burning fire with it, but that’s small-scale compared to what it could be, to what it can be.” She couldn’t help make a face as Kursten brought up (just barely) criticised her treatment of her sister, not at him but at the general idea of it. “I wouldn’t judge her if she wasn’t so wrong about it.” she muttered, in the sullen tones of someone who knows she’s in the wrong but wants to be right anyways. There was a sulky shift to her posture, and she added in a most begrudging fashion, “I guess it works for her though. Just not me.” |

Kursten shrugs, smiling softly. "I guess that's a good idea. No need to look too hard...heck, when we get to a couple of years in the future, it might not even be something we want. Still, we should have a goal in mind, I think...and putting a bit of research in it couldn't hurt." He was already going through what he knew about airships...he liked the idea, but he didn't know how practical it was. He wanted it to be practical though, more badly than even he understood why, but he shrugs it off. Seeing her join in the cheer embarrasses him a bit, and he draws his arm down, looking back behind him. "Well...I guess I'm just excited, is all. It..just seems really cool, is all." He blinks as she just tosses aside her discussion on her height, and he shrugs. "Well, I'm glad you decided on that, it's probably not worth it." When she goes on to describe the balance problem with her legs, he frowns. "That might be worth some magical intervention if we can make it happen, though..." He blinks. "You wear contacts?" He asks. When she talks about Levy, he nods eagerly. "I'd love to learn from him, as much as I can. He's not really all that eager to share how to do what he knows, only the results...but I think he might be willing to make an exception. Just...call it a hunch." If he was right, it'd be incredible...learning from the man who changed human society itself for the better...it was an incredible thought. Her discussion on the fire metal elicits more excitement from him. "Yeah! The chains alone are a huge leap forward from that...and if you get ever-burning flame, that's another way to acheive perpetual energy! Even if the energy isn't really perpetual and comes from a fire-dimension or whatever, that's still free energy for us..and they don't really seem to be upset. There's just so much utility to be found...so much experimentation to be done!" He rubs the back of his head, blushing slightly. "But you...uhh...probably knew that." He hangs his head down, tilting his eyes up a bit guiltily. "Sorry for rambling again..." Destiny didn't look like she'd shift on her sister, so he just shakes his head. "Like I said, you'd know her better than I would. But even if she is being wrong...she's free to make her own bad decisions, like it or not. You might want to try and talk to her about her without judging her about it, if you haven't done that already. You probably have, though...yeah..." He shakes his head. "I hope you reconcile a bit, it's not good for family to fight." |

Destiny apparently didn’t feel any embarrassment at all about cheering, so she kept it up for a little while longer before finishing with a delighted clap. “It is cool! That’s why we’re so excited!” she said cheerfully., “And yeah, I do wear contacts. I don’t have bad eyesight or anything, they just glow.” To demonstrate, she pulled down her lower eyelid while opening her eye wide and touched her index finger to it, then lifted it off gently. The thin piece of tinted plastic came with it, and her uncovered iris let out a soft, flickering green light. Destiny blinked away the weird feeling that came with taking the contacts off and smiled. "It's totally harmless, but it is so very obviously weird, and also a little off-putting for patients!” She didn’t even think about his comment about a magical remedy until after. She looked down at her leg and tried to imagine what the process would even involve. It was... a nice idea, if a little worrying. She liked magic, she did! It was really amazing and cool and she wished she could do even just a little bit of it, and she was willing to use it for an examination, but more than that? Doing things in the standard scientific or medical fashion was one thing. She could understand that. She knew how it worked and why. But as cool as magic was, it was a little different to let it actually, well, alter her. That’d be.... She looked up at Kursten, and had to look down again because her cheeks flushed with embarrassment. That kind of thinking... kind of made her a bit of a hypocrite, didn’t it? And it wasn’t even like she didn’t have a choice in the matter, or someone who could explain at least of it. She popped out of her own thought process in time to hear his squee, and his follow-up apology for it. However, before she could assure him that he wasn’t rambling at all, that train of thought cut off by a deep shadow spreading through their little area, and Destiny looked up to see what else, but a small sized airship passing over them. An airship! One that was flying alarmingly low, yes, but there were no sirens or any visible damage to indicate that there was an actual problem. If Destiny believed in such things, she’d call it a good omen. She opened her mouth to comment on exactly that, and then made a ‘whuff!’ of surprise as something small, white and fluffy dropped from the airship and landed on her face before it bounced off. Destiny rubbed her nose and crouched down to see what it was. It turned out to be a tiny little rabbit, seemingly unhurt by its fall. As she stared, it uncurled itself, and stared back cutely. On cue, dozens more rabbits began to fall around them, like soft and heavy hailstones. There was only gentle thwumps, no cracks or splats as might be expected. These were tough little lepus, yes they were! Destiny looked back up at Kursten and held out her hands. In a perfect moment of synchronisation or serendipity or some such thing like that, another rabbit fell right into them. |

Kursten looks over at her, continuing to cheer, and smiles contentedly. Planning for a future that may not happen wasn't the most productive use of time, but it was fun, and he enjoyed it. Besides, it made Destiny happy, and that was more than enough for him. But that too eventually came to an end, with Destiny explaining about why she wore her contact lenses. "They...uhh...glow?" He asks, a bit confused. Glowing eyes certainly wasn't normal...though it's probably related to their unique power. That meant Tru was wearing lenses as well, and he'd imagine every member of their extended family who had it did as well. It makes the origins of her powers rather telling...it probably had to have been recent...it couldn't have been the kind of magic that just always existed but was kept a secret, he'd have heard of the glowing-eyed pyromancers if that was the case. When she demonstrates it, Kursten keeps himself steady, he knew it was going to happen, so the surprise wasn't as strong as it would have been otherwise. "..Yeah, I can imagine. It looks kind of cool, but I figure most people wouldn't want magic that close to them...especially not the kind of magic that most people are used to. And that's...rather obvious, just looking at it. Still, it's nice that all it takes are some contact lenses to hide that effect at least. Could have been a lot less convenient, I'd imagine." As he was rambling about the fire-metal, he noticed Destiny get very quiet, and he was a bit concerned. If there was one thing he noticed about Destiny for sure after the time they'd gotten to know each other, it was that she didn't get quiet for no reason. She normally exploded with words and energy, all mixed up and ready to burst. "Destiny, is everything alright?" He asks, wincing a bit afterwards. Of course things weren't alright, her sister had just exploded and things were probably fragile...but he thought they had patched things up alright...well enough that he didn't think to worry about this. His reverie was distracted by the low-flying airship, and he got a bit upset. "Hey, you could hurt someone like that!" He calls out at the airship, louder than normal to try and make his voice audible up there. At that moment, though, he felt a soft smack, as something heavyish seemed to land on his head. He felt a hand up there, and warm fur met his touch. Looking up, he sees a surprisingly unflapped rabbit sitting up on top of his hair. "Well, uhh...that doesn't happen every day." He observes, before starting to laugh at the absurdity of the situation. His laughter was short lived, as he felt a sharp pain up on his head. Looking up, he saw the rabbit munching on a tuft of hair it bit off, and he picks it up. "Ugh...now what was that for? Well, I guess my hair was already pretty ragged..." The rabbit just wiggles it's nose at him, and continues munching. |

Destiny looked from the bunny in her hands to the one on Kursten’s head, and then around at the dozens of other bunnies that were still falling around them. Floofy poofiness and wiggly noses abound. So, she reacted in the only logical way. She squeed and cuddled that adorable bunny rabbit like it was her teddybear from when she was a toddler and she’d mentally regressed to her kindergarten years. After a few seconds, she gathered up a bunch more that were around her, and buried her face in the whole armful of huggable fluffbombs. She recovered herself a short time later, cheeks pink with happiness and lack of breath. “I think that airship must have been breeding them or something! Do you think it’s a flying petshop supplier or something?” She put the bunnies down, with no small reluctance, and stepped over them. They lopped around her feet, seemingly having established her as their bunny leader. She half-reached out for the bunny in Kursten’s hair, almost catching another bunny in her hands because coincidence and serendipity just don’t quit. “If you lean down, I can help get the rabbit out for you!” she offered, then added with a giggle, “Unless you like rabbit haircuts!” |

Kursten watched, somewhat spellbound, as Destiny mentally regressed in the face of such a monumental amount of floof that surrounded them. He didn't join in, more because he was just still completely shocked by the situation, and it was only when she began to speak again that he snapped out of it. "Y-Yeah, that's probably it." He says, flicking back into the situation. "Still, it was being remarkably irresponsible...if they had lost control for even a single moment, it would have crashed right into the upper tiers and buildings. I guess it was better for the bunnies though..." Turning back to the snugglefluffs, he scratches his head. "Should we try to get them back to the airship? We shouldn't just leave them...they'll end up dead. And I don't really want to stay up thinking about a ton of rabbits starving to death or worse." Finishing that morbid thought, he blinks as Destiny reminds him that that weight on his head actually was a thing and not just some figment of his imagination. "Nah, it's fine, I got it." As he went to pick up the rabbit, however, another one flopped into his raised arms, and he places it down. Right at that moment the one already with a claim to his head took another nibble, and he has to restrain himself from dropping the mammal from a comparably safer height than it fell earlier. "Maybe you could help me out..." he concedes reluctantly. |

“I don’t think this would be as wonderfully adorable if they’d been splatting instead.” Destiny agreed, heading over to him. She reached up and caught the hair-muncher in her hands, and gave it a teensy eensy tug to see if it’d come loose. It didn’t. “Wow, he really likes your hair! This might take a little while; I don’t want to cut your hair off.” She started to stroke behind its ears, cooing at the little animal. The bunny resisted at first, but eventually gave into the petting and let go of Kursten’s mangled hair. Destiny gathered it up and gave it a little squeeze, then laughed. ”I think you should adopt this one!” she joked, “It even looks like you a little bit!” She held it up to him to see, narrowly avoiding giving it the chance to take a second tuft to munch on. The rabbit stared at Kursten. Possibly, Kursten stared back. “I’ve never tried to round up rabbits before. Do you think we should we try lead them as well, or just wait for the terrible airship of neglect to come back for them? I like the idea of being a bunny Pied Piper, but I don’t think we have the skillset for it!” |

Kursten blanches at the thought. "Yeah...we'd go from some fairy tale into a horror story. That'd be a lot of blood and guts everywhere...ugh.." Shuddering, Kursten pats the bunny on the head. "I hope it's just my hair you like, little guy. Please don't try and bite my hand off..." To his relief, the rabbit does not take a swipe at his flesh, much preferring the taste and consistency of the hair it had snipped off. Kursten smiles as he runs his fingers through the animals fur. "Well, we'll call it even. My hair grows back quickly...but I'll probably need a haircut for sure." He rubs his shoulder. "I...don't really have room in my apartment, and it doesn't allow pets." He looks a bit forlorn. "Otherwise I'd be happy to adopt the little guy...he wouldn't cost much to feed, I could just cut off a bit of my hair each morning." After a bit, he coughs. "That was a joke...yeah." At her question, Kursten shakes his head. "Let's call it in to the guard, they should be able to notify the airship and keep these little guys alright. You got a phone?" |

Destiny giggled as Kursten talked to the rabbit, and at his little joke. The rabbit just wiggled its nose again, and twitched its ears. The ears were tattered at the ends, like it'd been in the a bunny-battle once or twice. “I know it was, Kursten. I thought it was funny.” She said with a smile as she passed him the bunny so she could find her phone in her bag and make the call. She inputted the number and waited a few moments. There were a few pauses, a couple yeses, the address repeated once or twice, and then around mid-conversation there was a rather confused look. “They want us to try round them up and make a... bunny pile.” Destiny said, puzzled. “Actually, pyramid was the word they used, but I think pile sounds much cuter.” She looked around at the horde of rabbits that was spreading out and scooped up an armful again. She snuggled them contentedly before letting them down on some other rabbits to form the beginnings of the bunny pile, and looked over at Kursten with a big grin. “Well, I’ve never wanted to be a bunny wrangler before, but I guess it’s an option if being a doctor doesn't work out!” she said with cheer. “Ooooh! Will we run around the edges and scoop up all the outliers first, and then slowly kind of tumbled them into the centre of the pile? Or do you have a better tactic?” She started to pile up more rabbits while she let him think. "It's a shame we're not going out," she said without thinking,"because this would be an amazing date!" |
